Editor's note

I keep thinking that I am going to run out of words every month. Hello, my SAFE readers, I believe you are keeping warm because the temperatures have dropped now and it’s very cold, especially in the mornings. Winter is one of those seasons that most people do not go to church and with the pandemic it is going to get worse. Brethren are just going to be at home and not make an effort to attend the physical church. Let’s make time to fellowship with other people and check how they are doing because the pandemic has increased mental health issues and it’s one area that we do not know how to address. We need to check on our friends or people that we know because a lot of people are dealing with depression. This depression is caused by the rate at which we are losing relatives and burying them quickly with fewer people. We do not have time to mourn our relatives. Some people are dealing with the fact that they transmitted the covid-19 to their family members and they lost them. They are feeling guilty that if it were not the transmission from them to their family members, their parents or loved ones would still be here alive and not buried in a rush. Most people are dealing with blame or regret. Let’s pray for one another and Never forget that I love you and God loves you more.

REAL TALK-LEGACY Motherhood is something that is amazing in my eyes. It is magical when you come to think that you are carrying a life inside of you. This is magic in the sense that, it alters your entire life. You spend sleepless nights and a change in your diet because you are carrying something precious in you. At the speed of lightning, then comes that little human being that you love so much and want the best for. This little human being takes over your life literally. Because we want the best for our children, we go all the way, when it comes to their happiness. But I wonder, what is that you want for your children. That which you think they will need forever as they grow up and grow old. What is that one thing that you want for your children? That which you want for them, when you are no longer on this earth, they can say my parents worked hard for this or be grateful that my parents gave me this or taught me this? What is that one thing? Is it excellent education, good manners, love, or freedom? I am asking this because most parents want a brighter future for their children based on work and money. They would get their children in the best school possible and some parents can

even go into debt so that their children can afford to attend the best school. If there is one phase or part of life that as parents that we do not take seriously is the spiritual part of our children. We do not bend backwards just to teach them the kingdom ways rather we leave it for the church to do when they are at church on Sundays only. At church, they only teach theory and practicals supposed to take place at home. We think if we named our children by names in the bible, we have done our part when it comes to the spiritual life of our children. most of the time we have no idea, or we even do not know where in the bible to find the life of the person we have named our children after. You only know the good part of that name, you have not read the bad also but you name your child on a small part of the life of that

Personally, I believe the spiritual part is the most neglected yet important part of life. Most of our depressions and suicides are because we did not build our children while they were young that there is a time for everything so when they experience an unpleasant time in their life journey, they think it is the end when its just a temporary setback and most of the time God is building them or correcting them. I do not see parents investing in the spiritual part of their children. Investing in books and time teaching them the biblical ways that are taking place in our world now. For most of the holidays,

Written by Yours Truly.

children do not know the biblical celebration behind them because they are coated with worldly standards like Easter and Christmas. Does this mean as parents we do not want our children to be mature spiritually than us? Or experience God at a younger age? We should teach our children to fast at a younger age and know why they going to church. Most children are going to church because they are forced by their parents, especially teenagers. Because it has not been a norm to put the church first at home, they attend church not in their own will or the go because parents are going. Unless you do not believe or know the goodness of God and you don’t know what benefit is there for your children but if you have seen the hand of God in your life, if God has taken you from the muddy clay, then you do not have any reason not to want your children to have that in their lives. For most of us, our parents did not take seriously our spiritual part, rather they would take us to the cattle post when the school closed. They believed in children helping and, they were not wrong. Please understand that there is nothing wrong with children helping. They should not forget their spiritual growth of praying in the morning, before eating and when they sleep just to mention a few while helping out. We know better now that I believe we can break the cycle now by making time with our children. I pray that someone can come up with authentic Christian camps during school holidays so that children can have a place to go when school closes that builds their spiritual life. Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 6

My daily prayer is that my children experience God at a younger age and I have a hand in this experience by teaching them the principles of the kingdom. I ask God in prayer that let me not be religious with them.

