CASE NOTES CASE 201-74
DATE: 30/11/1932
DETECTIVE: PHOEBE KNIGHT
It’s been two weeks since this case came to me, and I’m no closer to solving it.
The victim, Johnathan Constance, seems to lack any relationships that aren’t tinged with suspicion. Every potential suspect stands to benefit from his untimely death, and no one appears genuinely upset about his demise.
The more I investigate, the less the pieces seem to fit together.
DIARY ENTRY
DECEMBER 25TH, 1932
Today marked the start of a puzzling chapter aboard the luxurious Phoenix Express. The excitement and nervousness in the air were clear as all the suspects in Johnathan’s case were called together.
I felt a strong urge to follow closely, eager to find out the truth behind his sudden death. Samantha Grant, Johnathan’s lawyer, shared that the will she brought was not simple at all.
Each suspect received a page from Johnathan’s mysterious final testament—a riddle they must solve to claim their share of the inheritance. The rule is clear: they must stay on the train until it reaches its final stop.
Tension filled the air; every look exchanged was filled with suspicion. As I watched the interactions among the suspects, I couldn’t help but wonder who among them had the worst intentions and who stood to gain
the most from Johnathan’s death. Each person holds their own secrets, and the atmosphere is charged with unspoken accusations.
What lies beneath their carefully built walls? This journey promises more than just answers about Johnathan’s wishes; I feel deep down that it may also reveal the
twisted reasons behind his mysterious death. I must stay alert and focused, as the pieces of this complicated puzzle start to come together.
Somewhere on this train, the truth is hiding among the secrets of the past and the shadows of the present.
I can’t shake the feeling that every hour spent aboard the Phoenix Express brings us closer to a big discovery—one that could change everything.
I can only hope that by the end of this journey, justice will rise from the ruins of lies. This story is far from over; in fact, it has only just begun.
MURDER PHOENIX EXPRESS
THE GAMEPLAY
You find yourself aboard the luxurious Phoenix Express, enveloped in intrigue and suspense. In your hands, you clutch a letter delivered by a mailman just yesterday morning. It contains a brief message asking you to come to the Phoenix Express to uncover a mystery involving an old acquaintance.
Approached by a perplexed detective, you notice her keen eyes scanning your face as if trying to read a book. Without a word, she hands you a first-class ticket. The silence lingers until you both safely reach a cabin where another person awaits, a bag sealed tightly on his lap.
An unsolved mystery is unfolding, and you can’t help but wonder—was this all part of a larger plan? You might find yourself pondering the same question. One thing is certain: you’re now entangled in this case, whether you like it or not.
Sometimes, an outside perspective can be just what a detective needs to crack the puzzle. What do you think? What secrets or insights do you possess that could help unravel this mystery?
STEP 1
UPGRADE YOUR TICKET TO FIRST CLASS
The detective already has your First-Class ticket, as the suspects are travelling aboard a private carriage. Simply approach the Ticket Window and speak to the Detective, she will be waiting.
Included with the First Class ticket is an enve -
ON THE
lope containing a tracker that will assist you during the game.
- Registrations will begin at 18:30 ST, and the game starts at 19:00 ST (registrations are available through entire evening)
STEP 2
THE SAFE AND IT ’ S SECRET
The family’s lawyer possesses a safe containing a secret that could turn the investigation upside down - something Johnathan Constance hid from his family and friends.
The safe requires a combination made up of five parts, each held by one of the suspects.
According to the detective, the suspects are unwilling to share their pieces, perhaps content with Johnathan’s demise or wary of revealing the truth.
The detective believes you might have better luck persuading them.
STEP 3
SUSPECTS AND MECHANICS
1. Approach each suspect in any order
2. Use your wits and charm to retrieve each piece of the code.
3. Once you’ve gathered the full combination, report back to the Detective or Lawyer to unlock the safe and reveal the secret.
Each suspect has a unique interaction required to gain their part of the code. Read the clues carefully and roleplay accordingly at your discretion (roleplay isn’t required and is optional).
If you want to skip the fluff and read at what’s needed for each, look for the Layman’s Terms section beneath each suspect. These must be revealed manually.
