ELORA Every month our email gets filled with lots of questions about how to submit info to be considered for publication in our magazine. We thought we'd answer the top three questions that were asked this month. 1. Does Young Guns only feature "young" artist? A: The answer is no. Although our publication focuses on up and coming new artists, there are no age limits. We are committed to supporting all genres of music and all ages of artist. 2. How do I submit my info and what do you look for? A: We ask that you submit your or your band's bio via email to: info@younggunsmusicmagazine.com. Within the bio we'd like you to include as much information about your group or yourself as possible. For example, when you first began to perform? How old were you? Who or what inspired you? How did you come up with the name of your band? ...etc. The more info you provide us the better. 3. What about pictures, what do you want or look for? A: Pictures must be high quality. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Pictures are important. Make sure they represent you and your music. Hope this helps and hope to hear from you!

JORDAN JAE New York
Hailing from New York, sixteen-year-old indi-pop singer/songwriter Jordan JAE has been singing since she can remember. She began taking vocal lessons at age 7 and by 9 she began to try her hand at song writing. By 13, her hard work and dedication to her craft soon provided her with an opportunity to record at SlumboLabs recording studio in Brooklyn working with Jake Ottmann where she continued to develop her singing and songwriting skills. She began to quickly grow a social media following with her YouTube cover videos with her renditions of Ed Sheeran’s “The Fault in Our Stars”, Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Star”, Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love”, and many more. Soon after, she began working on original songs. She teamed up with Grammy nominated songwriters and producers Kinetic & One Love (Eminem, B.o.B, Sean Kingston, and Melanie Martinez) which led to her debut single, “Said No One Ever” which was released in March 2014. Her single was well received by her YouTube fans and transformed Jordan JAE to a bona fide singer/songwriter on the rise. In August 2014, Jordan JAE quickly followed up with her second single, “Making’ Me Crazy”. In early 2015 she released the first single off her highly anticipated debut EP, “Hopping Fences”. The track displays maturation in Jordan’s writing and folksy-flair that sets the tone for the effortlessly cool sound fans can expect from her in the future. Young Guns Music Magazine had the opportunity to catch up with the teen beauty and ask her a few questions about her and her music. YGMM: We love what we hear in your music, for those who have yet to hear it, how would you describe your music? JJ: I think Iwould describe my music as Passenger Meets Ellie Goulding. YGMM: That's an interesting combination. We're sure that you as an artists have had many great influences but who do you feel has been your greatest influence so far in you music career? JJ: My greatest influence in my music career is by far my Dad. He is an unbelievable guitarist and I grew up listening to him play. He is the reason I started getting into music in the first place

YGMM: We often like to ask the artists that we interview questions about their beginnings. Tell us, where was your very first public performance and what do you most remember about it? JJ: My first performance was at The Bitter End. What I remember most was all the love and support. All of my friends and family were in the audience cheering me on, it was truly one of the best days of my life. YGMM: We' the opportunity to check out and read a lot about your recordings and viewed your youtube videos. Do you also perform live? JJ: Yes, I do perform live! Not as often as I would like and I am working on getting my new show up and running so that I can perform a whole bunch! I've had the opportunity to perform at many different venues such as The Bitter End, The Montauk Music Festival, Le Poisson Rouge, and Camp Danbee just to name a few. YGMM: Do you usually perform with a live band or with tracks at your performances? JJ: Both actually, I do have a guitarist that accompanies me at times and I perform with tracks as well it really all depends upon the venue. YGMM: 2015 seems to have been a great year for you and your music. Tell us, what can your fans expect from you in 2016? JJ: My fans can expect a whole new EP. I am so excited to release it and have been working so hard on it! It’s beyond exciting for me to be able to share my music with everyone. YGMM: Finally, What advice would you give to a young aspiring artist who is just starting out? JJ: Keep trying, never give up, and PRACTICE! You need to be ready for all opportunities, which means you need to practice every single day, and not let yourself be discouraged. Let people’s harsh words push you and not stop you. Trisha Lynn San Antonio, Tx
