Editor's note

Hello my SAFE readers

Over the month, I came to a realization of something that I believe is powerful. We need to stop looking for handouts or special treatment, especially from family. When you know God has given you a talent, you running a business, do not expect much from family because you will focus on being mad and not push your hustle. I always say God gave you or showed you your purpose so some people will not understand, especially the ones that you call family, they will not see your destiny as God did not show them what He showed you.

In other words, learn to carry your own goals and push your dreams, God will provide the people that will assist you and you will not need to convince them of what you are doing. They will understand and run with the vision.

Vaccines rollout has been offered from age 30years. Personally, I am afraid of injections so I am still preparing myself mentally and physically. As a way of improving the magazine and giving you more quality news and food to the spirit man, they will be a lot of good changes in the months to come. Keep your eyes pilled to the coming issues. This month we have the LAST SUPPER as a new column for our readers.

Until next month, love you lots but God love you more

EXCUSES

Everybody in life has or had a lot of things that they wanted to achieve the year before, this year, and the year to come. It's how God made us, we thrive and envy to be better and do better things. In our walk to being better, we encounter so many obstacles. One of those is so small yet so powerful; as it can change the trajectory of our journey. This small yet powerful obstacle can make or break you. It can cause delays in people both commencing and reaching their set goals. If there is anything that comes easy and naturally to the mind is an excuse. You don’t have to think hard to come up with a reason not to do something that is beneficial to you. When the year started, we had so many goals to attend to and to better our lives. I believe some people even committed these goals or plans to God to bless them. Now that the year is edging

The devil is very smart. When you want to do something that is good for you, he will not sit back and let you work in peace. He will start with excuses. If he

closer to an end, have you achieved the goals you set yourself when the year began?

fails then he will come up with a distraction. Let’s say you want to start exercising for better health. Whether you plan to wake up to exercise at home or go to the gym? When it’s time to wake up, the excuses would

I define excuses as avoiding your responsibility to do something that is beneficial to you. Mostly, avoiding actions or activities that otherwise

be I am tired, will come to your head, even if you slept early. The excuse of not feeling well comes up even when you went to bed perfectly fine. Learn to make hard decisions and stop procrastination.

maybe beneficial to you is not intentional. However, it is because of our battle against the spiritual that we are tempted to avoid them. The devil can see that there is growth in what you want to embark on. Therefore, he will try by all means possible to distract you from taking those first few steps on the path to success. I always say that when you are about to do something and you come up with a million excuses, just know that it’s something good. That which you want to do is good because it’s been challenged by the spiritual spirit which is against anything good that we do. Push hard and do that particular thing! Fight those excuses and do that is giving you so many excuses. Most of the time those excuses make sense.

Youthful4God | Issue 20 | Pg 5

What the Bible says about excuses or procrastination: Ecclesiastes 11:4 “He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap”. What you need to do is stop watching the wind and join in the wind of exercising or filling your purpose or start that business. If you start and stop making excuses that you think make sense you will reap. James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

Ondev Apps

This is a wake-up call to all of us. There are so many things that we are not doing and we are sinning without being aware of that. If we do not do that which we know is good, we are sinning.

Proverbs 12:24 “The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor”. We all want to be something out of the world. At work, we want to be bosses but we do not know that it comes with hard work. We are more interested in the money. I am struggling with procrastination, especially when it involves speaking to people. I am a shy person, so I find it hard to start conversations with people. When I have a project that needs other people’s input, I take days to ask for assistance from people because I would be building the courage to approach those people. I believe God will help me to deal with this issue. Proverbs 10:4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor but the hand of the diligent makes rich. Some of us are poor because we are good at talking and not using our hands to try to get out of poverty. When you have slack hands, it simply means that you have relaxed hands are you are in no rush in the world to get a better life. This scripture goes hand in hand with Proverbs14:23 which states that “In all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty”. You need to labor with your hands in order to make profit rather than being idle. Excuses and procrastination will only bring about poverty.