After retrieving a number, mark it under the correct person on the game card, like this one:
STEP 4
CRACKING THE SAFE
Once you have collected all five parts of the combination:
- Approach the Lawyer
- Hand over the combination to unlock the safe
Inside lies the secret that could change everything. Solve the mystery, and uncover the truth about Johnathan Constance’s demise.
Good luck, detective.
THE SAFE COMBINATION
THE MAID
Clue:
The Maid’s connection to the game of Blackjack might be the key. She carries an old deck of cards in her apron pocket, worn and faded from years of use. A friendly wager or a quick game might loosen her lips and reveal her part of the safe code. Observe her closely - she’s as sharp as the edge of a card.
Layman’s Terms:
Challenge the Maid to a simplified version of Blackjack, and she will give you her piece of the safe code.
THE WIFE
Clue:
The Wife has a weakness for mix-
ology. Perhaps, pleasing her palate with her favourite cocktail will earn you the clue you seek? Rumour has it that the bartender, fed up, seeks a proxy to give her back a napkin with a strange combination. Will you decide to bring it back to her, or walk off indulging in the drink?
Layman’s Terms:
Approach the Wife, and she will describe her favourite drink. Purchase it for her at the bar, and the bartender will give you a napkin with the safe code written on it along with the cocktail.
Whether you choose to bring both back to the Wife is... entirely up to you.
THE DAUGHTER
Clue:
The Daughter seems eager for a diversion amidst the chaos of the family.
A simple game of Rock, Paper, Scissors might be all they need to
hand over their piece of the code. But don’t let the simplicity fool you - this one likes to win. Best them at their game, and they’ll hand over the information you seek with a grin and a glint of mischief in their eye.
Layman’s Terms:
Challenge the Child to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Beat them in a best-of-5 match to win their piece of the safe code.
THE PARTNER
Clue:
The Partner seems to have misplaced a valuable item - a jewellery of sentimental significance. Helping them recover it might soften their guarded demeanor. Should you fail to find what they’ve lost, a thoughtful replacement might suffice. But tread carefully: this individual is both sensitive and suspicious.
Win their trust, and their piece of the code may come willingly.
Layman’s Terms:
The detective gives you a missing piece of jewellery at the start. Hand it to the Partner to instantly resolve the situation and receive their code. Otherwise, you may have to trade another item and hope this will fill their void.
THE MAFIA
Clue:
Challenging this dangerous individual to a game of Russian Roulette could pique their interest. Be prepared for a game of nerve and luck.
Though they may seem menacing, their theatrics might reveal a softer side - especially if you prove yourself braver than most.
Earning their respect is essential if you want their piece of the code.
Layman’s Terms:
Both participants roll `/dice 6` until someone rolls a 6, which represents the “bullet.”
Detective Phoebe Knight is no stranger to unravelling mysteries, but this time, the stakes feel strangely personal.
The Phoenix Express, an elegant vessel of movement and secrets, will soon carry her into the heart of Johnathan Constance’s final riddle.
His will is no mere document—it’s a labyrinth of intent, a game designed to force enemies and allies to confront their truths. The suspects, bound together by fragments of a maddening puzzle, hold keys not just to his death, but to the fractures he left in their lives.
The pocket watch pendant, Johnathan’s first creation, pulsed in her mind—a relic of ambition and betrayal, its hidden compartment an enigma in itself. Why would a man so calculating leave his legacy in pieces, entrusted to those least likely to cooperate? The deeper Phoebe dived, the more the case feels like a mirror, reflecting not just Johnathan’s legacy, but the human condition itself— greed, longing, and the insidious power of secrets.
Packing her things, she prepares for the unmistakable and unknown, diving headfirst into the fight for inheritance and the mystery of who killed the late millionaire.
She cannot do this alone, though. The suspects guard their secrets closely, and Johnathan’s safe—the ultimate key to the case—remains locked behind a code that only the cleverest can crack. Her letter should have already reached an old acquaintance, a question or perhaps a plea for help. Their task? To dig into the lies and half-truths, question suspects, and connect the scattered fragments of Johnathan’s life. They must piece together the puzzle, uncover the truth hidden in his safe, and help Phoebe bring this twisted game to its conclusion.
The stakes couldn’t be higher, and time is running out. Will they rise to the challenge and help Detective Knight solve the mystery before the train reaches its final stop?
