Editors Notice Board Hello and welcome to our December 2016/January 2017 issue!

Wow this year has flown by so super fast! Our family holiday to Queensland now feels so long ago. We all had the absolute best time. The weather was perfect and with each day there was something new and exciting to see and do. With 3 boys excitement is a must!

As soon as we were back it was straight into work mode to get onto this issue. There are plenty of articles to give tips for holidays and summer. One that probably would have come in handy last month for me is on page 10 - “Tips For Roads Trips & Holidays”. But I have definitely made some notes from the article “Tips & Tricks To Survive The Summer Holidays” - they will be here before we know it.

Inside there are a mix of articles sure to interest you from photography, making a will and why you should make time for you to exercise. Another one I am so guilty of but I’m going to stop that in 2017. How about you?

We have 2 great Family Favourite salads for you to try. Both perfect for the warm weather and for when you get invited to a friends and want to bring something. But be prepared for people to ask you for the recipes - they are so good!

In Kids Corner we have a Spot the Difference for the kids and also a cute New Years Resolutions for the kids to fill in and keep to look back on. It's a great tradition to start and a way for them to think back over the year and reminisce about fun times. Even seeing how they sign their name each year is super adorable.

Make sure to have a look at our What's On for information about Christmas Carols near you and Christmas fun. BROWN RICE, GRAPE & FETTA SALAD

2. Preheat oven to 180c (160c fan forced) Sprinkle cashews on oven tray & cook for 3-5 minutes until toasted.

Transfer to plate to cool.

PREP TIME: 20 minutes COOKING TIME: 25 minutes MAKES: 8 Serves INGREDIENTS à à à à à à à à à

2 x 250g pk of Brown Rice & Quinoa (Ready in 90 seconds) 1/2 cup cashews 300g green grapes 1 bunch parsley 2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 150g fetta - cubed 1/2 small red onion - finely chopped Lemon pieces to serve

METHOD 1. Cook rice as per instructions (90 seconds in microwave)

2. Wash grapes & pull from stems. Cut grapes lengthways.

3. Using just the leaves of the parsley, wash & dry, then chop up roughly 4. Combine the lemon juice & olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

5. Pour half the dressing on the rice and gentle mix through. Add remaining ingredients and then fold through the last of the seasoning. Serve with the lemon pieces.

FRESH WATERMELON & FETTA SALAD

PREP TIME: 15 minutes COOKING TIME: 0 MAKES: 6-8 Serves INGREDIENTS à à à à à à à à

Juice & zest of 1 lime 1 teaspoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 1 kg red seedless watermelon 1/2 bunch mint 1/2 bunch coriander 4 shallots 180g tub Persian fetta, crumbled

METHOD

in a large bowl.

2. Tear leaves from the mint and coriander, wash and dry then add to the bowl.

3. Finely slice the shallots and add to the bowl 4. Pour over the dressing and gently toss to combine 5. Sprinkle with crumbled fetta and serve.

Refreshing salad for a hot summer day!
