Peace Presbyterian Church of Lakewood Ranch hosted an Interfaith Dinner Oct. 2 that brought together Presbyterians and members of the Islamic Society to learn more about their religions. “The Presbyterian Church recognizes the value of working with other faith traditions because we believe the power of the Holy Spirit calls us to build wholeness, peace, and justice for all humankind,” said Presbyterian Church Pastor Elizabeth Deibert.

Adventure Park’s playground and the soccer field behind it are designed to flood if the Braden River rises over its banks. Hurricane Hermine caused the park to close for a couple of days, but the park was soon back to normal.

Splash for cats Tara Moran celebrated her 8th birthday with a pool party at home with a mission to help charity. Instead of gifts, her guests brought donations for Cat Depot. She donated the money raised at the party during the Giving Challenge, turning her $70 contribution into one of $230, plus a large box of food, toys and supplies. “It made me feel really good,” she said.
