Welcome From the Editor

Welcome to the final issue of the year! This is my final issue as editor and owner of Your Child in Casey & Cardinia. We have a lovely new editor taking over the reins in 2019. I have had so much fun creating Your Child in Casey & Cardinia and I would like to thank all our readers and local businesses that have supported the magazine. My family has officially moved to South Australia and settling in nicely.

We have heaps of content to keep you reading over the break. With Summer here it’s important to slip slop slap but don’t forget children’s eyes! On page 15 we have an article on protecting your child’s eyes from UV. We have lots of tips for surviving the Silly Season and a guide on the transition from Kindergarten to Prep.

What’s On In Cardinia Council’s Carols By Candlelight

Christmas on the Foreshore 2018

Date: 8 December 2018 Location: Toomuc Recreation Reserve, Princes Highway, Pakenham Time: 6.00–10.30pm Cost: Free 6pm: Gates open for community picnic 7pm: Entertainment by local primary schools 8.30pm: Carols start, featuring the Cardinia Civic Concert Band and a visit from Santa 10pm: Fireworks Auslan interpreters in attendance. Alcohol and smoke free event.

Date: 14th of December 2018 Location: Tooradin Foreshore Time: 6:00 pm and finishes with a huge fireworks display at approx 9:30 to 10:00pm Cost: Gold Coin Donation.

All proceeds are spent on upgrading or maintaining the foreshore facilities.

This alcohol free event has something for everyone. Christmas carols will be sung all night, along with a Santa appearance, joy rides, and fire works. Food stalls and free BBQs available. NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED

Cockatoo Community Christmas Carols Date: 8 December 2018 Location: Alma Treloar Reserve , 73 Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, Cockatoo Time: 5.00–7.30pm Cost: Free With carol singing & plenty of free activities for the children, BBQ and a visit from Santa Emerald Carols By The Lake Date: 14 December 2018 Location: Emerald Lake Park, Emerald Lake Road, Emerald Time: 6.00–9.30pm Cost: Free Celebrate Christmas with picnic and entertainment from 6–8pm, then Carols featuring Cardinia Civic Band from 8–9.30pm

Rotary Club of Berwick’s Carols by Candlelight Date: 15 December 2018 Location: Edwin Flack Reserve (off Manuka Road in Berwick) Time: 6.00 pm-9.25 pm Cost: $2 per person, children under 13 free 6:00-7:00pm - ​Face-painting and Elf Christo, who mimes, juggles & bends balloons.

7:00-9:25pm - A range of performers 9:25pm Spectacular Fireworks

Carols By The Creek Date: 16 December 2018 Location: Bob Burgess Reserve , 4 Old Princes Highway, Beaconsfield Time: 6.30–9.30pm Cost: Free Face painting and fun for the kids starts from 6:30pm, so come early and grab a great spot on the grass with your picnic blanket.

Community Carols, great musical items and the Christmas story start from 7:45pm