Living a Life of Discipline Discipline is an act of applying strict measures or penalties to a person who has done something wrong in order to instill in that

person a sense of responsibility, maturity, good manners, values and morals, etc. Mostly this action is done by parents or elders on the young ones as a way of modeling them to grow up into responsible adults. In the olden days, elderly people were responsible for calling young people to order when they were found to be misbehaving or being disrespectful.

BY K.M NTEBANG

We should remain grateful if we still have it in us to sit someone down and reprimand them for their wrongdoing. Most importantly, we should be grateful if as parents we are able to see wrongs being done by our children (both at home and in the society at large) and we are still able to discipline them. This shows the

love we have for them. However, as of late, one has to wonder if at all the parents are doing enough to show the youth and children This was in line with a proverb that says, “it the correct way of life or if they have left the takes a village to raise a child”. However, this has responsibility of guiding and raising a gradually changed over the years as respectful and responsible nation to peer modernization took over our traditional culture pressure and technological influences such as and way of living. It seems this was not just our social media to do the work. traditional way of life but a strong teaching from the bible as well. Hebrews 12:5-9 (NKJV), states thus, “and you

As a child of God, ask yourself what your role has been in the way the young generation is

have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to

reacting to issues that in the past would have been easily addressed or handled. The way young people interact with their peers and society in general leaves a lot to be desired. As a parent, when you look at the environment in your home, is it conducive to raise children, because good manners and morals must come from home before they are found in the streets. As children can you confidently say that you have been given enough guidance to

you as to sons: ‘my son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the Lord loves, He chastens, and scourges every son who He receives.’ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.” This scripture teaches us that discipline is done with good intentions and with lots of love for it is when you love a person dearly that you will not be able to bear seeing them go astray. We further learn that discipline is not only for young children but for everybody. We should be

present yourself as a responsible young person? In Deuteronomy 5:16 (NKJV), the word of God says, “honor your father and mother as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you”.

grateful if in this day and age there is that one person who is able to sit you down and show you where you have gone wrong and how you can improve your way of life. Youthful4God | Issue 20 | Pg 7

Living a disciplined life will be easy if we could all learn and understand this scripture because, in essence, every grown-up is our parent, similarly, every child’s wellbeing is the responsibility of elders in the society, therefore the respect given to both young and elderly will build a strong and well-cultured nation. This is emphasized by Ephesians 6:1-5, especially verse 4 where it says, “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in training and admonition of the Lord”. It is our responsibility as children of God to guard ourselves and live a disciplined and exemplary life which will be reflective of our upbringing and the teachings we learn from the word of God, such that, we will be the light to those who are still in the dark. Seeing our light shining brighter will draw them to us and encourage them to practice leaving a life worthy of praise.

Youthful4God | Issue 20| Pg 8

The word discipline does not look like a tasteful word, but it is the mystery behind distinctions in life. No one can be enthroned in any field without proving self-discipline as a virtue in his or her life. There are behavioral patterns we must subscribe to if we want to go far and higher in life because an undisciplined person is heading towards a crash. When it comes to enthronement you must work it out yourself just as we are all working out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).

Ecclesiastes 10:5-8, 15-16 says, There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from the ruler: Folly is set in great dignity and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth. He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him. Verse 15 and 16 says, The labor of the foolish wearieth every one of them because he knoweth not how to go to the city. Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!

HOW TO ENGAGE IN SELF-DISCIPLINE FOR ENTHRONEMENT-PART 1 By Harry Tawiah Ussher There are several covenants listed in the above scriptures but the one that stands out is the covenant of self-discipline. Verse 16 says something very important. That is eating anyhow without control and living a loose life. In other words, not having the discipline to eat when it is necessary and living a carefree life can deny you of your throne. In verse 7 it says servants are upon horses whereas those fit for the throne are walking because of a covenant of self-discipline has been broken. How would you feel when your father’s will gives all his estate to a faithful servant and leaves you with nothing? Because you were not disciplined enough to trust you with his inheritance.

