Elementary moves Trey Hedrick, a kindergarten student at Gullett Elementary, never knew dancing could be so much fun and good for you, too. Then two instructors showed up Jan. 20 during Gullett’s second annual Zumbathon to lead Gullett’s students by playing some tunes in the bus loop. All the students were let out of class for 20 minutes for a little sunshine and exercise. Hedrick said he loved strutting his stuff.

Love locks East County residents Lance and Sarah Wiegand bought a lock, engraved their devotion for each other on it, then fastened it a footbridge at Nathan Benderson Park. They were following a recent trend people refer to as “LoveLocks.” After attaching the lock to a bridge, the key is tossed into the water. “It’s something we’ve read about and seen in other cities, including Pittsburgh, where I’m from,” Sarah Wiegand said.
