Edi t orsLetter EditorsLetter Welcome to our first printed issue of Your Child in Whittlesea Magazine since April 2020. It is amazing to be at last publishing in print this month as well as online. I hope you enjoy catching up with some of our new articles, a new park and what’s on in the Whittlesea area. The magazine this month has some great reading, on page 14 ‘Start off driving on the right path,’ will be very helpful for any parent trying to teacher their children how to drive. We have an interesting article about ‘Baby Led Weaning,’ on page 18 and ‘Benefit of the Beat’ can be found on page 22, which looks at the developmental advantages that music can provide young children. Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10. Hannah is at last back out visiting new parks and creating new adventures. This month she visited Lochran Road Park, Doreen. The park is always a fantastic place to venture out with your children either after school or on the weekend, especially with all the lovely weather we have been having. This month’s Kids in the Kitchen Mini Chef is Hannah, who has been busy creating some yummy Fruit Sorbets, see page 25 for the recipes. What’s On this month - has the City of Whittlesea’s Granite Hills Nature Discovery Walk and the Whittlesea Agricultural Society Open Information Afternoon. What’s On can be found on page 20. Remember we welcome contributions from our readers and their children. If you have something that may be of interest to your local community, please share it with us. Hannah was very excited to be back out visi ng our local parks a er Melbourne’s long Lockdown. This month she visited a park near her best friend Jackson’s house. Thankfully, Melbourne put on a great weather display - sunny and hot to start with and then it was raining! Lochran Road Park is a small park with a big mountain, a rock climbing face, slide and a see-saw. However, the lack of play equipment allowed the kids to play make believe. The trees at the back also created more fun and adventures ... pirates walking the plank! For us parents we could sit on the seats and enjoy watching the fun Hannah, Jackson and Darcy had playing together, for over an hour. Hannah’s park p - Always keep an eye on the sky for weather changes!

KITCHEN Fruit Sorbets with Hannah
Mango Sorbet: 3 cups of frozen mango chunks 1 tsp lemon juice 1 cup warm water
Mixed Berry Sorbet:
Raspberry Sorbet:
2 bananas sliced 300g frozen mixed berries 100g plain yoghurt 1 tsp honey
3 cups of frozen raspberries 2 tbs honey 1 tsp lemon juice warm water (if needed)
