Zuster is Dutch for sister. In design terms, Zuster symbolises a legacy of quality Australian design and craftsmanship that embraces five generations of Dutch family heritage. Today, sisters Wilhelmina McCarroll and Fleur Sibbel draw on Zuster’s hand-crafting expertise to forge a signature approach that is distinctive in its beauty and refinement.

Distinctive and Visionary Zuster x She Built
A LANDMARK COLLABORATION IN SOUTH MELBOURNE
At Zuster, we take pride in collaborating with visionary designers and architects to create bespoke furniture solutions that seamlessly integrate with architectural design. Our recent partnership with She Built, led by Director Anne Michaels, is a testament to our commitment to craftsmanship, innovation, and supporting women in design and construction.
From the initial design phase, we worked closely with Anne and architect Clair Scorpo from Agius Scorpo Architects to realise their vision for a landmark commercial building in South Melbourne. Inspired by the heritage-listed former ANZ bank, the project required a refined approach to materiality, detailing, and cohesion between architecture and interiors.
To complement the building’s striking façade, Zuster custom-designed bathroom vanities featuring intricate door fronts that reflect the architectural elements of the exterior. In addition, we furnished the foyer and breakout areas, ensuring a seamless flow between the building’s historic character and modern functionality.
This project exemplifies how Zuster’s bespoke capabilities bring architectural concepts to life, offering a tailored approach to commercial interiors. By combining craftsmanship with innovation, we continue to create furniture solutions that enhance both aesthetic and functional design outcomes.
