CLERESTORY ROOF
VEGETATIONS
Trees used as a way to moderate the effects of penetrating winter winds and also capture the cooling brought by summer breezes.
Evergreen trees are proposed to put at the north, east and south sides. In winter, winter winds can be prevented, in summer, it can provide shade from summer rays. Deciduous trees blossom in spring and shed leaves during autumn, placing them at the west side so it can provide shade for summer and allow sunlight to go into the house in winter.

Awning windows are added due to the roof structure, they are facing north. This allows more sunlight going into the house during day time, especially the southern part of the house which is originally restricted to receive sunlight. Besides, ventilation is allowed. The window with a motorised blind that allow glare and solar heat to control manually. With the use of motor then it can be adjusted easily as the clients are elderly and it is hard for them to climb up to adjust the blind.
CLIENT INTERESTS The Patels always babysit their fourteen grandchildren and this will be the main active house activity. Besides, they appreciate the concept of an energy efficient building and would like to apply this on their house. Regarding this, they share a wish of zoning the house off when their grandchildren is not around so as to save energy and eventually lower their energy bills. Moving to a new outer suburb, the neighbourhood will be comparatively more quiet. It will be a pleasant living environment for the Patels. As an elderly, maintaining general well-being is essential, their health can easily get affected by the climate. Regarding this, a very efficient heating and cooling is required in order to maintain general well-being from not getting sick.
As the main users of the house are not just Mr. Patel and Mrs. Patel but also the fourteen grandchildren, the activity of children is far more The structure is working together diverse and active when compares with elderly. Thus, more open space with climbing plants on top, this is in outdoor is needed to allow different activities.