Proverbs 31: 3- 4 says, Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink. This scripture is self-explanatory as it cautions both young men and women to refrain from anything that which causes them to give thy strength away. Which I believe is sex, as it destroys princes and princesses. Verse 4 says alcoholic wines and strong drinks are not good for those destined for the throne because it will prevent them from focusing and deny them of their glorious future. In the society we live in almost every young person drinks, engages in illicit sex (sex God hasn’t approved of), secretly smokes and expects to go higher in life. Understand that certain bad lifestyle are for those who are going nowhere. However, those going somewhere subscribe to a disciplined lifestyle. The generations of today are highly undisciplined this is why you must choose to be disciplined.

Youthful4God | Issue 20 | Pg 10

It takes discipline to pay your tithe when after paying your tithe there will be nothing left in your hands. It takes discipline to fast when there is a lot of food in your house. It takes discipline to say because I am not married I will not fornicate but wait for the right time and person after I have married. The honour that comes from marriages of those who decided not to have sex before cannot be compared to those who had sex. It takes discipline to remain faithful to your spouse no matter the pressure. It takes discipline to wake up early in the morning to pray. It takes discipline to sit and read when the exams are approaching. It takes discipline to read the Bible. It takes discipline to live according to your means. It takes discipline to be contented with what you have. It takes discipline to focus on your education rather than choosing to have a boyfriend or a girlfriend which is a great distraction to where you are going. I want to say this without any apology that, if you are under the care of your parents, guardian or the government and you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend you are a fool. What do you need a boyfriend or girlfriend for at your age?

It is interesting that only a small percentage of young Christians are discipline compare to those who are indisciplined and wayward, but the same is believing God for great things. No Sir, No Ma, it doesn’t work like that. No indisciplined person will go far in life. If you look at people who have made it and affected the world positively they are all very hard-working and diligent. Been hard-working and diligent comes as a result of being a disciplined person. The word “discipline” appears sixty times throughout the books of the Bible. This shows how important discipline is to God. Let’s run through a few scriptures on discipline. 1 Corinthians 9:27 says that, But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. Hebrews 9: 11. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward, it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Job 36:10, He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

START INCORPORATING MOBILITY TRAINING IN YOUR FITNESS PROGRAM

As we get older, basic movement can become labored, be it picking an object from the floor or just sitting down. This is a sign that our mobility has been compromised. This is where mobility training comes in. Mobility training is one of the most ignored aspects of fitness training. A common assumption is that if we exercise or work out regularly, we will automatically be able

Mobility training builds strength and coordination throughout the range of motion of the muscles around a specific joint, or multiple joints. If a certain part of your body has less mobility, you may find yourself overcompensating when using other muscles i.e secondary muscles and joints which may lead to injuries. For example, a lot of athletes get

to move better. However, this is not necessarily hamstring injuries because of the shortened always the case. A more deliberate effort must quadriceps muscle. be made to increase mobility. Mobility refers to our ability to move freely and easily without stress on the body. Good mobility means that your range of movement is smooth and pain-free. Mobility training incorporates exercises that will increase your range of motion and your stabilization, or control of the muscles that surround each joint. Mobility incorporates flexibility and strength, and it is crucial to help you squat deeper, push harder and jump higher. Essentially, someone with solid mobility can better perform the most exercises with the correct form. Rendering is an important area of fitness to focus on. Mobility training helps prevent muscle stiffness

There are many benefits of mobility training which include among others; 1. Increased range of movement (you can stay active and healthy longer in life) 2. Helps prevent knots and injuries. 3. Helps build stronger, more adaptive muscles and joints. 4. Improves all-around functional fitness performance. 5. Helps improve circulation.

and an all-round lack of movement (hyporeflexia) which may lead to injuries. Incorporating mobility training is vital if your intention is to gain peak fitness and functionality. If your mobility is limited, you will not be able to employ proper form to execute a movement and ultimately, you will not engage the targeted muscle group. Mobility training will ensure that you are performing at your optimum whereas with limited mobility movements, performance is bound to suffer.

