Trash talk Greenbrook’s Vildred Fitzgerald wanted to shine light on the good deeds of his neighbors. His letter to the Lakewood Ranch Community Development District led to Kathy and Frank Black, above, being lauded for beautifying the neighborhood. “I’m a walker, and I always see them picking up trash,” Fitzgerald said of the Blacks. Supervisor Joe Sidiski gave kudos to resident Jim Skarda for his beautifying efforts as well.

Chris Loftus, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center’s chief operating officer, won’t have trouble ordering lunch in February. The hospital has named a sandwich for him. During a peanut butter drive for The Food Bank of Manatee County, the hospital offers the Chris Loftus sandwich — creamy peanut butter and grape jelly on toasted whole wheat — for $2, with proceeds benefiting the food bank.
