CAMPING PROGRAMS — 2013

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish” (John 1:14 – The Message).

God’s generous portions for Young Life Global camping do not stop at property, buildings or financial resources. His generosity extends to the realm of inspiration and creativity. There are many places in our world where Young Life camp looks different; it is not land and buildings, amazing rides or world-class accommodations owned by Young Life. Rather, it is a commitment to bring camp to kids, if we cannot bring kids to camp. It is a commitment to collaborate with the body of Christ worldwide through the use of affiliate camps or rented properties. It is a commitment to allow God to expand our thinking with regards to camp, so every kid might truly have an opportunity to experience a quality, fun, safe, Christ-centered camp experience. In Latin America and Africa, this looks like the COW. (Camp on Wheels), or renting a local school facility while they are on holiday. In Kyrgyzstan, it looks like “Graffiti Camp,” where kids paint all day and hear stories about Jesus at night. In Portugal, Young Life staff created surf camp, while in Jamaica the Young Life Expeditions team runs annual orphan camps for kids outside of Montego Bay. In Germany and Northern Asia, it looks like English camps, where thousands attend day camps, or virtual camps, to learn both English and about God’s love. Then there are service projects for Eastern and Western European kids, helping those less fortunate, while experiencing a week of camp. These are just the beginnings of God’s generous portions when it comes to future innovations in camping. It is exciting to dream about what He will inspire and the lives that will be impacted!

How about you? When was the last time you asked God for His generous portions with regards to your creativity, vision and inspiration? Take some time to bring this before your heavenly Father and begin to write down the ideas He gives you.