TYPES OF MUSIC ENSEMBLES There are different types of music ensembles. An ensemble is when two or more people perform together with a certain music composition or a group of musicians that play together on different occasions. Ensembles are differentiated by the type of instruments played, the type of music played, and the number of musicians in the ensemble. There are small ensembles and big ensembles. In this edition, I am going to discuss the small ensembles. These are musicians numbering from two to eight.

2. TRIO 1. DUET This is where two musicians perform together either on the same instruments or on different instruments or it could be an instrument and voice.

3. QUARTET This is where four musicians perform together. An example could be a string quartet made up of a violin, viola, cello and double bass or a vocal quarter made up of a soprano, alto, tenor and a baritone.

This is when three musicians perform together for music written for three instruments. They can be from the same group of instruments or different groups. An example will be a string trio made of violin, viola and a cello.

4. QUINTET This is where five musicians perform together a piece of music written for 5 instruments. An example is a brass band of five brass instruments.

Youthful4God | Issue 20 | Pg 17

5. SEXTET This is when six musicians perform together music written for six instrumentalists or vocalists. This can also mean a composition written for six instruments. An example is a wood wind group of six players.

What you eat= your baby’s future

Prenatal nutrition-good or bad-may affect your baby well into adulthood You are what you eat. That’s old news. So is the fact that your diet during pregnancy affects your newborn’s health. But the new news is that what you eat during those nine months can impact on your baby’s health for decades to come: your own diet during pregnancy might define your baby’s predisposition to diabetes, obesity and heart disease later in life. Here are easy nutrition tips that will help you both -now and into the future.

1.Get enough folic acid Ideally, you need 400 micrograms of this B vitamin daily before conceiving. Because sufficient intake in the first trimester reduces neutral-tube defects such as spina bifida by 50 to 70 percent, you should increase the dose to 600 micrograms when pregnancy is confirmed. New research suggests that supplementing with folic acid for a year before pregnancy and in the second trimester can also dramatically reduce the risk of preterm delivery.

2. Ban Bacteria To protect your baby from harmful bacteria such as listeria, salmonella and E. coli, any of which can, in severe cases, cause miscarriage or miscarriage or premature delivery, steer clear of soft cheese made with unpasteurised milk, as well raw or undercooked meat, poultry, seafood or eggs. Keep your fridges below 4degree c and dump leftover food that’s been sitting out for more than two hours.

3. Focus on Fibre A diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains helps prevent constipation and haemorrhoids and keeps you feeling full so you are less likely to overeat. High fibre foods are also packed with vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals essential to your baby’s development. Aim to get atleast25 to 35 milligrams of fibre a day

4. Don't eat for two Some 46 per cent of woman gain to much weight during pregnancy. The upshot is an increased risk of pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes and the delivery of either a preterm or a too-large baby. In the second and third trimesters, add no more than 1250 kilojoules t your diet

5. Eat your fish

Getting enough DHA (found in abundance in seafood and flaxseeds) is one of the most important things you can do for your health and your developing baby’s health, nutritionists say. DHA is the omega 3 fatty acid that can boost your baby’s brain development before birth, leading to better vision, motor skills and language comprehension in early childhood. Eat at least 300grams a week of low-mercury fish or take a DHA supplement (they’re safe)

6. Buy organic food where possible

7. Avoid Alcohol

Pesticide exposure has been linked to miscarriage, birth defects, premature birth, growth restriction and some childhood cancers and immune disorder. Eating organic food can result in low pesticide levels in adults and in children, whose immune system are not yet fully developed

Behavioural problems, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity and aggressive behaviour in children can result when mom drinks during pregnancy. No amount is safe

9. Limit caffeine

8. Get adequate iron During pregnancy, your iron need nearly double, to about 300miligrams per day, to support your 50 per cent increase in blood volume and to promote foetal iron storage. Iron transports oxygen and your baby benefits from a health supply. To boost absorption, combine iron-rich food with vitamin C, such as loading your chicken sandwich with tomato relish.

