This month marks Young Guns Music Magazine’s first year as a publication. YGMM actually first began as a blog in December 2014. It was always our goal to transition YGMM into an online publication when we first launch our blog. We were simply not sure on how soon we would be able to transition our blog into a magazine, but with a little luck and hard work we were able to launch our first full magazine publication in February 2015. The inspiration behind YGMM was to help give local up and coming artist a platform to tell their story to their friends and fans. Today, our mission remains the same. Our first magazine publication reached only about 1300 readers; which we were excited about. This readership was generated primarily by our own social media and the social media of those artists we covered. Each artist was asked to help promote their coverage on their own social media and tell their fans about YGMM and with that formula we began to grow quickly. Within the following few months we saw our readership grow to a little over 5K readers. We then made a decision to include up and coming artists from beyond our city limits and send out for submission requests to artists beyond the Texas music market. The response we got was phenomenal and hard to keep up with and before we knew it, our readership grew to over 45K making us an international publication. We realize that 45K readers from a global perspective is small, but we are hoping to multiply that significantly in 2016.
In 2016, we will begin to collaborate with national PR firms and independent labels in promoting artist they represent. However, our focus on promoting local up and coming talent will not change. We believe it is a win/win for everyone because it helps give our local artists national and international exposure. We are excited! Here is wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Young Guns Music Magazine is excited to announce it's First Annual Young Guns Music Award's Artists of the Year. When we first launched Young Guns Music Magazine, we knew we would not have to look too far to find some of the best up and coming talent in the State of Texas. The City of San Antonio has truly proved to be a gold mine of local talent. However, despite Young Guns Music Magazine being primarily focused on local music scene, we did not want to only limit our coverage to San Antonio. We branched out and included artists from across the United States and as far away as Canada and Mexico. By doing so it had a tremendous impact on our readership and the growth of Young Guns Music Magazine as a publication. Since our very first full publication in February 2015, we grew from a little over 1300+ readers to 45K by November 2015. Our readers are music lovers and artists from across the United States and across the world. We choose the name "Young Guns" Music Magazine to primarily show case up and coming young artists who are just starting off in their music careers and journey. However, we have not, and will not exclude the seasoned "young at heart " artists. It has been our experience that the seasoned artists that we have covered have provided Young Guns Music Magazine and our readers some great sound advice by sharing their own personal stories. We are proud to present to our readers the following 10 artists as our selection of Young Guns Music Magazine's Top 10 Artists of the Year for 2015. In November we sent out a request to our readers to nominate artists they felt were deserving of the award. We received over 3K submissions from our readership and social media. Some of the artists selected have been featured by Young Guns Music Magazine in earlier editions and some are new. Many perform different genres of music and possess different levels of experience. However despite their differences in music, experience, and genres, we believe that each one has their own unique talent, dedication and drive to make their mark in the music industry today.
