Newbridge Food Donations Stay Within the Family

Dozens of boxes are filled with food at Newbridge Road Elementary School in the North Bellmore School for the annual Thanksgiving food drive. All donations will benefit families within the community.

The food drive is a partnership between the school and the PTA. Each grade level was assigned a different item to bring in, such as canned goods, desserts, juice and pasta, to ensure that a variety of food is collected. Sixth graders have been helping sort the food and check expiration dates, and PTA members will create food packages for each family.

Sixth grader Elyzabeth Kuchynskas said that the food drive is important to ensure that everyone in North Bellmore has a good Thanksgiving.

“It feel right to give people food that don’t have enough food,” added A.J. Navarro. “It's giving back to the community.”
