Welcome to the February 2019 edition of Your Child in Casey and Cardinia!

You'll notice a few changes in the magazine! The magazine is officially under new ownership!

A huge thankyou to Meagan Wade, the outgoing owner/editor, who started the magazine back in May 2017. Meagan moved to South Australia to be closer to family and reports back they have settled into their beautiful new home, and that things are going well!

I am very excited to introduce myself; my name is Stephanie Davies, and I am a proud mum of two lovely little people (with another on the way), living locally in Pakenham. l've enjoyed reading the magazine and am hoping to continue Meagan's great work - and to make the magazine even better. My vision is for this magazine to become a helpful resource for local families - connecting readers to local information and services, events, clubs and other activities.

I hope you have all had a wonderful start to the near year and are enjoying the beautiful (?) weather we are having!

Special Needs Playgroup EVERYONE needs somewhere to have fun and the chance to make new friends.......... so OurTime (Parents of special needs kids group) have organised WEEKLY exclusive play sessions at Lollipops Carrum Downs - Wednesday 5-7pm (or earlier if that suites routine better) The session is for any child or young person with any additional needs to attend with their brothers and sisters, mum, dad, grandparents or carers....

Every Wednesday afternoon in February Lollipops Play Centre in Carrum Downs $8 per child Max $20 for a family or 3 or more children The grown ups can catch up over coffee whilst the kids play.

Healthy Kids

HULK MUFFINS Dry Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

2 Cups Flour, whole wheat 1 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon 2 teapsons Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 Cup Milk 1/2 cup honey 1 Large Banana 6 ounce spinach 1/2 cup butter unsalted 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

■ Preheat oven to 176 c, and line a muffin pan with paper liners ■ Combine all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

■ Melt Butter. Blend the wet ingredients in a blender or food processor until completely pureed.

■ Pour the puree into the dry ingredient bowl, and fold together gently until just combined.

■ Spoon the batter into the muffin pan, and bake for 18 -22 minutes, or until the muffins are firm to the touch on top, but not quite browning.

■ Cool most or all of the way before serving.
