Turtle time While the snowbirds are away, the turtles will lay — eggs that is. Mote Marine Laboratory found the first three nests of the 2017 season, in Venice on April 30 and May 1. During nesting season, those whose homes face the beach should turn off outdoor lights at night. Beachgoers should also make sure to pick up beach furniture and avoid leaving large holes in the sand.
