New York state of mind Lakewood Ranch’s Melanie Fernandez said she could take an assortment of bagels from around the world and pick out the ones from New York. “It’s a different chew, a different texture,” she said. She and her husband, Lazaras, on Aug. 28 will open Mellie’s New York Deli & Eatery in Braden River Plaza, 4650 State Road 64, Bradenton. The eatery will offer fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, salads, wraps and sub sandwiches, among other items. For information on the new shop, visit MelliesNewYorkDeli.com
