DCON 2025 was truly a week to remember! Hundreds Key Clubbers from all over the CNH District gathered Ontario, California to celebrate the past term and the century years of service, leadership, and unforgettable memories. Throughout the weekend, members attended informational workshops, bonded with other Key Clubbers, and cheered their hearts out during spirit sessions making waves across the district! From the recognition of our hardworking members and clubs to the installation of our new district board, DCON was the perfect way to wrap up the term and kick off a new one with fresh motivation and inspiration. To everyone who attended and represented Makai, thank you! Your energy, spirit, and love for service shined bright the entire weekend. If you didn’t get to attend this year, don’t worry there is always next time or look forward to HCON ;) Again, congratulations to all the clubs, members, and advisors who achieved Distinguished Awards, Member Recognition, and other exemplary achievements!

The May Division Council Meeting was held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025. It marked the official beginning of Makai’s 2025-2026 term with the introduction of our Lieutenant Governor, Raven Bugtong. Members across the division joined virtually to learn about updates from the division, district, and international, including ICON registration, DCON recap, and D22M’s Officer Training Conference 2025. In this meeting, we also recognized a member, officer, advisor, club, and project who and which displayed exemplary successanddedicationtoKeyClubfromthepast month.

| Kapaa Key Club

Earth Day, our Kapaa High Key Club chose to give community and environment by participating in a event with the ‘Friends of Kamalani’ organization day to beautifying Lydgate Beach Park. Kapaa brought 38 members and split up into 5 groups, thebeach, playground, parkinglot, andcampsite trashordebris.Ourmemberswereencouragedto

collect at least 2 full bags, collecting debris, plastic, discarded mats, broken gear, bottles, etc. With at least 10 bags of trash, Lydgate was seen notably and visually cleaner, leaving a better and safer area for visitors, residents, and wildlife. Some members stopped and asked what we were doing, enabling us to spread awareness of the goal of sustainability and reducing thepollutiononbeaches.”

“This project was a way for our clubs and other Kiwanis organizations to display their service and show the work they do in the community. This project consisted of the setup and running of the various booths for other Kiwanis clubs and the Hilo High Key Club booths. The execution of this job on the part of the key club members was successful. The event itself, however, was rather empty and didn’t attract many Kiwanis outside of those attending to run booths. Doing it again would be highly recommended. If done again, it should be done with more publication of the event taking place.

“This project occurred on Sunday, April 27th 2025. Walk-with-a-Doc is a reoccurring project that our club does on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month! After setting up the table, the doctor talked about sleep apnea, along with how to identify it through a couple of symptoms related to sleep apnea. Once she finished talking we handed out water to those walking today and then broke down the table and began walking ourselves. Overall, this is a very good project to do for our club!”

Darlene has been working very hard for our Key Club this past month. She had put lots of time and effort into our club, earning 13 hours in just this past month! She had taken a big role in chairing our Merrie Monarch Hawaiian Food Booth, ensuring everything was a success!

As Waiakea’s secretary, Rayne has been a dedicated member of Waiakea for three years. Ever since her freshman year, she has held leadership positions within the club.

Soaring to new heights this term as a returning secretary, she has always made sure to submit the MRFs on time! Her hard work in inputting that meticulous information helped our club earn district recognition at DCON this year. Rayne’s dedication is inspiring, and we hope she continues to work hard and make Waiakea proud!

Mrs.Yamagata has so much unwavering support, guidance, and leadership for Waimea High School Key Club, and all the members and officers can see that from her. She is always there pushing us to go forward even when we are stuck in figuring out things, helping us plan events, getting us events, and making sure we are held accountable. She tries to make time for the club and has a passion that inspires our key club to do better!

The Kiwanis Family Open House has brought together multiple branches of our K-Family. This was a great experience for all, being able to learn about the different clubs the K- Family has to offer, as well as providing an opportunity for connection and collaboration.
