Fish fry says goodbye Hooked on the Longboat Key Historical Society’s fish fry? You might be out of luck. The 11th annual Old Thyme Fish Fry, scheduled for Oct. 30, has been canceled. “We had to cancel the fish fry due to a problem with a vendor, which couldn’t be solved in time,” Historical Society President Pam Coleman said. Coleman said she hopes the Historical Society will host another event in the spring and plans on bringing back the fish fry next year.

David and Lucile Miller
Can you top 60 years? David Miller, co-owner of Cannons Marina, moved to the Key when he was just 4 years old in 1955. As the town prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Longboat Observer is searching for anyone who can top Miller’s 60 years of Longboat living. “It dawned on me a year or so ago that I couldn’t think of anybody who was still around when I came here in 1955,” Miller said. “Not saying there isn’t anyone, but I think I’ve been here the longest.” If you’ve lived on the Key for 60 years or more, we want to hear from you.