PHOEBE KNIGHT THE DETECTIVE
DIARY ENTRY
DECEMBER 12TH, 1932
As I sift through the files of the suspects involved in the case, I can’t shake the feeling that each of them harbors secrets.
The Maid, a lifelong servant to the Constance family, presents as a quiet presence. Her sharp wit and laughter mask a deeper knowledge of the late Johnathan. It’s evident he found solace frequently in his glass of whisky, but I suspect she knows more than she’s revealing.
Next is the Wife, elegantly poised yet seemingly unfazed by her mourning. That sparkle
in her eye hints at indulgence rather than grief; her expensive tastes and cocktail obsession suggest there’s something she’s hiding. If anyone has insight into Johnathan’s affairs, it would be her, but good luck prying anything from her lips.
Then there’s the Partner—an emotional wreck, frantically searching the compartments. Their genuine sorrow seems intertwined with a complicated history with Johnathan. Their reluctance to share details only heightens my suspicions; it’s clear they’re concealing something crucial.
The Mafia figure’s file stands out, an ominous presence
among the suspects. Their reputation for intimidation looms large, yet there’s a curious charisma to their brutality. They thrive on drama and respect anyone willing to stand their ground, no matter how feigned.
Finally, the Daughter’s file reveals a peculiar mix of youthful innocence and sharp intellect. The painting she done, Rochambeau, a playful nod to a child’s game, might just hold the key to unlocking her cooperation.
With each page, I am reminded of the tangled web of deception surrounding this case. The pressure mounts as I prepare to peel back the facades and uncover the truth hidden within these intriguing characters.
JOHNATHAN CONSTANCE THE VICTIM
VICTIM PROFILE
Age: 62
Occupation: Business
Partner and CEO of Constance Enterprises
Known Personality Traits
- Ambitious, Manipulative and Domineering
- Viewed himself as superior, often dismissing the opinions and feelings of others
- Distrustful of allies and family alike, convinced they might betray him
THE DECEIT AND CUNNING
Johnathan Constance was a man defined by his ambition, his wealth, and his willingness to do whatever it took to expand both.
As the head of Constance Enterprises, a company that had transformed under his leadership from a humble family watchmaking business into a shadowy powerhouse of post-war weapons manufacturing.
Ruthless in business and demanding in his personal relationships, Johnathan left behind a complicated legacy and a long trail of resentment. Because, behind closed doors, those closest to him saw a man who was controlling, manipulative, and utterly indifferent to the emotional toll he inflicted on others.
His relationships were complex, defined more by power dynamics than by affection, and he wielded his influence with precision, leaving those around him with a mix of resentment, fear, and dependency.
Not one person has come forward with a positive view of the man.
RELANTIONSHIP WITH SUSPECTS
THE WIFE
In the public eye he and his wife, Eleanor, were a powerful and happy couple.
However, reports by the staff imply that behind closed doors they would constantly argue resulting in physical outbursts from both parties. Clearly not everything was happy days.
During an interview Eleanor remarked that the victim was a controlling and dismissive partner. She bitterly explained he was more invested in profits than preserving the family’s name. Johnathan was apparently a provider and a tyrant.
Record shows their marriage began as a partnership of mutual benefit—Eleanor brought her family’s respected watchmaking business into the union. Jonathan’s decision to turn the company into a weapons manufac-
turer during the Great War drove an irreparable wedge between them.
Maria, the family maid, has informed us that Eleanor resented him deeply for tarnishing her family’s legacy, and in return Johnathan dismissed her objections as irrelevant referring to her disdainfully as a “sentimental relic” during a particularly harsh fight.
Johnathan’s relationship with Lizzie was even more contentious. Based on his Last Will, he very clearly had grand plans for his only child, expecting her to follow in his footsteps and take over the family empire. But Lizzie’s artistic ambitions and moral objections to the business led to constant clashes.
Lizzie in a quiet confession admitted that to Johnathan, Lizzie was a disappointment—a dreamer who refused to “live in the real world.”
She states he would belittle her passions and often reminded her of how she depended on him financially.