By K.M Nthebolang When teaching His disciples how to pray, our Lord Jesus Christ said in Matthews 6:12, “and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” He continues by explaining in verses 14-15, “for if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” This teaches us that forgiveness is an integral part of our everyday lives, it shows us that being hurt is something that can happen anytime and to anyone. The scripture encourages us to practice forgiving those who do us wrong and that when we forgive others, we will also be forgiven of our sins. In our everyday lives we come across tests and trials of different kinds, we cross paths with people who hurt us or who we end up hurting. There is no person who can say they have never hurt another person and there is no person who can claim that they have never been hurt.

Sometimes we get hurt by people who are very close to us, people we trust with our lives, those we never imagined would put us in such painful situations. Sometimes the pain is so unbearable that one may feel that they will not live to see another day or that they will not be able to be in the same room as the person. However, we are encouraged today to practice this beautiful trait of forgiveness. When we forgive those who have hurt us, not only do we free ourselves from the burden of carrying them around but we will also be surrendering them to the Lord and fulfill God’s word in Mathew 5:44-45 which says, “but I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven”. How easy is it to forgive those who do us wrong? I have heard several times people saying, it is easier to forgive a person that you do not know than the one you know because you may never meet the stranger again or you may meet them after a long time. But with the one that you stay with,

Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 9

work with, meet up very often, e.t.c, it can be very challenging to understand what drove them to behave the way they did. It can take a while for one to accept that indeed their best friend betrayed them or that their sibling stabbed them in the back or that a co-worker lied about them. But today the Bible is teaching us something very special, it does not differentiate or define who should be forgiven or who should not, it also doesn’t say which sin is forgivable and which one cannot be, all of them qualify. Some lessons can be drawn from the story of Joseph in Genesis 37, his own brothers threw him in a well and later sold him for a few coins of silver. Only love can drive such kind forgiveness, only when you know the importance of forgiveness can you take that bold step and forgive even the unforgivable sin because we know that the price paid for our sins is beyond measure, therefore who are we to hold onto other people’s sins? Jesus paid for all our sins by dying on the cross and even as He did this, He pleaded with His Father to forgive the ones

who was crucifying Him (Luke 23:34)? No matter how much we may feel hurt, let us remember that making peace with those who have hurt us and being true to it will help us reduce a

lot

of

negative

energy in our bodies and help us lead a healthy life. Unforgiveness can be very toxic for our bodies therefore, loving ourselves enough not to allow it to be part of us is important and should be the first step for us to take. Seeking forgiveness is just as important, especially when we are in the wrong, let us not allow pride to stand before us and our happiness. Sometimes we may need to apologize for the sake of peace, i.e. even when we are not wrong but the other person is not willing to come forward, let us learn to be the bigger person and seek forgiveness.

HAVE A TEACHABLE SPIRIT HAVE

A

TEACABLE

SPIRIT

BY HARRY

TAWIAH

USSHER

We live in a generation where most people will rather ignore teaching and training and try things on their own

True leaders are teachable. To be teachable means that you have the mindset of a long-time learner. There

and fall woefully and turn back to receive teaching and training from the same people and places they rejected and did not want anything to do with. I

is a saying that, “readers are leaders”. Anytime you learn something new it adds to the knowledge you have already acquired and there is no way

wonder if this is too much of civilization, pride, knowledge or foolishness. You can imagine the wasted years. Psalm 25:12 says "Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose. Proverbs 13:18 also says Poverty and disgrace come to him who ignores instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is honored. One of the reasons why God allowed

you cannot become better. Proverbs 9:9 says Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. If you want to grow, cultivate a teachable spirit. In other words, you must swallow your pride to ask people how to do things. Do not be all knowing meanwhile you know nothing. Asking someone how to do things in order to

certain people to go ahead of us to acquire certain knowledge and experience, is to teach those who will come after them. In life people will look up to you and you look up to others. But you can only do that when

become better, takes nothing out of you, but it takes a lot from you to be humiliated by doing things wrong because you refused or did not ask a simple question. We go to school to get knowledge on to ply our profession, but

you have submitted yourself into, immense teaching and training. In fact, you can only give what you have.

in life you will need someone to teach you how to do certain things no school will teach you.

Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 12

Therefore, you need to be humble enough to learn from others. We get to learn from older folks and sometimes you will have to learn from a younger person. When you are learning how to be humble, you must be willing to listen. Proud people do not listen. They assume they know everything because of the little exposure they have had. Only God is all-knowing. In 1 Peter 5:5-6 the Bible says Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, To avail yourself of teaching and asking experienced people means that you want to grow your capacity. Thus we can say: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Make growth your number priority. Look for every opportunity to learn so as to grow. Ask the right questions that will help you grow regardless of who. Do not forget what you have learned.

5.

Teach others what you have learned.

TRANSITIONING INTO WINTER WORKOUTS

Onneile Kealotswe Fitness Instructor (New Skills Academy) Strong Nation Instructor (formerly Strong by Zumba) Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 14

Brace yourself, winter is here! With winter comes different challenges, days are shorter and colder. If you are used to training outdoors after work (e,g 5 pm), now you have about half an hour before it gets completely dark. The same consideration applies to early morning. The sun begins to rise a little before 7 am leaving you with a small window before you have to get ready to beat the morning traffic to work. Unfortunately, a lot of people fall off and completely stop training during winter. However, the change in season should be a great opportunity to renew and revamp your workout routine. Here are some of the tips to push you through the winter season: a.Regroup and refocus: it is difficult to stay motivated in winter. However, you have to break the cycle and find something new to work towards. Preferably, a short-term goal that will last you the duration of the winter season. Look for an event in winter and train for it. This will help you stay focused on the training and before you know it, summer is back. b.Plan ahead: it is always best to prepare beforehand for a workout. Plan your week in advance in order to avoid procrastination. c.Change your program: starting something new can be exciting and can keep you motivated. Divide your training into a series of manageable phases (mesocycle). Reduce the intensity of the workout and engage in the maintenance program. This would also help in preventing injuries that may be caused by the rapid cold down of muscles during this season. d.Make sure you have the right attire for the cold weather: include a base layer, which includes undergarments, socks and the first layer of clothes (tops and bottoms) closest to the skin made of material that pulls moisture away from the skin (sweat management) and thermal workout clothes. e.Explore at-home options: there are several advantages to working out at home during this season. It saves you time and it allows you to manage your environment to suit your needs. f. Get a workout buddy or join a group: The best thing you can do to add a layer of support and accountability to your goals is to find someone or join a group with similar goals and link up with them to push you to exercise when you lose motivation. Remember ‘’ it is only cold if you are standing still’’ keep moving!! Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 15

5 SIMPLE RULES Your worry list is shorter than you think. Follow these five simple rules for a healthy pregnancy. Then relax….

You may think the healthy pregnancy to-do list is like a crisp craving: neverending. But it's not. Apart from eating well and exercising - two topics that are so important we've covered them elsewhere in this issue - there are only about five things you really need to do to increase your chance of having an enjoyable pregnancy and a healthy baby. 1. Say 'no' to toxins Because of their link to birth defects, miscarriage and other problems, you should avoid tobacco, alcohol, illicit drugs and even solvents such as paint thinners and some nail polishes and polish removers while pregnant. Smoking cigarettes, for example, decreases oxygen flow to your baby; it's linked to premature birth and other complications. "If you can't stop smoking, drinking or using drugs, let you doctor know," recommends obstetrician Dr Roger Harms. 2. Watch what you pop Check with your doctor or midwife before taking any overthe-counter medications, supplements or "natural" remedies. Even non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen should be avoided -studies suggest they increase the risk of miscarriage and damage to foetal blood vessels. Also, limit caffeine, which is difficult for a foetus to metabolise, to 200 milligrams, or about two cups of coffee, per day. 3. Pay attention to your feelings You've probably heard of post-natal depression, but you may not know that 10 to 20 percent of women experience symptoms of major depression during pregnancy. This could increase your risk of premature labour. If you're feeling unexplainable sad, angry or guilty, or if you lose interest in activities you usually enjoy or sleep too much, tell your doctor. Therapy, a support group, an anti-depressant medication or a combination of the three may help. Not all anti-depressants are safe for pregnant women, so be sure to work with a doctor who is familiar with pregnancyrelated mental-health issues. Heavenly Sound Kingdom Arts

