HeattendedIowaStateUniversityforhisbachelor’sdegreein AnimalScienceandearnedhismaster’sdegreeinpopulation geneticsandPh.D.inimmunogeneticsfrom CornellUniversity.He receivedhispost-doctoraltraininginmolecularandcellular biologyandtheninpharmacologyattheUniversityof PennsylvaniaSchoolofMedicine.
