John and Donna Gary celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Feb. 23. The couple, who met at their church in Chicago and moved to Sarasota in 1985, celebrated their anniversary by visiting Marc Chagall’s “Flowers and the French Riviera: The Color of Dreams” exhibit at the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and having dinner at Ophelia’s on the Bay. They also participated in “Say I Do Again” on Feb. 14 on Siesta Key. But, the secret to their long marriage doesn’t have to do with events and art exhibits. It’s something much more meaningful. “It’s very simple,” John Gary said. “We’ve had our ups and downs in our marriage. We love each other very much, of course, but the main thing is we read our Bibles, and we pray together every single day.”
