Aloha Opihis!

To all our newly elected club officers, congratulations again! It was so great seeing many of you at Officer Training Conference, and I hope you left feeling confident, connected, and inspired. From learning the ins and outs of your position to meeting other leaders across the division, OTC was just the beginning of your leadership journey. Now, it’s time to take those new ideas and turn them into action! As you start planning your club’s goals for the year, think about how they can tie into our Division Goals. Whether it’s boosting member engagement, increasing service hours, or strengthening fundraising events, every step you take contributes to the bigger picture of what Makai can accomplish together!

Summer is the perfect time to begin bonding with your board, outlining plans, and exploring service opportunities. Whether you’re organizing club social, hosting a beach clean-up, or finding ways to stay active your community, each and every club’s dedication to service does not stop when school does. Please keep a look out for division reminders such as DCM details, RTC registration, etc. And remember, am always here to support you so please do not hesitate to reach out to me!

This Month’s June Division Council Meeting washeldonSunday, June8th. Our members of Division 22 Makai joined either virtually or attended in person on their designated island to gain updates on our division, district, and international. We highlighted important information such as this months Spotlight on Service Program which is: BEE Clean!! And also recognized our member, officer, advisor, project, andclubofthemonth, those of which had amazing service, leadershipanddedicationtoKeyClub

For our DCM’s service project, we created brochures to encourage our community to eat healthy. These brochures included healthy snacks, calorieintake, alternativeoptions, etc.!

On May 10th, 12 members from our Key Club came together for a beach and rockwall cleanup event held along the coast of Hanapepe, Kauai. We gathered in the early morning with gloves, trashbags, and buckets. Wehadagoalandthatwastomakeapositiveimpact on our environment. Starting at the rockwall, we picked up countless pieces of litter, plastic bottles, and wrappers to fishing lines and broken glass. It was kind of surprising to see the trash that we had collected from a good area, but very glad we left it cleaner than we found it. As the event came to a close, we also held a senior send- off for the eight graduating seniors that cametotheevent. Each senior officer shared heartfelt words to us and our advisors. There were a few tears, quite too much laughing, and celebration for their accomplishments and our goodbyes. This event was such a perfect example of Key Club spirit with combinations of service, leadership, and friendship!!!

Teacher & Staff Appreciation

Breakfast was held on Wednesday May 7th, 2025. This event was put on to showcase our appreciation for our wonderful teachers on campus who work their hardest to provide their students with the best education possible. Members of Waiakea Key Club baked and cooked homemade breakfast items to donate towards this breakfast. Some items include breakfast omelets, pancakes, muffins, fruits, and more! Along with the donations of items, members helped to serve them to the teachers. Waiakea Key Club provided utensils, paper goods, and drinks for the teachers to have as well. We thank all of the members who made this breakfast possible and appreciate all the teachers for what they do for us everyday!

At this project, some members helped out during period and helped to arrange the tables in a certain way. They also helped to put up the different academies' posters. the afternoon shift, members were either assigned to work the sign-in station or helped out with the food by giving guests food or drinks. At the sign-in station, members had guests sign in by putting down their Gmail if not already added and giving guests name tags, a CTE newsletter, while some of the band kids gave them leis and a bag with a goodie bag inside. Lastly, after the event over, members cleaned up and arranged the tables once again to their normal state. It was a successful project, however, quite chaotic as there were a of kids who helped out with not many jobs available.

Mariana is the new secretary for Waimea key club! She has attended most of the events for May, like their beachcleanup, graduationcleanup, and classroom clean up. She takes time off her busy schedule, even thoughshehasalotofcommitments, likevolleyball.

Mr Nakamura always shows his dedication and consistent support towards the club, especially for our officers. Through hard and stressful times, he always makes it clear that we can go to him for help with any problems. Even though this is his first year being Maui High's advisor, he does an amazing job making sure that the officer meetings go smoothly, so there is no miscommunication and that our events go accordingly.C
