We re-made the furniture using their own produced cold-form steel to intergrade the building structure (which is also made by light-weight structure).

Project is re-making office table,shelf in the firm and the whole kitchen include counter-top, ceiling ,side wall ,and lighting.

We were assigned to propose a master plan and building of Park Nou in Olot ,Spain. Utilizing the method created by RCR and their aesthetic.

We designed Morrison Academy an international school and I was assigned to make a brick facade using grasshopper to anaylsis the construction assessment.

The design practice is base on a 1:1 model design which is aimed for structure,techtonic articulation,spacial quality and modern yardstick being solves rationally.

The topic "Within the same boat" is base on the art performer Alex Schweder's work ,using space autonomous to indicate the characteristic of the performers.

This design is restricted to build within a 5x5x5 cubic-meter.

01Space

1:1 structure design

This installation art is aimed to design a space to unfold the relation between two actors and the audience of this performance.

Wheras two actor represent an actor and an audience. one is reaching the top of the step ,foreward the front stage ,while the other walks toward the back. the stage remain unfalled but as the audience performer lefts.

It collapse. Which metaphors the contradiction of a actors career, pleasing the mainstream as lossing his/her own.

The site is on the side corridor of the lobby ,with a few steps raised from the lobby main area,which is three floor seiling hieght while the corridor is normal floor hieght.

This create the stage feeling on it's self of the site ,which the design is using such effect to define a stage front and back.

The front raised against the steps turn into a visual center and the actor moved up from the back ,with the shrinking of the space, the freedom of movement is denied. Being vulnerable as it would be.

Space in the installation could be split into two indepented space that start to collapse into each other. the contact surface serves as a perform catalyst .

This topic is base on renewing our architecture department and library section.

redefine the relation of department,which is built by reknowned Mr. Han, Pao-teh (漢寶 德) with the site on campus.

Focused on the reading/representation of geograph/nature/humanity of the campus culture.

02 The double-slit interference

The design of this new library section brought up the issue of the architecture department always felt isolated from the campus with it's modernism look ,the full white facade.

With a close analysis of the trees and hills ,the section of library pulled out from the main building,gently rasied from the ground ,passed away the trees and hiding under the shades.Creating a radial form of open space serves as a new contact between envoirnment.

Within the campus ,building are tend to seperated from the road ,while the side route was offset for 5 meters and turns out to be disjointed, was inserted a plaza for transition.

While the design provide a figure to united the intelligible of the route.

ARTICULATION

The library section seperated ,provide a high ceiling that extend to the outside creating a route from the inner of the department extends to the edge into campus.

While also create a 'inner facade' that secure the plaza next to the building,which seats all kind of architecture students' activities.

02 Street Study /Classic Avenue Research

FFor the first part of exercise, we got to choose two of the street as subject in taiwan general metroplican enviornment.

These two study would be devided into several topic to discuss. such as analysis as notation characteristic ,denisty ,personal sensing (topology) ,zoning ,anchoring point.... which is aim at developing skills of diagram with personality representaion and conduct a view point on these street and study

This phase we are encouraged to choose a subject from a well designed and urban planning city,which obtain a clear vision and type of their urban landscape patterns with street forms that could be easily recognized, as a comparsion to our previous studies.

Regent street creates by the authorities from U.K. kingdom, is far from citys we lived in ,which are growth under the capitalisim, they reshaped the road,collected the houses that faces the street. turned the street viod into a relatively concreted space, by cover up all the facade that facing the street with a classic look. interms to accomplish a route that connects the palace to the park.

03 Street Straighten & Vertical Street

This part we turn the street into a linear ,straight route , each route would indicate a type of hiearachy, Tree structure,main structure and so on. within the straightened route,spaces are added to fill up the viod within the route, in further, we given these spaces program and characteristic base on their street form.

Second part we bended our diagram into third dimension, inserted into site,which is base on Tiachung-Calligraphy Greenway. This part requres tactical problem solving skills, lay out the limits amount of programs that the project requries.

The river front provide a natural,green open space in the urban enviornment,in an edge connects to the East Gate Circle,which is the traffic center in HINCHU, where as the other side branch into the Vender street,which is a general scene could be founded in taiwan urban fabric.

04 Site Intergration / Contextual Progrramme

Introduce such concept into site might facing the actual usablity, the situation on site and the limited flooring space,would go agianst it.

while we designing such project we are required to using a linear spacial experimentoreint way to approach our design while maintain a feasible architecture.

Using section as intergration for all the experiences and create a vertical street inside a building.

