Notes: • Make sure to pan fry the corn tortillas first on a medium heat with a little butter or olive oil.

They not only stay together better, but they taste much better too.

• Put the spinach on tortillas first.

• If you want any sauteed vegetables, sauteed them next with butter or olive oil. Distribute evenly between the tortillas.

• Turn down the heat of the pan to low before putting in the eggs.

• For the eggs, break them open into a bowl before the pan so it is easier to take the shells out if any fall in.

• Whip the eggs and a splash of cream with a fork or whisk until it is frothy.

Make sure the pan has cooled down a bit before putting the eggs in.

• Coat the pan in butter or oil and pour in the eggs.

Use a rubber spatula to slowly stir the eggs so they cook and scramble evenly.

• Just before they finish cooking, take them off the heat and fold in the spices and cheese, and put back on the heat until finished.

• Evenly distribute to tortillas and top off with siracha if desired.

“You have a pretty face” - “Do you really think you should wear that?” - “Are you sure you want to eat that?”

Have any of you heard these questions before? I’d bet money that almost everyone has heard one of these things and a million more. The problem with statements like these is that they wear away at our confidence that we know how to feed ourselves and that is a travesty. The diet industry makes billions of dollars annually banking on the fact that you don’t trust yourself enough to eat the way you’d like to. Now I know that the last sentence got some snorts and scoffs. You’re probably saying something like, “If I trusted myself to eat the way I want to I’d eat my way to 300 plus pounds.” So many of us are afraid to trust we know how to eat. Let’s look at some facts on eating.

It means tracking your food intake and how you feel both emotionally and physically. It means paying close attention to if you are hungry when you eat and noticing when you’ve had enough and actually stopping eating despite how good the food tastes. I spend a lot of time with people who say things like, “I shouldn’t eat this but I just want it” only to hear them complain for hours after how “full,” “uncomfortable”, “sick” and “stupid” they were. They become both physically unwell from too much food and emotionally unwell from too much self-criticism. When is the discomfort enough to make them consider another way of eating?

1. If we listened to our bodies we would eat only when we were hungry.

2. If we listened to our bodies we would stop eating when we were satisfied.

3. We would eat foods that helped us to feel our best physically.

It just doesn’t make sense, does it? Most of us know how and what to eat yet the changes go unmade. Why? Part of the reason is the lack of self-trust. The message we’ve heard for years that we don’t know how to feed ourselves is ingrained as a truth on our inner psyche. Maybe you can try to make room in there for the possibility that perhaps, just perhaps, that is not a truth at all but a lie perpetuated by a myth that (primarily) women are supposed to look a certain way and in order to achieve that we must punish ourselves with one horrible diet after another. Let’s start to treat our bodies as the temple they are with kindness, love and trust. Until next time, eat healthy, be happy.

4. We would eat foods that helped us feel our best emotionally.

This statement deserves some discussion. Not only would eating food that our body needs help to quiet our inner critic (no critic, no shame), but research is also pointing to the direct correlation between what we eat and our mental state. What we put in our mouth matters more than just for our waistline.

5. Eating according to our bodies needs means we would achieve an ideal weight without having to diet.

Rover Rescue How to Make a Car Ride Easier on Your Pup

Motion sickness in dogs is a regular occurrence. Younger dogs are more prone to car sickness, as their ears are not fully developed. Ears help maintain balance in the body.

Some pups will grow out of this with age, some may need to explore other options. Ear infections or high levels of anxiety and stress can cause temporary motion sickness.

Opening a car window slightly can balance the outside air pressure with the inside of the car air pressure, which can reduce nausea. Keeping the temperature of the car at a midrange, comfortable temperature helps as well. Special dog seatbelts not only keep your pup safer, but also keep them facing forward and their bodies at more of an equilibrium.

Limiting food intake or skipping a meal until after the trip is also effective.

Desensitization to cars can begin with short intervals where the car may not even be moving. High value foods like peanut butter, cheese, etc. can help entice dogs into or near the car. Short sessions with positive experiences are the best way to increase comfort around and inside vehicle. Patience and willingness to go slow helps allow dogs to get comfortable.

Once they get comfortable inside the car, starting out with short car rides to positive places is a good start.

In some cases, anti-nausea medications prescribed by a veterinarian may be a necessity. Anti-anxiety meds may also lower anxiety level enough to reduce nausea. In lieu of prescription drugs, there are supplements and herbs also used to help.

Some familiar items will help dogs in cars.