Numerous reports from family friends corroborate this, apparently every public interaction between the two of them was a test of wills, Jonathan’s domineering nature was the primary force driving Lizzie little
Despite their conflicts, it’s clear Johnathan expected Lizzie to fall in line eventually, refusing to disinherit her despite his threats.
- The victim reportedly keeps one of his daughters’ paintings in his private study and a picture of her in his suit jacket, implying his harsh demeanour wasn’t all that dwelled between them.
THE PARTNER
Johnathan’s partnership with Henry Cavanaugh began as a fruitful alliance.
Henry, a serious man brought a keen eye for strategy and innovation, whilst Johnathan’s wild tactics seemed to have had the audacity to take risks. Together, they built Constance Enterprises into a powerhouse. However, as time went on, Johnathan’s hunger for power grew unchecked, and his increasingly dangerous deals—especially those with the criminal underworld—left Henry alienated in business standings.
The partnership at some point has devolved into mutual distrust, Henry stating feeling sidelined and increasingly alarmed by Johnathan’s recklessness.
- By the time of his death, their relationship had shifted from camaraderie to an uneasy truce.
Henry laying down the foundations to extricate himself from Johnathan’s shadow and Johnathan showed no signs of slowing down.
derestimated Alessandro, seeing him as a convenient partner but never as his equal. Alessandro, in turn, viewed Johnathan as a liability a man blinded by greed and arrogance who would eventually bring trouble to their dealings.
him had more reasons to see him gone than to mourn his loss.
Each of the suspects in his murder had a unique relationship with him, but they all shared one thing: a profound sense that the world might be better off without him.
As her boss, Johnathan was both a livelihood and a looming threat to Maria. With multiple years of service, she would have had given a front-row seat to his temper and manipulative tendencies.
She described him as demanding, never acknowledging her loyalty or hard work.
My investigations show evidence that the victim was increasingly suspicious of her as rumours of her gambling problems reached him.
Once of his last recorded actions was Johnathan’s termination of Maria’s contract.
- “I tried to remain invisible in his presence, he seemed to purposely seek me out to torment me. Always finding something to belittle me about. I swear he seemed to almost take pleasure in it.” - A quote from Maria Alvarez
THE MAID THE ALLEGED ASSOCIATE
Johnathan and Alessandro shared a business relationshipbuilt on mutual benefit but rife with tension.
Alessandro provided access to lucrative black-market buyers for Constance Enterprises’ arms, and Johnathan reaped the profits.
Yet, their alliance was never built on trust. It’s clear Johnathan un-
- Tension on both sides making the situation increasingly hostile, with both manoeuvring to outwit the other, and it’s possible that Johnathan’s paranoia about Alessandro was not entirely unfounded.
DETECTIVE NOTES
Johnathan Constance’s relationships were a reflection of his character: transactional, domineering, and devoid of genuine warmth. Johnathan was shrewd, calculating, and utterly single-minded, traits that served him well in building his empire but left little room for genuine connections.
While he viewed himself as the centre of a powerful network, those around him saw only the strings he pulled to keep them in line.
He thrived on control and expected unquestioning loyalty, but in the end, those closest to
His death wasn’t just the loss of a man—it was the unravelling of a web he had spun to keep everyone under his thumb.
To my family and those who called themselves my allies:
You have all, in your own ways, been a disappointment to me. My wife, who refused to see the greatness I built for her. My daughter, who squandered her potential. My partner whom I lost to cowardice. Even my servants and allies took much and gave little in return.
My fortune will not go to the undeserving- to the one among you who proves worthy by uncovering the truth of my demise. The answer lies within the clues I have scattered, and aboard the train where you will gather.
Only when the truth is laid bare will the prize be claimed. Until then, my wealth remains locked away, beyond the reach of the undeserving.
SUSPECT PROFILE
Age: 56
Occupation: Socialite and primary shareholder in Constance Enterprises
Known Personality Traits
- Socially astute, polished, and outwardly poised
- Concerned with appearances, protective of her family’s reputation
- Deeply resentful of her husband’s decisions, especially those that tarnished the family legacy
MOTIVE
Eleanor’s motivation to see Johnathan gone is unmistakable: his death would restore her financial independence and grant her full control over the business.
