Shaken, not stirred William H. Bashaw Elementary School fourthgrader David Perez didn’t mind that his hands froze May 31 on the last day of school. He and his classmates shook a gallon-sized bag filled with ice for more than 20 minutes as the contents inside it — another bag containing sugar, cream, vanilla and salt — transformed into homemade ice cream. “It is cool we are gong to be able to eat it,” he said

Best seat in the house William H. Bashaw Elementary fourth-grader Connor Dzembo (in photo on right with Ryan Pawelkoski) rolled up to a picnic table May 31. The school celebrated the installation of two Buddy Benches, on which children sit when they feel lonely or in need of a friend. The four picnic tables were made specifically so individuals in wheelchairs can sit next to non-wheelchair bound friends.
