Apple for the teacher Denise Touchberry, who teaches the engineering lab for kindergarten through fifth grades at Gilbert W. McNeal Elementary School, has been named the SarasotaManatee chapter of the Air Force Association's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Teacher of the Year. The STEM award was presented at the June 28 meeting of the School Board of Manatee County. A release said Touchberry’s selection was based on her wide variety of STEM-based activities as well as the performance of her students in countywide competitions.

Hello neighbor Bobcats have been making quite a few appearances around the East County area as of late, and that was the case again July 14 in Country Club. Rebecca and George Ristow found these cool cats in their driveway on Lost Key Place and photographed the moment.