She could either dismantle the arms operation and sell the company or restore it to its respectable roots. Additionally, she would finally free herself from the man who
ELEANOR CONSTANCE THE WIFE
However, her dreams of a prosperous, respectable business were soon challenged. As the years passed, Johnathan’s ambitions began to overshadow any consideration for family heritage. During the Great War, he shifted the business to weapons manufacturinga choice that Eleanor reluctantly tolerated, convinced it was temporary and patriotic. But with the war’s end, Johnathan’s focus remained on arms production, partnering with questionable figures to sustain profits. This decision strained their marriage, and Eleanor grew increasingly disillusioned, feeling her family legacy slipping into
had tarnished her family’s name. Though she presents herself as the grieving widow, her controlled demeanour and faint signs of relief suggest her sorrow may be largely for show.
ALIBI
On the night of Johnathan’s murder, Eleanor claims she was attending a charity gala, an event she had chaired, and which drew much of the city’s upper class.
murky waters she never wanted to enter. Their marriage, once strong, had become a business arrangement, with Eleanor finding herself financially dependent on Johnathan, who controlled most of their assets. Despite her refined appearance and graceful demeanour, Eleanor harboured resentment, embarrassed by her husband’s dealings and resentful of her diminished role in the business she’d once dreamed of influencing.
Financially, she had little choice but to endure the marriage, until Jonathan’s death changed everything.
Several prominent attendees recall her presence, and photographs from the event place her there until around 11:00 PM. Eleanor claims she returned home directly afterward, accompanied by her driver, who corroborates her timeline.
However, once she reached the estate, she retired to her rooms, and no staff witnessed her movements until the following morning, leaving a window of opportunity in the later hours of the night.
Eleanor Constance was born into old money, her family known for their prestigious watch-making business that spanned three generations. A renowned socialite, Eleanor was raised in a world of elegance and privilege, her life devoted to family appearances and maintaining her family’s legacy.
When she married Johnathan Constance, she brought with her the esteemed family business, Constance Enterprises, entrusting it to her husband in hopes that he would uphold their traditions and values.
Eleanor’s alibi for the early part of the night is strong, with multiple witnesses placing her at the gala. However, the later hours leave a gap in which she could have returned to confront Johnathan.
She presents herself as a grieving widow, but it’s notable that, in private interviews, her words sounded more rehearsed than remorseful.
Her potential motive is considerable, especially given her long-standing resentment and need for financial autonomy.
While she does not appear physically capable of the act, her influence and social reach could have easily allowed her to hire someone to see it done, particularly if it meant reclaiming her family’s legacy.
ELIZABETH “LIZZIE” CONSTANCE
THE DAUGHTER
The only child of Johnathan and Eleanor, grew up in the shadow of her father’s domineering personality and high expectations. A free spirit by nature, Lizzie always resisted the rigid mold her father tried to fit her into. She was expected to take an active role in Constance Enterprises, being groomed as her father’s successor, but Lizzie rejected the idea entirely.
Instead, she pursued a passion for art and writing, dreaming of a bohemian lifestyle far removed from the cutthroat world of business.
Johnathan was vocal about his disappointment in his daughter, often berating her for her “irresponsibility” and “selfish pursuits.” Their relationship had grown particularly strained in recent years, culminating in Johnathan’s threat
MOTIVE ALIBI
Lizzie’s motive is both emotional and financial. Her father’s death would not only free her from his control but also secure her a substantial inheritance, giving her the independence she had always craved.
Additionally, Lizzie’s outspoken disdain for her father’s arms manufacturing and her belief that he had betrayed the family legacy add a layer of ideological justification to her potential involvement.
Interviews with the staff reveal, that on the night in question Lizzie had been confronted by her father in regards to a sensitive relationship with a female. With the threat to her love life on the line Lizzie would have had chance to take drastic action.
On the night of Johnathan’s murder, Lizzie claims she was at a local café with friends, workshopping a art piece for an upcoming gallery submission.
Three friends have confirmed her presence at the café until roughly 10:30 PM, but her whereabouts between 10:30 PM and the following morning remain unaccounted for.
Lizzie admitted to walking home alone after the café, though the route she described would have taken her near the Constance estate.
