Well we have some great ideas for you and the kids are sure to love them, Yarra Valley Libraries have a fun ‘Catch the Rhythm’ program including Bollywood Dancing, Musical Storytimes and Musical Mayhem just to name a few of the activities. You can find more information on page 17.

What’s on near you ‐Page 21 has information on a Red Tent Event ‐ The Diamond Valley Red Tent is located at Eltham's Edendale Farm on the fringes of the Diamond Creek. It provides women with a space where they can go on a regular basis to take some time out, share their story, or just be in a still and reflective space. It is similar to the Men's Shed that provides men a safe space to share and be blokes. The Red Tent aims to offer women a safe and nurturing environment to gather. Find out more about the Diamond Valley Library Early Years Expo on page 7.

The Diamond Valley Red Tent is located at Eltham's Edendale Farm on the fringes of the Diamond Creek. It provides mothers and women with a space where they can go on a regular basis to take some time out, share their story, or just be in a still and reflective space. Much like the Men's Shed that is pitched at giving men a safe space to share and be blokes, the Red Tent aims to offer women a safe and nurturing environment to connect.

Throughout time women have gathered together. They gathered together to prepare food, celebrate, collaborate and process life. Yet in our modern society, isolation, due to everyday and family life can prevent women from gathering in such a way. As depression and anxiety can now be so prevalent in many women's lives, it Like us at feels important to open the opportunity to once again gather together in a communal space. A space where women can empower themselves in an environment that can support them emotionally, mentally and physically.

This space has also been referred to as a Red Tent inspired by the novel “The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant.

In September 2014 a group of local women were able to launch such a space that has become known as the YourChildinBanyuleandNillumbik Diamond Valley Red Tent. It is in this meeting place that women can look for, and often find, support and understanding of their own experiences, as well as offering support and understanding to the experiences of others; sharing hopes and dreams for themselves and their children.

Women from all walks of life and ages are welcome to come along to our Red Tent gatherings which run every six weeks. For a small donation we provide women with two alternating different styles of settings.

Red Tent Events: These evenings will provide women with a facilitated space to connect, be heard and to experience a guest presenter from the local community share their craft. Events are created through a collaborative effort of many women within the local community. Each woman brings her own diverse range of experience and skills, enriching the space and creating the ongoing web of support. For example presentations may include teaching handicrafts, body therapies, parenting tips or even speaking about topics of interest.

Red tent R & R: The Red Tent R&R nights are a gently facilitated space, which allows for women to come and find stillness and some important me time. This space can provide women with the opportunity to rest, reflect and re‐fill their cups. A brief recess from the treadmill of life can rejuvenate the mind and increase productivity. When women give themselves permission to pause, they can then move forward with clarity and purpose.

Our next Diamond Valley Red Tent event will be held on Friday 31st July.
