Ed Mues, pictured at his 95th birthday party, just turned 100.
Happy birthday, Ed! Ed Mues reached a milestone on April 12. The former Longboat Key resident and Kiwanis Club member just turned 100. On April 23, Mues, who now lives in Greenville, S.C., celebrated with friends at The Lazy Lobster. He started the day by playing 18 holes on the Longboat Key Club’s Islandside Links on Longboat course.
Foundation board awards $3.4 million in grants
The Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation board of directors recently approved more than $3.4 million in grants and initiatives. This brings the foundation’s grant total to more than $6 million for 2017 so far. The grants are investments to improve subjects ranging from math and reading education to medical models for treating childhood trauma in the Longboat and Sarasota areas.