Suspiciously, Lizzie was seen arriving at the family home early the next morning, dishevelled and visibly upset. She claimed she had spent the night reflecting on her strained relationship
to disinherit her entirely if she refused to join the family business. Lizzie, for her part, had become openly defiant, calling her father’s obsession with weapons manufacturing “morally bankrupt” and accusing him of destroying the family’s reputation.
Despite their conflicts, Lizzie was close to her mother, Eleanor, and often confided in her about her struggles with her father.
Recently, Lizzie had also begun seeking financial independence through the sale of her art, but her efforts were barely enough to support her lifestyle. It’s rumored that Johnathan’s death might grant Lizzie not only a substantial inheritance but also the freedom to finally sever all ties with the business she so despised.
SUSPECT
PROFILE
Age: 25
Occupation: Painter
Known Personality Traits - Creative and headstrong, with a rebellious streak
- Deeply moralistic, particularly regarding her father’s dealings in arms manufacturing
- Passionate and emotional, often struggling to control her temper during confrontations
with her father, but her behaviour and timing have raised questions about whether she might have had a more direct role in the night’s events.
DETECTIVE NOTES
Lizzie’s rebellious nature and history of conflicts with her father make her a plausible suspect, though her emotional volatility raises doubts about her ability to execute a calculated murder. Her incomplete alibi and proximity to the estate on the night of the crime are notable, as is her potential financial gain from her father’s death. While Lizzie may lack the temperament for a premeditated act, her impulsive nature cannot be discounted, nor can the possibility that she acted out of desperation or blind rage.
SUSPECT PROFILE
Age: 58
Occupation: Business
Partner and CFO of Constance Enterprises- Accountant by Trade
Known Personality Traits
- Calculating and prudent, avoids unnecessary risks
- Tends to operate from the background, preferring not to attract attention
- Has a reputation for being ethical, though it’s been tested by Jonathan’s increasingly dubious business practices
DETECTIVE NOTES
Henry’s alibi places him away from the murder scene, but the lack of accountability after midnight leaves a potential window. His motive appears strong, though indirect Henry might have preferred Jonathan incapacitated rather than dead, simply to regain control over the company.
Nonetheless, his calm, calculating nature makes it plausible he could orchestrate an “accident” without leaving direct traces, even if outright murder feels out of character.
MOTIVE
Henry had both personal and professional motives to see Jonathan out of the picture. With Jonathan dead, Henry would have the opportunity to wrest control of Constance Enterprises
HENRY CAVANAUGH
THE PARTNER
Henry Cavanaugh, the business partner, was supposedly Johnathan’s most trusted associate— although that trust didn’t seem to run both ways. By all appearances, Henry and Johnathan built their company together, for nearly 25 years Henry steered the financial side of Constance Enterprises with a steady hand. Known for his cautious and meticulous approach, Henry was seen as the steady, sensible counterweight to Jonathan’s ambitious, often reckless drive for profit.
Henry and Jonathan originally crossed paths in the early 1900s, when Henry was a young accountant just starting out. At the time, Constance Enterprises was a modest family watch business. Recognizing Henry’s talent for finance and strategy, Jonathan brought him on board to help expand the company. Under Henry’s influence, the business grew steadily—first domestically and then internationally, especially during the Great War, when they transitioned to producing parts for weaponry, driven largely by Jonathan’s ambition and opportunism.
After the war, Henry pushed to return to their roots, advocating for a return to civilian manufacturing. This insistence put him increasingly at odds with Jonathan,
and take it in the direction he believed best, potentially dissolving the partnership with Romano and returning to the company’s original, more legitimate manufacturing focus.
Additionally, with the inheritance structure likely entitling him to a share of the business, he could either buy out Eleanor and Edward or dissolve the company altogether.
who was determined to pursue the lucrative business of arms dealing, despite the ethical and legal grey areas involved. Their disputes grew fierce, with Henry deeply uncomfortable about the shadowy connections Jonathan had started building, particularly with known criminal figures like Alessandro “The Bull” Romano.
ALIBI
On the night of Jonathan Constance’s murder, Henry claims he was at the family’s manufacturing plant, completing a surprise audit of inventory and financial records in response to his growing suspicions about Jonathan’s dealings.
Henry’s quiet resentment grew over the years, but there were no signs of a break between the two—until Jonathan’s death.
