Swinburne Design Factory project with Alfred Hospital Designer and reseacher (Aug 2015 - Nov 2015) in a team of 5, using design thinking as the main method to come across wicked problems. The processes include: secondary research, interviews, prototyping, focus groups and final systhesis and implement. Working closely with the healthcare professionals, we finally made out the designframework and found out the touchpoint to prevent patient falls. Think Power Product Design Agency, Beijing, China Industrial Design Intern (Feb 2015 - June 2015) In charge of product design, including research, sketching, CAD modeling and final render. Work with senior designer and engineers, good at design sketching and rendering. Freelancer

Beijing Institute of Tech, School of Computer Science User Interface Intern (July 2013 - July 2014) Play the role of interface and interaction designer, sketching the basic user experience and information architecture. Our process

Background Patient falls are a common problem in hospitals globally. Falls can have serious physical, psychological and economic consequences for both patients and healthcare professionals. This issue has been recognised for many years and many strategies have been used to address it. However, fall rates remain high.

Values: increase comfort, reduces risk of patient falls. -provide space for patient families -can be easliy stored when not in use

Values: increase sense of control, reduce risk of falling -use light on the floor to indicate a clear pathway between the patient’s bed pathway

Values: reduce risk of patient falls -located in bathroom -eliminate wet slippery suifaces in the bathroom

Values: increase sense of control, provide a sense of connectedness and a more control over the patient hospital experience -allow patients to use the digital interface to control elements of their room -mainly temperature, lighting and sound

Values: Increase patient’s sense of control over their hospital experience, reduces hospital-like reminders. -provide secure place for patients’ belongings -provide space to put up familiar photos

Values: increase sense of control -connect in-hospital patients with a range of external food providers

Values: Increase patient’s sense of control over their hospital experience -allow patients to change the color of the light that reflects their individual taste

Values: increase staff efficiency, create a more pleasant work environment for staff and reduce the hospital-like reminders for the patient -the airbnb like hospital room system -provice an interface to connect patients with accommodation outside of the hospital

5/Patient headboard

Values: Increase patient’s sense of control over their hospital experience -a customizable space where patients can store personal belongings and control units within easy reach.

Focus group

Design framework Social and emotional comfort is our major goal. Rather than procedure, physical tools and space, we are ultimately aiming to change the social and emotional experience of a hospital room, to reduce patient falls. Our design is for a utopian future, 25 year later from now.