Toys, blankets, bones, and kongs, bring home comforts to the vehicle. These will keep it a little more comfortable and make the dogs seem like they are in a familiar environment. A crate can also help a dog seen safe, secure, and less carsick.

Making frequent stops allows tour dog to get up, stretch its gets, and breathe some fresh air. We all need breeks to stretch our legs and get back on solid ground, and dogs are no different. A short walk and a little water can help your pup feel; revigorated. Your equilibrium improves when on steady ground.

While there are no cure-alls for dog-motion sickness there are certainly plenty of possible solutions to try out if your pup is struggling. Restricting meals, practicing short card rides, bringing comfort items like blanket or toys, or exploring anti-anxiety medications or supplements are all great options. Car rides are meant to be a positive experience for both dogs and humans involved, and the more comfortable dogs are the more enjoyable for all invited.

Plants don’t possess the same senses as humans but are pretty good at forming a picture of the world around them. Plants can even influence and communicate with each other as well as other creatures. The evidence for plant communication is only a few decades old, but in that time it has leapt from electrifying discovery to decisive debunking to resurrection. Two studies published in 1983 demonstrated that willow trees, poplars ad sugar maples can warn each other about insect attacks. Scientists observed undamaged trees near ones under attack began pumping out bud-repelling chemicals to ward off infestation. Somehow the trees knew what their neighbors were experiencing and reacted to it. This meant that brainless trees could send, receive and interpret messages.

Farmers may be able to adopt this chatter, tweaking food plants or agricultural practices so crops may defend themselves better against predators.

In the lab, when insects were fed leaves from infested trees, they grew more slowly. The insects growth was also stunted when fed leaves from undamaged plants nearby. Almost every green plant that’s been studied releases its own cocktail of volatile chemicals and many species register and respond. For example. The smell of cut grass may be pleasant to us, but to plants signals danger on the way. The possibility that plants routinely share information isn’t just intriguing botany, it could be a means to improve crop resistance to pests. The science of plant talk is challenging long-held definitions of communication and behaviors as the sole province of animals. Each new discovery changes what we thought we knew about what plants do and what they can do.

Recently a plant signaling pioneer Ted Farmer of the University of Lousanne discovered an almost entirely unrecognized way that plants transmit information with electrical pulses.

The Power of Positive Thinking Fielding a Barrage of Information on Coronavirus

If you aren’t sick of hearing about this coronavirus epidemic, then let me lend your ear. The news of this outbreak making it into the United States has everyone on edge. With this virus being so close to home leaves us feeling a bit helpless in how to prep for it should it make it even closer to our hometown. There are some holistic approaches that we can exercise to prep ourselves and our family. First, we should look at the science of this officially named nCoV-2019 or otherwise known as the coronavirus.

The coronavirus that has originated from Wuhan, China is a SARS like virus and is determined it to be 75 to 80 percent match to SARS-CoV and 85 percent plus similar to multiple coronaviruses found in bats. It has yet been determined whether the infection is as lethal as SARS. The symptoms of the coronavirus are runny nose, cough, sore throat, mild to moderate upper respiratory tract illness. Contracting the virus is as similar as contracting the common cold.

But what, if anything, can we do to protect ourselves and our family? In my research to empower myself against this fearful bug, has led me to a few natural supplements and practices to help defend it and fight it. In my research, I have read that HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus), HSV-2 (Herpes simplex virus), HCV (Hepatitis C) and the Ebola virus have a glycoprotein shell that surrounds the virus just like the coronavirus. This protective shell is why it is so difficult to treat the virus. Research has shown that mannose-binding lectins have shown to penetrate and crack this protective shell that surrounds the virus. One such lectin has been found in red algae. “The Griffithsia species of red algae seem to have broad spectrum of antiviral activity of binding by binding oligomannose glycans on viral envelope glycoproteins.” Unfortunately, you will not find this species on the shelf. The government saw its amazing healing properties and patented it. It is used to treat HIV and other viral diseases. The good news is red algae does have amazing antiviral properties as well as immune support.

In addition to beginning the protocol of red algae, HIGH doses of vitamin C is also in order. Vitamin C has shown powerful antiviral action against viruses in general but in this case the coronavirus. It is extremely important to maximize the body’s anti-oxidative capacity and natural immunity to prevent and minimize symptoms when a virus attacks the human body. The host environment is crucial. Also, incorporate natural vitamin C through foods rich in vitamin C. Think broccoli, brussels sprouts, lemons, strawberries, oranges, etc.