Trisha Lynn has been making some serious noise recently throughout the San Antonio, Texas music scene. With her stellar vocals, she's been turning heads and tuning-in ears with her beautiful renditions on the acoustic guitar. The twenty-five year old native of Columbus, Ohio , who moved to San Antonio at age two, got her start when she was seven years old when her mom encouraged her to sing her favorite songs at her aunt’s wedding. Taking to the stage like a natural, she sang Jewel’s “You Were Meant For Me” and Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On". "I remember seeing people from the next room over in the hall coming up to the stage and cheering me on. It was an amazing feeling and I never let it go and it was from that moment on I knew I wanted to be a singer". From there she says she never really did much with performing except for family reunion parties where she would sing karaoke. "I loved to sing, so any chance I got, I took it" It wasn't until the age of 10 that she felt she truly started to sing for a real purpose. She began performing with her worship leader at her home church. " I sang all the time. I craved music! It was never quiet at my house. There was always something playing in the background ; but it was never just noise. This is probably why I was inspired to pursue my love for music further". Trisha recalls receiving her first guitar and feels that it was literally a gift from God. She shared the story about a woman named Margaret who was a part of the worship team. Margaret played an absolutely gorgeous custom made Ibanez guitar with a purple and black sunburst and pearl lining the frets and sounding chamber of the guitar. "I remember thinking to myself how badly I wanted to learn and prayed that God would give me a guitar. Three days later, Margaret came to my house and told me that the Lord told her to give me a guitar. It was a turning point for the rest of my life".

"She taught me my first three chords but got really busy with other projects so she gave me a few books that she had, and the rest was history". Trisha said she would play every day after school and on the weekends, learning new chords and progressions with every passing day and within a month she was writing her first song "Angels are Waiting". Fast forwrd to present day, Young Guns Music Magazine had the opportunity to ask Trisha a few questions about her and her music. YGMM: How would you describe yourself and your music today? TL: I would describe myself as an aspiring artist with a passion for meaningful music. I strive to show listeners the more personal side of me through my lyrics and the positive message behind them. I aim to encourage my fans to do more with their life than just settle for second best. I don't want them to be afraid to make mistakes because that’s how we learn about ourselves and the people around us. As far as my music, I write about real life, and the struggles that everyone has endured at least once or twice in their lifetime. I write about Love and the battles within ourselves when it comes to finding the true meaning of it. I write about hard truths that show a glimpse of who I am and who I have been to be where I am now. I give a message of hope and inspiration with just a single phrase, or sometimes the entire song. I've been told that my style of music is a Janis Joplin's meets Taylor Swift. In the end, it just works out and I am able to write my music to compliment my style. YGMM: To date, what do you feel your biggest accomplishement has been with your music? TL: My biggest accomplishment in my own opinion so far is maintaining my household with every obstacle ever thrown against me and still perusing my career as a musician. I've been through plenty of hardships in the short life that I have lived so far. I wouldn't change anything. It has been challenging and very exhausting, but everything I have done up to this point only shows the determination and motivation that I have to continue moving forward with my goals as a musician. YGMM: Who do you attribute as being your biggest influence as a singer/song writer? TL: Jewel has and always will be my inspiration as a musician. She's raw and incredibly talented. Her lyrics are meaningful and relative to everyday life, which makes it even more easy to be moved by the passion that emanates from her music. If ever I have the chance to meet her one day, I would love to collaborate with her and write something amazing! My life would be complete and I could die happy. She makes it look so easy to be who she is without tribulation in her field of work. She inspires me to pursue my career as a musician and not to mention she’s a mother herself! I can relate to her so much in so many ways because I am finding out what it’s like to be a woman in this industry and I think it is a rough position if you are not grounded.

