wenty-year Longboat Key resident Maureen Merrigan noticed something troubling during the last full moon as tides flowed out of the Beer Can Island lagoon: It looked almost landlocked.
Little mermaids make splash Cousins Ayla Blair Balfour, 2, and Ariana Caroline Iannello, 1, granddaughters of Key residents Joe and Karen Iannello, visited Longboat Key to celebrate Ariana’s first birthday. The children, who visited last year and took a similar picture in mermaid outfits, love the beach and warm weather.
