Design Sketch

The team generated a series of concepts based on the three needs. We visualize the concepts out and talk with the client.

Design Concepts

We reorganized the picked ideas and reworked out 2 concepts of the product. Below are design concepts and some detail functions.

AVENT - X

an 'X' hollowed-out breathable design, which combines strength and breathability.

based on origami-style, which allows for internal structural adjustments while maintaining an elegant exterior.

BOrigami Grace

VENT- X /design concept

The central idea of this design is the unique 'X' hollowed-out structure, which serves a dual purpose of providing robust support to the neck while ensuring excellent breathability to the wearer.

VENT- X /design concept

The 'X' in Vent-X symbolizes the cross-ventilation feature, a design innovation that maximizes airflow, reduces moisture, and prevents the buildup of heat.

VENT- X /design concept

Despite the hollowed-out design, the strategic positioning and design of the 'X' structures maintain the integrity and durability of the brace.

VENT- X /design concept

The Vent-X Strength Brace design concept is an embodiment of resilience and breathability. It is our answer to the call for a neck brace that does not just serve a medical purpose, but also respects the wearer's need for comfort and ease during recovery.

Origami Grace /design concept

The Origami Grace Brace is an innovative design concept that elegantly intertwines aesthetics with functionality. It draws inspiration from the timeless art of origami, embodying the transformative and flexible nature of paper folding to create a neck brace that is as stylish as it is supportive.

This design allows for adaptability and customization while maintaining a sleek and minimalist exterior.

Origami Grace /design concept

The internal structure can be adjusted to fit various neck sizes and shapes, ensuring a personalized fit for every wearer.

Despite its complex internal structure, the external surface of the brace presents a seamless, uniform design. This clean and symmetrical aesthetic makes the brace appear less like a medical apparatus and more like a fashionable accessory.

Selected Concept

Phanta Eyes features flexible design and immersive experience. In the meantime, due to its small volume and sleek shape, users can take it anywhere just like sunglasses or earphones.

Flexible Design /AR theater mode

Users can enjoy 4k 3D media thanks to front chassis's GPU and screen. User interface is based on eye-tracking module and touch pad. The front modual is connected through pins and magnics to the headphone part.

Current AR Product Painpoints

Low Immersive Level

Current AR optical solutions can only offer 30-40 degrees field of vision. With this constraint, users can only see part of the hologram, this strongly effects user experience of AR.

Ergonomic & Comfort

Current ergonomic solutions put too much weight on the front face area (nose and cheek), this will lead to discomfort when long-time using.

Field of view: 40°

Ideal field of view: 100°

Dreamglass Air Design Goal

We are going to design an augumented reality glass for consumer market, based on its special optical design.

Dreamglass V1 : With its 6 DOF tracking system, it is aimed for professional market

Dreamglass V1 painpoint: Ring structure is not user-friendly when people lie on sofa

Dreamglass V1 painpoints: Heavy weight; No visual attraction to 2C customer

Competitor's optical design vs Dreamglass

Sketches & Design Concepts

Wayne and I sketched a series of ideas, and we picked two ot them to build 3D models.

Selected Concept

The selected design can offer users great wearing experience, without any comprise of FOV. The chassis is divived with white and cyan. This color combo cuts the volume visually, making the glasses look lighter.

Immersive Experience /larger FOV

Compared with other competitors, this glass can offer 90 degree of FOV rather than 45 degrees. As for users, it's like looking at a 100' of screen from 1.5 meters away.

Balancing Ergonomic System /better pressure distribution

We designed the 3 point support system to offer more balance and comfort for users. compared with competitors, our glasses achieves more comfort.

Balancing ergonomic system /suit different using senarios

Compared with other AR glasses, dreamglass air can fit into different positions of users.

Lean backward

The back head strip can keep fastened even when your head lying on the chair, due to its special designed angle.

Lie on bed

The back head strip is still helpful when users lie down. As for other products in the market, all of them will fall on users' face when lying down.

Balancing ergonomic system /lighter shell

Refer to the soundbox design, we use fabric to cover the plastic top shell.

Comparing with traditional plastic shassis, this will help to cut the weight and radiate better.

Compact design /foldable

The glasses cuts 70% of volume when folded up, which allows users take the glass wherever they want.
