CLEARWATER COVE — 2000

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).

Clearwater Cove was set to open February Lampe, Missouri 5, 2016. A few months before the grand opening, the mission realized the funding was not going to cover all the details in opening this new camp, including items as important as mattresses. While the camp staff and construction teams continued to prepare for the first-ever weekend, the Young Life Camping department in Colorado Springs made a call to Tempur-Pedic. Upon hearing of the need, Tempur-Pedic donated 250 mattresses to Clearwater Cove! God saw to it that kids and staff would have some of the most comfortable beds made to sleep in. In Young Life we are very familiar with the gospel being heard at club and seen through the service of work crew and summer staff volunteers. In this instance, the gospel was also felt at Clearwater Cove. Every night excited teens are in awe and exhausted leaders are deeply thankful that they are sleeping on 13” memory foam mattresses. It was one of the most talked- about aspects of the new camp that year and one of many examples of God’s generous portions unexpectedly showing up at a Young Life camp.

In Young Life camping, we strive to give kids “the best week of their lives.” From good food enjoyed around a table, to comfortable accommodations, we want kids to relax, enjoy and be refreshed. Interestingly, we are only able to refresh kids because of God’s generosity through others. TempurPedic’s generosity and refreshment served to refresh kids and their leaders.