11. Bone up on calcium

Aim to get at least 1000miligrams a day; your baby needs it for tooth and bone development in the second trimester. Plus, if you don’t get enough calcium in your diet, the foetus will leach it from your bones, which may increase your osteoporosis risk later in life.

About 300miligrams of caffeine per day, the amount in about two cups of coffee, has long been considered acceptable during pregnancy. But a study recently found that consuming 200 mgms of caffeine a day increases the risk of miscarriage. There’s no magic cut-off point but the less the better, says the study’s lead author, perinatal epidemiologist Dr De-Kun Li.

10. Bin Junk food If you constantly indulging in chips and milkshakes, your child might clamour for these in the future, new research on animals suggests, “somehow, a salty, sugary, high-fat, low nutrient-dense diet seem to programme a baby’s taste preference, ‘says nutritionist Elizabeth Somer, author of Nutrition for a health pregnancy

A WAY TO TRANSFORMATION by Fortune Museke Jnr Let me take this time to greet you and welcome you to the church service, and a special thank you to everyone who is joining us for the first time. We also appreciate our online crew and we encourage you to like, comment, and share this broadcast on all your social media platforms. It’s a pleasure to be sharing this word with you today. Have you noticed that throughout the Bible, God is either inspiring or sponsoring

Imagine your life-changing for the better this way; -From a depressed person to someone full of

TRANSFORMATION? -When the earth was covered in the darkness He said let there be light! -He transformed slaves into worshipers -He transformed slaves into kings -He transformed cowards into warriors -He transformed water into wine -He transformed sinners into saints -He transforms murders into apostles

joy -From sickness to health -From financial struggle to prosperity -From struggling with sin and bad habits to living free! -From death to life! All these good things and many more are possible for you and it’s what God wants for you! Let’s take our reading from Roman 12:2 and see

God is all about transformation!

what the Bible say about TRANSFORMATION

I know transformation means a lot of things to a lot of people out there; -To a student, it means from bad grades to good grades -To a doctor, it means being able to cure someone -To a musician, it may mean releasing an album -To a lecture, it means seeing students graduate And before we get into details let’s check out what transformation is: TRANSFORMATION Definition Synonyms: “METARMORPHOSE” or “TRANSFIGURE” or “CONVERT” -To change to something different -A major change in form, nature or function -An abrupt or startling change induced by a deity or superpower -A change fitting something for a new or different purpose

Romans 12:2 - Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. There’s a big emphasis on transformation here! Here are three things we pick from this text: -The world wants us to conform to its pattern -Transformation is possible -We can please God through transformation All of us have several things that we desire to be changed or transformed in our lives. It may be in your business, finances, career, school, marriage and especially in your spiritual life! God has given us wisdom in His Word as to how we can experience this transformation in our lives. I’m going to take time and discuss a few things that will help us experience transformation. Here we go!

