Die 'Isfahan Kollektion' wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit dem mailändischen Unter­ nehmen SoFar SoNear und Zollanvari erarbeitet.

Das Streben nach nachhaltiger und fairer Produktion im High-End-Segment, hat die beiden Unternehmen zusammengeführt.

So entstand eine perfekte Symbiose von Design, Kreativität, Wissen und Können.

Die Teppichknüpfkunst findet ihren Ursprung im alten Persien. Die Technik, die Wahl der geknüpften Themen und die Far­ben, mit denen die Wolle gefärbt wird haben alle eine starke Bedeutung. Sowohl in der Vergangenheit als auch in der heutigen Kultur. Die Suche und die Achtung dieser Elemente ist die Basis der 'Isfahan Kollektion '.

SoFarSoNear recherchierte einige Jahre um die Ursprünge und Ikonographie der persischen Teppiche zu studieren und zu verstehen. Ihr Ziel war, nicht einfach ein modernes Muster zu entwerfen, das an das klassische Design erinnert. Die Herausforderung bestand vielmehr darin, die traditionellen Muster in die heutige Zeit zu integrieren, wodurch das Wesen des Originals beibehalten wird..

Damit ein Design auch ins heutige Ambiente passt, wurde eine Palette moderner Farben verwendet. Die 'Isfahan Kollektion' bietet beides, sowohl traditionelle als auch trendige Farben.

The 'Isfahan Collection‘ was created in ­collaboration with the Milan-based company SoFar SoNear and Zollanvari.

The quest for sustainable and fair production in high-end segment, has merged the two companies, which resulted in a perfect symbiosis of design, creativity, knowledge and skill.

Antique Persia is where fine carpet weaving began.The technique, the choice of the subjects to be weaved and the colors with whom the yarn were dyed have all a strong meaning in the past and the present culture.The search and the respect of these elements is at the base of the 'Isfahan Collection’.

SoFarSoNear worked a couple of years to study and understand the origins and the iconography of Persian carpets.Their goal was not just to design a modern pattern that reminds of the Classics.The challenge was to move the traditional motifs into the contemporary world, thus keeping the intrinsic nature of the Persian carpet.

Adding a palette of modern shades, is key to allow a design to fit in a contemporary setting.

The 'Isfahan Collection’ features both traditional and trendy colors.

Update

'Update' bezeichnet die Art und Weise wie die Designs überarbeitet wurden.

‘Update’ distinguishes the way the Classics are revised. In this case, the stylistic values and the signs remain true to the origin.

Betrachtet man das fertige Design, stellt man fest, dass die klassischen Motive nicht verändert, sondern lediglich erneuert wurden.

Mit dem ersten Motiv haben wir an einem typischen, von den Knüpferinnen beliebten Objekt, die Moschee von Isfahan, gearbeitet. In einer zweiten Fassung wurde das Bild in 'Dots' zerlegt, so dass das ursprüngliche Motiv nicht gleich erkennbar ist.

In beiden Ausführungen ist das ursprüngliche Motiv deutlich sichtbar. Abhängig von der Distanz, von welcher aus man den Teppich betrachtet, ändert sich die Struktur und verleiht ihm einen moderneren oder gar glanzvolleren Eindruck.

Looking at the final patterns, the classic signs were renovated without changing them.

With the first motif, we’ve been working on a typical subject loved by the weavers, the Mosque of Isfahan.

By disassembling the image into ‘dots’ the beholder is unable to immediately identify the original picture.

In both designs the original image is clearly visible. It is the structure that changes according to the distance the carpet is looked at or the sensation it gives, more contemporary or even glamorous.

Reload

Die Idee von 'reload' ist, die ursprüngliche Architektur des klassischen Teppichs neu zu übersetzen, und ihm ein Zeichen ausserhalb der selben Kultur hinzuzufügen.

The idea of ‘reload’ is to traduce the original architecture of a classic Persian carpet, applying a sign that is sourced outside the same culture.

Eine erste Annäherung bestand darin, die Struktur und Symbole eines persischen Teppichs manuell zu reproduzieren.

Eine weitere Möglichkeit in diese Richtung zu arbeiten war der Einbezug eines europäischen Kultursymbols anstelle eines Orientalischens.

Das fertige Design erinnert an die faszinierende Geometrie der Mashrabiyas, die traditionellen Erker umschlossen mit geschnitztem Holz.

Schlussendlich ist 'reload' ein Design, dass den Klassikern gleichgestellt werden kann, aber deutlich mit einem globaleren und zeitgemässerem Muster ausgestattet ist.

A first approach we’ve followed, was to reproduce the structure and the symbols of a Persian carpet using a manual gesture.

Another way to work in this direction, was to use an iconic pattern, familiar to the European culture, but not to the Arabic one.

The final design reminds of the fascinating geometries of the Mashrabiya, the traditional oriel windows enclosed with carved wood.

Finally, ‘reload’ is a design that can be assimilated to the Classics, but clearly featuring a more global and contemporary pattern.