With his sudden passing, Henry’s role in Constance Enterprises is uncertain, and rumours have emerged that he stands to gain considerably if the business is restructured or sold off in parts.
Henry’s assistant, Julia Price, corroborates his presence at the plant until around midnight, when they both left.
Security logs confirm his arrival and departure at the time he specified, but no one can confirm his whereabouts between midnight and the next morning.
MARIA ALVAREZ
THE MAID
Maria Alvarez has worked for the Constance family for over a decade, serving as the primary housekeeper and confidante for Eleanor. Originally hired for her meticulous work ethic and reliability, Maria quickly became privy to the inner workings of the Constance household.
Her role extended beyond that of a typical maid; she became a quiet observer to the family’s affairs, overhearing countless arguments, especially between Johnathan and Eleanor. Known for her loyalty, Maria was privy to information that few others were, including Johnathan’s darker dealings and Eleanor’s mounting frustrations.
DETECTIVE NOTES
Maria’s alibi is flimsy, and her erratic behaviour following Johnathan’s death—alongside her gambling debts gives cause for suspicion.
Her familiarity with the estate’s layout and her proximity to the murder scene that night raise questions. Her motive, though partly rooted in personal survival, also hints at a sense of retribution against a man who threatened her livelihood.
Whether acting out of desperation or under the influence of her debtors, Maria remains a suspect capable of both deception and, potentially, more.
Despite her dependable exterior, Maria had her own struggles. She was a habitual gambler, frequently visiting the city’s underground gambling parlors. Her betting habits became a serious problem, leaving her in debt to unsavoury figures, some of whom had connections to organized crime. As her financial woes grew, Maria found herself increasingly desperate, especially when she learned of Johnathan’s plans to let her go under the pretence of “financial cutbacks.”
She understood the real reason: Johnathan had uncovered her gambling issues and didn’t want someone with questionable habits so close to the family.
This news left her in a precarious position, potentially losing both her income and access to the Constance family’s connections, which she occasionally relied upon to manage her debts.
SUSPECT PROFILE
Age: 45
Occupation: Maid and long-time household employee of the Constance family
Known Personality Traits
- Quietly observant and highly perceptive, often underestimated
- Struggles with gambling addiction, leading to significant financial trouble
- Fiercely loyal to Eleanor, though resentful of Johnathan’s treatment of her
MOTIVE ALIBI
Maria’s motive appears to be a combination of desperation and revenge. If Johnathan followed through on his plan to fire her, Maria would be left without a steady income, leaving her vulnerable to her gambling debts.
Additionally, Maria felt personally slighted by Johnathan’s disdainful treatment, especially after her years of service to the family.
Her loyalty to Eleanor and knowledge of the family’s routines could have given her both the motive and means to slip into Johnathan’s study undetected.
Maria claims she was in her quarters on the estate on the night of Johnathan’s murder, having finished her evening duties by 10:30 PM. She says she retired for the night shortly afterward.
While there are no direct witnesses to confirm this, Maria was seen by other staff members tidying up around 10:15 PM, placing her near the victim’s study an hour before the murder is believed to have taken place.
Interestingly, records reveal that Maria was seen the following morning at a gambling den in a nearby district, visibly distressed and attempting to collect winnings that supposedly had been wagered in her absence. Her claim is that she had pre-arranged the bets with a handler.
However, it raises suspicion about her late-night activities, especially given her recent debt and need for quick cash.

possible deal between the two: Alessandro would secure lucrative black-market buyers for the weapons, ensuring profits for both him and the company.
Allegedly, tensions between Alessandro and Johnathan were reported to have escalated in recent months. Witnesses claimed Johnathan had grown increasingly paranoid, believing Alessandro might be skimming profits or preparing to cut him out entirely.
For his part, Alessandro had little patience for Johnathan’s erratic behaviour, viewing him as a liability rather than an asset.
MOTIVE

Alessandro Romano, infamously known as “The Bull,” is one of the most feared and respected figures in the city’s criminal underworld. His moniker derives from his relentless, headstrong approach to both business, and conflict resolution.
Born into a family with deep Mafia roots, Alessandro climbed to prominence not through inherited power but through ruthless cunning and an unflinching ability to take advantage of opportunities.
