Mote Marine Laboratory started its week on a high note. Staff on June 5 released a loggerhead dubbed Ms. Marker off Lido Key. She was rescued April 14 after a pair of anglers reported a turtle floating on top of the water. Mote staff treated her symptoms, which were initially associated with Florida red tide toxins, and released her a month and a half later. If you see distressed or dead turtles or any other sea turtle nests or hatchlings in trouble, call Mote’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research program at 388-4331.