05 Media Center design

This project is delicated to design a versatile use of lecture and educational use. it could seem as a extend of school use spaces ,while citizens are couraged to enter the building to share all kind of activites , it is a project that is welcome for all walks of lives.

seperates the usage of the actual students,teacher, whomever what to use the service here, verse the one that is just for recreational use and include the e-sport center. which is more lesuire/public used -oriented.

while the inner plazza seems to be no use and away from the route to get great usage of the building, it actually having the stair cores facing the plazza which turn it into the most efficiency path to enter. This guarantees the liveness of the ground platform.

The route begins from the inner plazza walk along through bookstore,co-working garden,educational center,the showroom get across the classroom end up to the administration office.

This route is set up for those who are going to use the service in this building, while others remain at the ground floor with a different route.

The topic is about the the relation between "Route" and "Target" as a concept to unfold a spacial structure ,establish a mechanism of enviornment/urban comunicate with human.

As people moved in space it starts create past and present even future . Every movement is about further/closer a target and it create a mind of memory for one to make judgement.

I think the common of urban and an architecture is about the "pre-conscious limit" we all predict about future which limits the chance we experience a "place".

SITE ANALYSIS

Reading from the street with different scale ,from a urban develop to walk through it personal.

Analysis on venders type, store front and the usage of the unformal occupation of street.Having a strong bond on usage on large scale movement, hourly usage and even specific type of people usage could be relate to .

MENTAL MAP & MEMORY

Reading from a personal perspective ,split up to three part scenario , mind plan and perspective main element as the route been cut into sections ,it shows the relation between each other and their distinct place.

Using same method to read from model and Chen-kuan Lee's李承寬 "Haus Schoeffel" and carpenter center to read about the outside-in effect and the transition of space and feeling .

PLAN & ARTICULATION

With the squarish site ,the building is settled with a angle from the site ,create a occupation of the street while openned up the outdoor space facing the park near by for connection. This tuned up a space "Genius Loci"

The building stands behind all high rise building which reversed the privacy of the third and first floor everyone could have a glimpse on the roof with a full publicity, while the second floor served as a closure space with a gym that reminds/resets the feeling of a open space.

FACADE & DETAIL

The facade served both fuctional and spiritful , it create a monumental of the city landscape as a background of field ,also the screen of the facade wiggles reminds of the freshness while serving as a chimney ventilates the court underneath.

Structure are different weight transfer on the second and third floor , third floor is packed with 80cm thick soil for a open roof top garden and choosed trees, with up standing beams underneath the soil ,while also turns the second floor to a flat/out curved RC ceiling for relatively a inner space as "reminder/reset"

critical regionalism should adopt modern architecture, critically, for its universal progressive qualities but at the same time value should be placed on the geographical context of the building. Emphasis, Frampton says, should be on topography, climate, light;on tectonic form rather than on scenography

The Fallen of historic street

Rammed earth atelier as a re-joint of community and market

"Adobe" the house that is front of a stream ,where the creative started from nature.

In Spanish refered as Clay, Water, Straw , it is a beauty of the informality and its nature looking.

01 Informality of Use

Taiwan, a country used to be dominated by Japanese since 1895 till 1945 bombard with imported goods and the rasie of economy in a rapid pave. The infrastucture such as ports, vender streets, factories ,which support such movement, weren't able to built properly in these newcoming rising places.

And that is when the imformality of use start to become a common in Taiwan "The creativiity of peasants" . Turns out such urban arctifacts start to raise our notice.

02 Informality of a site

The site ,situated on a steep hill ,connecting the port from the river side, to the town that stood on the top. the ancestors cut the hill with a nearly parallel row to 1. Gain a mini store front for buisness, 2. Maximum the capacity for accomadation. Created a 5x70m street housing from rammed earth structure and brich arch street front.

03 Informality as a power

The more active of a informal vendering is a sigh of a lively community , but company with the problem such as hygiene, crowded, exclusive for local. the mix-up with organized maket place and rammed earth atelier as a Regional Revitalization. Taking advantage of a informality of power ,farmer, community engaged to renew the old street.

04 Rammed earth

With the own practice of learning from dirt, study with different material how to engaged in the process of making mud brick. With a delicate record of the specs and process of producing, we are able to try out varied methods that is base on different structural behavior apart from conventional way of production.

Pull (extrude) : with cable prestress mud brick

Cut : from flat land and stacked up

Pound : adding press through different thickness of steel bar

Interlock with steel handle for workflow which later become the stand of mud brick

05 Design a System for sustain and Energetic with Rust

The project celebrate the dirt from the ground peasants as a worker, while the ancentors gathered to built for their own during they leave the land fallow This project as a atelier stands on the plain land with dirt ,as a anchor to renew the old street house with a modern rammed earth technic. With a strong contrast with the market on the back which stands on a flat clean surface of concrete.

The whole project tied up into one with the daily routine of a community would be, preserved such activeness within the building.
