Welcome to October To all our beautiful families in the Northern Beaches What could be better than warmth and sunshine surrounding us. I love how the weather is drawing our kids outside to play. Read a great article by Viv Grimson “Why should I send my child outdoors?” Going outside is good for our kids. So let them chase the chickens, hug their guinea pigs, go for a walk and have some “Fun Exercise”.

Applications are closing soon for Manly Council's 'Beautiful Blooming Gardens' competition, showcasing the best gardens in the Manly area and publicly acknowledging the creativity and hard work of Manly's most devoted gardeners.

Applications for the 'Beautiful Blooming Gardens' competition close on Friday 11 October.

A form for free entry to the competition is available from Manly Council's event website (manlyvibe.com.au).

The judging of the garden competition will be held on the weekend of 2-3 November and some great prizes will be on offer. www.manly.nsw.gov.au

Manly Council is launching an exciting series of twelve open-air events to enliven Manly CBD's Market Lane area on Saturday evenings (6.30 Manly Library's 'HSC LOCK-IN' will help 10.30pm) beginning Saturday 28 students stay motivated – and keep calm!

September through to Saturday 14 Manly Library will be throwing open its doors December, involving local restaurants again for HSC students with four free 'HSC and cafes; live performances and Lock-In' study sessions, including: busking; film screenings; creative ∙free wireless and internet access ∙free snacks and drinks, and market stalls; vintage car and bike ∙free Librarian supervision and help locating displays; dance and yoga classes! study resources A full programme of events available -5pm to 8pm- Thurs 10, 17, 24 & 31 October. on the Manly Council website No bookings are required.
