Free Woodland Sessions…

…at Brook Park in Shirebrook Groundwork Greater Nottingham is inviting people to come and take part in the latest free sessions to learn how and why hedge planting and coppicing is carried out.

These are traditional ways of woodland management that

provide essential habitats for the wildlife at Brook Park in Shirebrook, and sessions will take place in January and February.

As an opportunity to learn new skills with like-minded people in the great outdoors, previous sessions have been extremely popular and are fantastic for those who want to get fit or try something new this year.

The sessions are all practical and will take place on Wednesdays, 22 January and 5 February 2020 from 10am to 2pm.

Booking is essential: contact Marion Farrell at Groundwork on 07801 122 494 or mfarrell@groundwork.org.uk.

The sessions are an opportunity to understand that hedgerows and woodlands need to be managed carefully and correctly in the winter season. The sessions are very hands on will be led by Groundwork staff with years of experience.

Brook Park was k formerly part of Shirebrook Colliery and is owned by The Land Trust. Groundwork and Crestra Ltd carry out all the management of the site.

Chesterfield Magistrates Court…

Former Chesterfield magistrates court sold for residential conversion.

The Grade II-listed former magistrates court in Chesterfield has been sold for residential conversion following a deal by Innes England.

ARC Vantage, who specialise in residential conversion and are experienced in refurbishing listed buildings, bought Knightsbridge Court for an undisclosed sum.

Knightsbridge Court is centrally located in the town between Rose Hill and West Bars.

Set within 1.1 acres, it has been

granted planning permission for 30 apartments over three floors.

Designed by Professor Joseph Stanley Allen, a renowned architect, planner and academic, the property was completed in 1956 and was listed in 1998. It was used as Chesterfield’s Magistrates Court until the court moved to a new building on Tapton Lane.

Chris Wright, Associate Director at Innes England, said: “Knightsbridge Court has been empty for a number of years and had sadly become the target for vandalism and fallen into disrepair.”

“This deal will see the building being brought back into use and bring employment opportunities for local people during the construction.”

“The conversion will not only deliver much-needed housing to Chesterfield but also safeguard the future of this landmark building.”
