YOUR TOWN Don’t snap ... smile! Florida Fish and Wildlife has alerted Lakewood Ranch residents it will be in the area April 1721 as it institutes its alligator dental health program. Fish and Wildlife officers will shoot the alligators with sodium pentobarbital and use regular alligator handling practices to prepare the gators for cleanings, extractions, and cosmetic dental procedures such as dental implants. Residents are warned to stay away from sleeping alligators left on the banks of local ponds and lakes as they wake up and try to find their way home.

Scully is out, oar else The World Rowing Championships committee will consider changing the name of its mascot after it was served with a legal action to refrain from using “Scully.” The Urban Fishing League of Miami already has a mascot named Scully and it claims the use of the same name is an infringement upon its rights. “Our Scully has been sailing with us for 17 years,” said UFL President Sandy Chark. A spokesman for the World Rowing Championships said Oarville is being considered.