Despite his reputation, Alessandro is a sophisticated and strategic thinker, often operating under the guise of a legitimate businessman. He oversees various enterprises, including shipping, manufacturing, and gambling operations, all the while maintaining a veneer of respectability.
It’s widely suspected that he played a role in Johnathan Constance’s decision to keep Constance Enterprises entrenched in weapons manufacturing after the war. Evidence points to a
With his growing paranoia and unreliability, Johnathan posed a risk to ‘The Bulls’ business operations, particularly the arms trade. Eliminating him would allow Alessandro to negotiate directly with other parties in Constance Enterprises or even absorb the company’s manufacturing capabilities into his own operations.
Additionally, removing Johnathan could serve as a warning to others who might consider crossing him.
ALIBI
On the night of Johnathan’s murder, Alessandro claims he was at a private club hosting a highstakes poker game with several prominent figures, serving as a seemingly unbreakable defence. Witnesses at the club confirm his presence from 9:00 PM until well past midnight. However, his associates are known to be fiercely loyal, and would likely lie on his behalf if needed.
Further investigation reveals that two of his known enforcers were seen in the vicinity of the Con-
DETECTIVE NOTES
Alessandro’s outward calm and cooperative demeanour mask a dangerous intellect and deep connections to the criminal underworld.
While his alibi is superficially solid, his potential use of intermediaries makes his involvement difficult to rule out.
With clear motives, the means to execute the crime without direct involvement, and an established history of dealing decisively with liabilities, Alessandro remains a key suspect in Johnathan Constance’s death.
stance estate around the time of the murder.
While Alessandro insists he had no involvement, the timing of his enforcers’ presence raises questions about whether he orchestrated the act remotely, relying on his network to do the dirty work.

HELA LIGHTBRINGER
PHOTOGRAPHER MANAGER
Hela Lightbringer is a talented FFXIV photographer known for her creative portraits and custom shaders.
With nearly three years of experience, a love for Kinder Bueno, and a knack for humor, Hela turns moments into unforgettable memories.
Q: Introduce yourself to us. Where does the name “Hela Lightbringer” come from?
Hela comes from the Norse Mythology: the Goddess of Death, Sister of Loki and Thor. Lightbringer is a mix of two aspects. The first one lays in the fact that I have always been someone who tries to turn the negative into something positive: when someone is in an iffy mood, I try to lighten it and bring good vibes.
As for the second aspect, I started FFXIV as a paladin, which happened to be the title that my paladin had back in World of Warcraft, and since I always pictured paladins wielding holy and divine powers, everything all just randomly molded together.
Q: What inspired you to pursue photography in FF venues, and how did you start?
I’ve always been someone very creative. Amateur photography and art studies have been a part of my life that I neglected in favour of other things.
As hyperfocus and ADHD make it hard at times to stay focused on one task, it was rather randomly that I rolled into gposing - tinkering around with lighting, shaders, and poses just kept my creative mind busy whilst rekindling my long lost passion.
Here I am now, roughly 2.5 to 3 years later, still posing and continuing to further hone my craft such as my
shaders, which are all custom ones that I made myself.
Q: Do you have a favourite type of event or scene to photograph, and why?
I do prefer taking photographs closer to portraits, which are vertical close-ups. Apart from that, it all really depends on my mood, creativity, and inspiration - Whatever tickles my fancy in the moment!
Q: Can you share any funny or unexpected stories from your time as a club photographer? Hmmm, this is a bit tricky... Usually once I start posing, I get lost in the zone and lose complete sense of time and space only to start cooking some art.
However, the most random story would be a time during which a couple asked for a Softer-NSFW picture of them.
They had added me in the party, and while I was posing, my chat notification kept going wild. It turned out that they were having a full blown ERP session whilst I was in their party making a picture of them... I did not expect that at all, and it felt kind of awkward. I was happy to be done with the picture and get the hell out of there!
Q: Can you share any funny or unexpected stories from your time as a club photographer? Good question! Honestly, if you asked my friends, they would probably be able to give you a whole list of things. But, thinking about this myself is quite difficult.
Perhaps a fun fact would be that you could theoretically bribe me with a Kinder Bueno because I love them! Like... A LOT!!! Apart from that, I make bad puns all the time but you’ll get Hela used to those .