By; Akhutleleng Mogami

THE BENEFITS OF BEING A PART OF A BAND Being a part of a band is very demanding and fun at the same time. It is demanding because one must consistently practice at home the music that has been allocated to the band and make it on time for the scheduled rehearsals knowing their parts. This though has a lot of benefits. 1.It sharpens one’s musical skills. Some people are born performers, however, even the most talented musician need to work on their performance abilities. Stage presence is developed over time through lots and lots of repetition. But getting on stage for the first time can be intimidating. Being on stage alone is more daunting than being on stage with a group of other musicians. Multiple musicians mean a fuller arrangement, with less pressure put upon any one musician. One also gets emotional support and comradery from the bandmates during a show. 2.Learn about other musical instruments. Being in a band exposes one to instruments that they might have never seen up close. If one has been curious about learning another instrument, the bandmates can give them pointers or recommendations – maybe even let them try out their instrument during practice. Understanding the basics of a variety of instruments is important to one’s overall musicianship, regardless of what one plays. Being in a band is a great way to begin learning those basics.

3.Teamwork and compromise Being in a band teaches one how to work with others, just like any group collaboration. One will learn how to compromise, respect, and constructively communicate with their bandmates. They will build unique bonding experiences during rehearsals and performances. They will work together towards common goals and develop good practice habits by following through with rehearsal commitments and practice routines. The way one plays a song changes when they start playing it with others vs by themselves. Playing in a band teaches one to complement their bandmates while creating musical moments that let other’s shine. 4. It is Fun. One gets to hang out with friends, play songs they love, write songs together and perform them Infront of an audience. One gets a moment to shine on stage with the support and connections of the bandmates. Being in a band creates friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

If you are looking for a band to join contact Kingdom Arts Academy on 74965900/ 3110651. They will direct you to a band.

2020 ROADMAP By Annonymous

January 2021 birthed hope in me as I was optimistic of the year 2021. It is patience, faith and hope that continue to lead me during challenges Covid-19 has brought to the industry and business arena but we now have no excuse but to leave with it and to continue creating relevant solutions to stay afloat in the business environment. It has been over a year with it now, though it seems to be stronger than the first wave. I plead with Batswana to continue taking care of themselves, adhering to the protocols. May all the family and friends who have lost members due to the epidemic be comforted.

scenario. But in part because they have not yet identified the animal that may have spread the virus to humans, the Wuhan lab theory has gained more credibility.

Becerra’s remarks, which were prerecorded, signaled that the Biden administration would continue to press the WHO to expand its investigation to determine the virus’s origins. As the coronavirus ravaged the United States and much of the world last year, an early theory was that it emerged from a market in Wuhan that sold meat from wild animals raised in captivity and then swiftly spread across the globe. Experts in viral genome evolution determined that it almost certainly was not engineered as a bioweapon because it has several naturally occurring features and is closely related to a 2014 coronavirus that came from a bat in a cave in China. But they also said they could not rule out that the virus may have escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a research lab that studies coronaviruses. While the lab leak theory was initially dismissed as unlikely, recent reports about the hospitalization of Wuhan lab researchers in November 2019 — weeks before the virus was identified in that city — have given it new traction. A joint team of scientists from China and elsewhere, which was convened by the WHO,

Youthful4God | Issue 16| Pg 24

At a White House briefing Tuesday, Anthony S. Fauci, the government’s leading infectious-disease expert, said he believes it’s most likely the virus originated from a “natural occurrence.” But he said a deeper probe is warranted. “Because we don’t know 100 percent what the origin is, it’s imperative that we look and we do an investigation,” Fauci said. At that same briefing, Andy Slavitt, the White House senior adviser on the coronavirus response, expressed frustration at barriers imposed on international scientists by the Chinese government. “It is our position that we need to get to the bottom of this, and we need a completely transparent process from China.

