MORE THAN A LITTLE RUSTY 11:48 a.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive Rescue: A condominium employee was transported to a hospital after he fell from 8 feet off the ground while trying to change the light bulb on a pole. The employee was leaning against the pole, which broke at the ground level. The pole was rusty and corroded from moisture over the years. ILLEGAL DUMPING 11:37 p.m. — 200 block of GMD Suspicious Circumstance: A restaurant employee told police he heard strange noises behind a Dumpster. Police believe someone in a car pulled up and threw several bags of garbage in the bin.

SEAWALL SEPARATION ANXIETY 5:09 p.m. — 500 block of Jungle Queen Way Public Service: A woman complained that her seawall started to crack and separate due to the construction and repair of her neighbor’s seawall. When she reported the incident to the construction company, it gave her a $1,900 repair estimate. She said she wants the seawall fixed for free. Police told her it’s a civil matter and suggested she contact her insurance company so an engineer could give

her an assessment of the cause of the damage.

TIME OF BOOKING 1:06 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway Suspicious Person: A library volunteer called police because a man was in the library all morning reading. She felt it was suspicious because he was there so long. He was gone before police arrived.

LINE BREAK 11:48 a.m. — 3200 block of Bayou Road Gas Leak: A landscaping crew damaged a gas line while removing a small palm tree. The company owner immediately called Longboat Key Fire Rescue, which stopped the leak until the gas company arrived to repair it.
WANTED GUESTS 5:58 p.m. — 500 block of Birdie Lane Suspicious Circumstance: A man told police he saw strange men walking around his neighbor’s pool area across the canal. Police contacted the owner of the house, who confirmed the men have permission to use her house while she is out of town.

FAMILY REUNION 6:39 p.m. — 600 block of Magnolia Road Suspicious Circumstance: A man called police to report a suspicious car in his neighbor’s driveway. The owner of the car turned out to be the neighbor’s grandson, and his visit was sanctioned.
FOOTPRINT FIGHT 12:31 p.m. — 4200 block of GMD Disturbance: A housekeeper told police she was clocking out when she overheard the handyman complain about her to the office manager. She confronted the handyman, and an argument ensued. The handyman told police he complained because the housekeeper reported him earlier for leaving dirt footprints in a unit she cleaned. No further action was taken.

UNSETTLING PHONE CALL 5:18 p.m. — 4300 block of Falmouth Drive Harassing Phone Call: A woman told police she received a phone call from a man with a blocked number who called her an explicit name and threatened her. She believes the call was in retaliation for firing an employee last month for having a bad attitude.

TAG TROUBLE 9:02 a.m. — 1200 block of GMD Public Service: A woman who sold her car to a Sarasota man forgot to take the temporary tag off the vehicle before he drove away. She couldn’t reach him to retrieve the tag. Police left him a message to return the tag.

AFTER HOURS 12:48 a.m. — 100 block of GMD Code Enforcement: Police told a couple they couldn’t be in Overlook Park because it was closed.

WINE VIOLATION 2:30 a.m. — 3600 block of Bayou Circle Alarm: A woman told police she believes her home alarm went off because the door to the wine room wasn’t secure. CLEANING OR MOVING SERVICE? 8:18 a.m. — 5000 block of GMD Civil Disturbance: A woman told a housekeeper she refuses to pack up her belongings and depart from a unit until her rental agreement is up. The housekeeper wanted her to pack so she could clean the unit. Police found the housekeeper cleaning and noticed she had packed up some of the renter’s belongings. Police told her to leave the unit and not return until the woman’s rental agreement expires or she will receive a trespass warning. TURTLE TRAP 10:14 a.m. — Off the Key Animal Rescue: Marine patrol found a deceased loggerhead turtle that was caught in a crab trap.
