McCallum Theatre is delighted to announce its 2023-2024 season with a sizzling selection of shows that continue the McCallum tradition of bringing unparalleled excellence to our Coachella Valley audiences.

This popular Festival is a dynamic live platform for dancemakers and dancers to showcase their work and powerfully engages audiences around dance in the Coachella Valley. Saturday evening includes a Lifetime Achievement presentation, while Sunday afternoon showcases local dancers participating in East Valley Dance Project. Whose Live Anyway?

The current cast members of the Emmy-nominated TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? are proud to present their new improv tour: WHOSE LIVE ANYWAY?, 90 minutes of hilarious improvised comedy and song all based on audience suggestions. Cast members Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davis, and Joel Murray will leave you gasping with the very witty scenes they invent before your eyes. Audience participation is key to the show so bring your suggestions and you might be asked to join the cast onstage! WHOSE LIVE ANYWAY? showcases some of the improv games made famous on the long-running TV show as well as some exciting new ones, featuring musical direction by Bob Derkach. Celebrating 50 years, The Manhattan Transfer continues to set the standard as one of the world’s most innovative vocal groups with their blend of pop, jazz, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, swing and a cappella music. John Williams has become a household name, recognized around the world as today’s greatest living composer of music for motion pictures. John’s music speaks to the heart and soul of the listener, no matter who they are, or where they are. To hear this music played live by a great symphony orchestra is, without a doubt, the purest way to experience the music of John Williams. The McCallum Theatre Orchestra is made up of many of Hollywood’s finest musicians, several of whom have played on the film scores of John Williams. Music from Star Wars, E.T., Indiana Jones, Schindler’s List, Hook, and Jurassic Park will be just a few of the film scores that will make this concert memorable.

One of public radio’s most popular programs, Selected Shorts is a live theatrical experience with a simple premise: take great stories by well-known and emerging writers and have them brought to life by terrific actors of stage and screen. Whether featuring stories around a lively theme, the favorite works of a guest author, or a special collaboration, each Selected Shorts event is a unique night of literature in performance. Selected Shorts began in 1985 and has enjoyed sold-out performances throughout its history. Produced by Symphony Space in New York City, Selected Shorts reaches hundreds of thousands of listeners on over 130 stations and streaming services each week.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents: Sing & Swing Featuring Bria Skonberg and Benny Benack III

For over three decades, Jazz at Lincoln Center, under the direction of Wynton Marsalis, has been a leading advocate for jazz, culture and arts education globally. Robert Klein With Special Guest Leo Kottke

For over forty years, Robert Klein has entertained audiences and has had an acclaimed career in comedy, Broadway, television, and film. Born in the Bronx, he was a member of the famed “Second City” theatrical troupe in Chicago. He was nominated twice for Grammy Awards for “Best Comedy Album of the Year” for his albums Child of the Fifties and Mind Over Matter. He received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor and won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for his performance in the hit Neil Simon musical They’re Playing Our Song. In 1993, Klein won an Obie and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in Wendy Wasserstein’s The Sisters Rosensweig.

After recording more than 40 albums over four decades, prolific guitarist Leo Kottke boasts an impressive body of work and an unrivaled fingerpicking style that has won him two Grammy nominations and widespread acclaim. Drawing inspiration from folk, blues and jazz, he plays his signature 6-string and 12-string guitars with effortless aptitude, a big heart and an even bigger grin.

Steve Young, star of the acclaimed documentary Bathtubs

Over Broadway, pulls back the curtain on one of the strangest, most improbable realms of show business: musicals written for corporate events. Steve, a longtime writer for David Letterman, accidentally discovered the hidden world of Broadway-style shows created for sales meetings and conventions from the 50’s to the 80’s. Now he’s coming to the McCallum to share a cornucopia of unlikely gems.

Emceeing live performances of striking numbers from shows such as “The Bathrooms Are Coming!” (American-Standard) and “Diesel Dazzle” (Detroit Diesel), Steve gleefully reveals a world that transcends kitsch to reach a surprising level of profundity. Ted Vigil John Denver Tribute

Ted Vigil is a brilliant singer, and songwriter. He was born in Seattle and has been performing from the age of ten throughout school in concert, symphonic and jazz bands developing his talents as a drummer and singer. He has played for John Denver’s own “Windstar Foundation” and won Talent Quest 2006 involving 28 states. In 2016 Ted was part of the Kings of Country Tour in Australia starring Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and John Denver Tribute artists touring 20 cities from coast to coast.
