Distribution of the Rec Guide in early December offers the perfect opportunity for us to say HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you. The winter months can be a time for reflection and renewal. A time to honor natures rhythms and to slow down and rest more with less daylight hours to be busy.
I hope you will look to us to fill some of your daylight hours with interesting, educational and community building programs, classes, events and trips! The guide is 44 pages of offerings for all ages and abilities.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS
CLASSES & EVENTS: You must contact us at least 3 days prior to the start date in order to transfer or receive a refund. Requests made less than 3 days prior will be honored for medical issues with a doctor's note if requested within 10 days of the program starting. If we cancel, you will be issued a full refund.
CAMPS: The $50 Deposit will not be refunded. Refund of remaining fees paid will only be given with 3 working days prior to the start date. Requests for refunds less than 3 working days prior to the start date will only be offered for medical issues with a doctor's note if requested within 10 days of the start of the program. In this fun cooking class and luncheon, we will explore healthier options to familiar recipes. Join Chef’s Jessica and Sandy for a fun filled learning experience cooking foods with a healthy twist!
In this hands-on 4 class series, we will discuss healthier alternatives for certain ingredients, laugh a little and finish each session enjoying the food we prepared. Each student will leave with printed recipe cards, some new ideas for quick and easy meals and a full belly!
This class will focus on exercises that are inspired by yoga, pilates, and ballet. Attendees are encouraged to modify the stretches as needed for their comfort. All exercises will take place on the floor but students will not be getting up and down. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga or exercise mat.

Learn multiple sketching and drawing techniques to build and strengthen this fundamental art skill. This class covers the study of line, shape, and three dimensional form while learning how to see and measure the relationship of objects and translate this onto paper. The session continues with the study of value - analyzing light and shadow, applying form/cast shadow edges, and light and dark patterns to still life drawings using graphite and charcoal pencils. However old we may be, we are all engaged in the project of self-making, figuring out who and why we are, and revealing that self to others. Writing can be a powerful tool in that process. This class will be rooted in memoir writing but will also explore how writing poetry and fiction can give voice to aspects of ourselves we’ve neglected or ignored. This class will focus on moving slowly and mindfully, gently awakening and energizing the body, without ever leaving the comfort of the floor and provided props. You will be guided through a sequence of laying-down, breath-led movements based on the principles of Yoga Therapy and various somatic practices. Learn how to slow down to regulate the nervous system, foster resilience, decrease stress, improve sleep, and increase immune function and overall well-being. WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP SERIES

Learn the relaxing and magical world of watercolor in this weekly Watercolor Series. Each class day focuses on a different watercolor technique through demonstration and practice, followed by creating a final painting for the day using the technique learned. Each class builds on techniques. Attendees also learn about materials, color theory, and light/shadow. Sign up for one or both sessions! Techniques are repeated, but projects are different, so people can continue learning and practicing with new project content. No experience necessary. Beginners are welcome! Instructor will bring supplies to the first class. Students signing up for the subsequent session will only pay $14 supply fee. Please call the office for the reduced supply fee. No class 4/16.

QUARRY PARK ADVENTURE EXCURSION
Napa Park and Ride to Rocklin / Ages: 12 - 15 year old's
Join us on our Teen Excursion to Quarry Park Adventure in Rocklin. We will be leaving at 9:15 am from the Napa Park and Ride off of Trancas and returning by 4:30 pm. Registration fee includes transportation to and from Rocklin, 3 Hour activity pass to do zip lining, rock climbing, aerial challenge course, and more! Snacks and drinks will be provided on the bus. Packed lunch and water bottle is required.
COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM
Do you have a 13 - 15-year-old that needs something fun to do part time over the summer? Have them apply to be a CIT for Camp Y-Ville summer camp! In this program they will learn leadership, professionalism, and other skills needed to one day work a summer recreation job for the Town of Yountville. They will be able to pick their own schedules, go on pool days, and field trips throughout the summer. Fee is not required until applicant is accepted into the program.

Are you nervous about your teen getting behind the wheel? WE encourage you to attend our Start Smart Teen Driving Education Class with your teen to help both of you better understand safety on the road. Start Smart is a free class offered statewide to current and prospective teenage drivers and their parents or guardians. This class discusses important issues such as: tips on how to avoid crashes, safe driving habits, dynamics of a crash, consequences of a poor choice behind the wheel, testimonies of people tragically impacted, parental roles and responsibilities, and legal and civil liabilities. You and your teen will be more aware, more educated, and better prepared. A Parent/Guardian must attend with their child.

Turtle Air Plant Terrarium inspired by the book Mossy by Jan Brett
Join us for a reading of the heartwarming tale Mossy by Jan Brett. Following the reading, your little one will create their very own turtle-shaped air plant terrarium inspired by the story of Mossy. You will be amazed as a few simple clay shapes transform into a cute little turtle. Your child will then decorate the turtle with gemstone chips, dried flowers, and an air plant. (Please be prepared to have an adult help younger attendees)
The workshop includes a reading of Mossy by Jan Brett; step-by-step guidance on creating a sculpted clay turtle, clay for sculpting the turtle; additional clay for sculpting mushrooms, bugs, and other small elements; real gemstone chips of rainbow fluorite and aventurine to add decoration; dried flowers to add decoration; a living air plant; a container for transporting your turtle home; and a care guide tag for the air plant.

Led by nationally certified bicycle safety instructors, Family Biking Workshops provide kids (ages 5-12) and their parents/grandparents the skills and confidence necessary to ride safely around town and with traffic. We cover proper helmet fit and bicycle maintenance checks, lead on-bike skill-building activities that incorporate traffic law education, and wrap things up with a group ride on local streets to practice our skills.
Registration is required, space is limited. All kids MUST bring their own bicycle and helmet. Parents or guardians must be present; they may watch or participate. Those riding with the group MUST also bring their own bicycle and helmet. Seniors with or without children or grandchildren present can also participate.

On display will be Paul McCartney Photographs from 1963 - 64: Eyes of the Storm Featuring more than 250 personal photographs by Paul, along with video clips and archival materials, this exhibition offers a behind the scenes look at the meteoric rise of the world’s most celebrated band. The images capture the period from December 1963 through February 1964. Attendees are encourage to visit this exhibit as well as all of the others during your self guided visit to the museum. Enjoy lunch on your own at the de Young Cafe’ and stop by the museum store before we leave for home!

Join us for a trip to Filoli Historic House and Gardens in Woodside. During our April trip virtually EVERYTHING will be in bloom. We will explore the gardens in their full glory with camelias, magnolias, daffodils, trees, wildflowers, irises, wisteria, peonies, roses and more all in bloom! The 654 acre estate sits along the slope of California’s coastal range and was originally built in 1917. Today, Filoli is open to the public as a non-profit and site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Tour the grounds as well as the 54,000 square foot Georgian revival-style mansion at your own pace during your self guided tour. Don’t forget to lunch at the Quail Cafe and pick up a gift at the Clock Tower Shop.
Join Marianne Lyon and Geoffrey Leigh as they guide poets and writers into a new Genre called Prosetry. Avril Angevine is an arts lecturer with a particular interest in modern, contemporary, and California art. She speaks on many subjects at various locations in the Bay Area, including the OLLI programs at Cal State East Bay, Dominican College, San Francisco State, and the Fromm Institute. Avril has a BA in English and an MA in Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley and taught English and Humanities at local colleges. She is also a museum guide at SFMOMA, the Oakland Museum, and the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.