Youthful4God | Issue 20| Pg 23

My Objectives -You can experience transformation -You have a part to play in order to experience transformation I’m going to share with you 3 things that will help you experience transformation. 1. Avoid Conforming to the World’s Pattern Conform - to behave according to the usual standards of behavior that are expected by a group or society Or to fall into a mold. There’s a lot of pressure to conform in our society. God wants to transform us but it is not going to happen until we deliberately move away from the world’s system into God’s way of doing things. Disadvantages Of Conforming to the World System -It ruins your relationship with God -Hinders you from experiencing God’s best for you -It robs you of peace because you are under pressure to please everyone but you I’m challenging you to ask yourself 3 things today: -Which area in my life do I need to revisit today? -What does God’s Word say about it? -How am I going to go about changing it from today? When you honestly answer these three little questions and act on them, you would have started your journey of transformation. Which areas are you conforming? BUSINESS, SCHOOL, MARRIAGE, FRIENDSHIPS 2. Overcome the Strongholds in your mind STRONGHOLD is a military term referring to a place having strong defenses; a fortified place inaccessible to enemies. Surely the battle is fought predominantly between your ears…YOUR MIND! As a human being, you are made up of three parts; a.The spirit man – when you accept Jesus God you become a new creature! “He that is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with the Lord” b.The Soul – this is the part that controls your emotions, intellect and thoughts i.e. the MIND!! c.The Flesh – it’s the physical part that we all see and its desires Note that the spirit man desires what is godly and what God wants for you, but the flesh is the opposite and consisting of the evil nature that God’s word is against. Decisions are then made in the soulish realm which involves emotions. Do you see that both the spirit man and the flesh are fighting to control your mind which is in the soulish realm? Sadly most of us allow the flesh to dictate how we respond. These are the strongholds that you need to deal with. Whether or not you realize this, your thoughts which then become strongholds dictate the direction which your life takes! Here are a few tips on how to handle these strongholds; -Accept responsibility for your thoughts -Your mind, not just your behavior must change -Think through your problems, not just reacting to them -Disarm your thoughts through confession – declare God’s word -Focus your thoughts on the right things Youthful4God | Issue 20| Pg 24

3. Renew Your Mind “….be transformed by the renewing of your MIND” – Rom 12:2b Mind - the element or complex of elements in an individual that feels, perceives, thinks, wills, and especially reasons. This is the part that enables you to think, learn, memorize, remember etc. The mind is so powerful that what you conceive in it births your actions. RENEW - to make like new: restore to freshness, or perfect God’s Definition – To align your thinking to God’s Word How to Renew Your Mind -Let go of the past - you are a new being in Christ, start thinking & acting that way – Matthew 1 (Genealogy – the 4 women) -Dwell in God’s presence (Pray, Study the Word, Attend church regularly). Here is something to ponder on: Average church attendance of a believer is coming twice a month. The length of an average sermon is 30 minutes, 52 Sundays a year, 30-minute sermon twice a month i.e. 26 Sundays a year, which is 15.6 hours of teaching from God's Word in an entire year. Average TV time is 2 to 3 hours a day, so in one week u have watched as much TV content as the Word you would have received in a year. Do you think your mind will be renewed? Benefits of renewing your mind -Nothing else will mater to you except God’s truth (circumstances around you won’t bother you much) -You will experience peace in your relationships with people around you -When you renew your mind to God’s word you will experience a healthier and more joyful life -You will experience freedom because nobody will be forcing you into any mold CONCLUSION There’s a lot we can say about TRANSFORMATION but I hope that what I shared with you today will help you head in the right direction. As the Worship Team sings a song for us I want you to come before God’s throne and ask for grace. The Bible says if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask of the Lord who gives it bountifully. Ask Him to reveal to you areas you need to work on and pray for transformation!

Books Review

Too often, greed and materialism can choke out the true spirit of generosity found only in Christ. In this new, revised edition of The Blessed Life-featuring fresh stories, illustrations, and testimonials--Robert Morris, founding senior pastor of Gateway Church, examines the true meaning of the blessed life. The enemy wants to keep you from discovering God's principles governing financial stewardship, giving, and blessing. Why? Because once you do, it will change every area of your life from your marriage to your health and finances. It will also impact the kingdom of God. What if every needed church facility could be built? What if every missionary could be sent and abundantly supplied? What if the gospel could saturate every culture on the planet? When God changes your heart from selfishness to generosity, every part of your life journey is affected. With humor, passion, and clarity, Robert presents this truth on the pages of The Blessed Life.
