Week 04 - Interviews Habitat for Humanity Time: April 18th, 2012 Office: 1106 E 70th Street

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. Using volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, they build and sell homes to partner families at 0% interest. Partner families make monthly mortgage payment and work 350 hours of “sweat equity” building their own homes. Homeowners are able to realize the dream of homeownership paying low monthly mortgage payments over a 30-year period. Partner families are chosen by local Family Selection Committee. The committee is responsible for setting criteria, reviewing applications, and carefully choosing the families who qualify for the program. Interview and home visits are used to identify families in greatest need. Takeaway - 350 hours of “sweat equity”. - Monthly mortgage payments over a 30-year period. - Application criteria of credit history, income record, documented evaluation, and etc.