Covid news continues........ We need the WHO to assist in that matter. We don’t feel like we have that now,” Slavitt said. “That’s a critical priority for us.” The United Nations agency had released a joint report with Chinese scientists in March after a WHO-led mission spent four weeks in Wuhan. But the United States and other nations raised concerns about the limits placed on that mission and called on China to be more transparent. The United States and other nations voiced concern that “the international expert study on the source of the SARS-CoV-2 virus was significantly delayed and lacked access to complete, original data and samples.” The comments from Biden officials on Tuesday reiterate the administration’s stance, but it remains unclear whether or how they might exert pressure on China to be more transparent. The Biden administration has not retracted a statement by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, released during the Trump administration, that said the intelligence community “concurs with the wide scientific consensus that the covid-19 virus was not man-made or genetically modified.” The statement noted intelligence agencies would continue to try “to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals, or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan.” The Trump administration also sought answers on the virus’s origins, but some officials went further, suggesting China intentionally released or engineered the virus. Trump’s former trade adviser, Peter Navarro, for instance, accused China of engineering the virus as a bioweapon. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab became sick enough in November 2019 that they sought hospital care, renewing interest in the lab origin theory. The newspaper cited a U.S. intelligence report as the source and noted that one person said the information came from an “international partner,” who described it as potentially significant but needing further corroboration. That echoed an earlier report from the State Department, which in the final days of the Trump administration, said “the U.S. government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the [Wuhan Institute of Virology] became sick in autumn 2019.” The statement did not say precisely when the workers allegedly fell ill, or how many became sick, but noted that their symptoms emerged “before the first identified case of the outbreak” and were “consistent with both covid-19 and common seasonal illnesses.” A former U.S. official familiar with the intelligence, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to disclose the information, said the U.S. government was confident the workers became sick but couldn’t say they suffered from covid-19.

NATURE SPEAKS THE MAJESTY OF GOD AND TEACHES US OUR PLACE IN HIS WORSHIP I have always been drawn to the marvel of nature. The trees, animals, insects, and everything else around us including the non-living components. Earth, wind, fire, and water were for a long time considered the 4 core elements of the natural world until of course scientists conducted research to reveal more of the physical world than we ever knew. While science studies nature, it has come to my revelation that God expresses himself through nature in so many ways. If you read through all of Psalms 104, you will learn just how God moves and functions closely to how nature works. Nature is God’s metaphor. For instance, he shifts like the wind, he flows like water, he moves like a cloud and so many others that you can think of. Nature worships God in a profound way, it represents him in such an undeniable manner. There is a song by Hill Song worship called So Will I. The lyrics in this song are relevant to my message to you today. Remember that in as much as the stars, moon, and the seas for nature that you too are a part of the natural environment. More than that you exist at the highest level of authority in relation to all else that is around you. In the book of Genesis, it is made clear that the earth has been made that we should have land to grow plants and plains to graze animals for our consumption. It should be intriguing to you that when God created the universe he had you placed perfectly on earth and with the authority to rule.

The above paragraph is ambiguous but let’s pick a few lessons from it;

2. God has given you a place of authority after his creations. The authority that God gave you is an all-access card to what he has created in the environment around you. It is up to you to exercise this authority by speaking whatever you want into your life and acting in the same direction to acquire it. Everyone must be interested in harvesting from God’s eternal riches here on earth, so let us not be ashamed of exercising our authority to accumulate. After all 2 Peter 1:3 makes it clear. 3. You are a part of the nature God has created and just like all his creations you are meant to worship him. In all the galaxies’ majesty and the grandiose composition of the seas and their organisms, God Glorifies himself. Mountains worship him, rocks worship him not forgetting the sun, moon, and the stars. If you are wondering what your worship is to God, it has to do with your purpose. Every little thing you do should glorify and be a form of worship unto God and your purpose will be unfolded unto you. Romans 12:1

1. God’s majesty is intricately woven in the natural environment. Nature exemplifies a part of God’s being as well as his ability as the creator of all things. So if you ever find it hard to believe, remind yourself of the order that exists in nature; the ecosystems, climates, seasons and many other examples he has left for you to see, Job 12:7-10.