YGMM: Do you think it is more difficult for a woman today to make it in the music business? TL: I can definitely say it is harder to be a woman in this business because the expectations as an artist are so much higher. You have to look a certain way, talk a certain way, dress a certain way, and appeal to everyone a certain way. In reality, it's so easy to lose yourself as a woman of dignity when the world wants to take your image and change it into something they want. I am not one to be a part of conformity. I feel if someone likes me, great! If not, that’s okay too, because at the end of the day, I am not here to be pleasing the world, I am here to change it. That is my ultimate goal as a musician, and as a Christian. I want to be standing out from the crowd because I have something real, and I want to share it with the world. YGMM: So what have you been up to lately with your music? Share with us what's next for Trisha Lynn. TL: Recently I really started to pursue my career when I met my manager, Sharon. My pops, as I like to call him, introduced me to her a few months back and she really changed the game for me. She helped me put together an amazing band with very talented people who share the same vision as me. It’s incredibly important that the people I work with share the same goals because that’s where the drive to keep pushing comes from. We all work together to get to the same destination. I want to be famously known for the music we create as a whole that still resonates the same message I am sharing as an individual. I believe with some fine tuning, I have the sound I'm looking for and they have the drive I need to keep moving forward. They each bring their personality and passion to the table of creativity and together, I believe we will be something truly special. I am so thankful for all of them because they each play an important role to reach our not so distant goal. I look forward to working with them every time we get together and I am proud to call them my friends. YGMM: So what are some of your goals for 2016? TL: I believe a musician has the responsibility and the power to make a difference to those they expose their music to. For some, music is a gateway to finding whatever they are searching for, and for others it’s just as way to relax. Whether it is for this reason or something else, music influences people. My goal as a musician is to influence listeners in a positive way. Bringing hope and light to the entertainment industry, and making a difference in the life of those that are listening. Getting to know Trisha Lynn and learning about her an her music was a refreshing experience for Young Guns Music Magazine. Her spirt, confidence and out look on her music and career is very inspiring. We think that she is definitly one to follow in the future. She is simply a "must see". Young Guns Music Magazine is committed to supporting community organizations that help foster the learning of music and the arts to our young. We pledge to do all we can to help such organizations with our time, talent and financial support. Daily, many children are neglected, left behind, and face immense danger, it goes unseen and unknown to many of us. On school days, parents are at work, between the hours of 3:00 and 6:00pm. These are peak hours for teens and children to fall into the deadly trap of peer pressure, bullying, crime, drugs, gangs, teen pregnancies, child abuse, neglect and the most terrifying of all, child abduction. Inspire a Child USA is a non-profit organization in San Antonio, Texas that raises funds to establish a foundation for after school programs, internet resources and summer camps to schools and community organizations at no cost. Its goal is to help reduce, if not, eliminate these atrocities by inspiring the children to do great things through arts training. Programs are designed to help develop a basic creative arts and arts technology curriculum with variants customized to different age groups, skill levels and cultures. In our never ending search for emerging artists, Young Guns recently had the opportunity to catch the performance of an up and coming singer/songwriter who has been working hard to make a name for herself in the local San Antonio music scene. Needless to say, we were simply blown away by her and simply had to introduce her to our readers. Vanessa Lynn is a 27 year-old talented artist who has a refreshing stage presence and unique ability to connect with both the young and young at heart with her music. She shared with us that she grew up listening to a lot of pop, flamenco, and classical music, which created a challenge for her not knowing a lot of covers. However, she says this challenge became a strength for her. "Since I often hear songs for the first time and learn them within a few days; they sound different from the original. The influence of Lara & Reyes and Ottmar Liebert’s flamenco combined with my love for Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, and Miranda Lambert have made my songwriting take on a unique blend of genres." She loves pop and alternative/indie rock music but has recently started exploring country and blues. We wanted to know where her musical journey began. She shared with us that for as long as she can remember, she has been singing. She was exposed to music at an early age taking piano lessons when she was just 4 years old and credits her start in music to her two older brothers who she says she tried to keep up with. "When I was four, my brothers and I jumped up on stage at my dad’s work Christmas party and started rocking out to the Ghost Busters theme song. I’m pretty sure we looked and sounded ridiculous, but I haven’t been able to stay off a stage since." It seems that every artist we've had the opportunity to interview has had that one special moment that served as a turning point in the success of their music . In learning about Vanessa Lynn's career in music we discovered that her turning points seemed to be focused around "employment." Just as when she and her brothers first jumped on stage at her dad's work launched her interest in performing, years later, in August 2009, she would take the stage with her own employer by participating and winning her company's talent show. Not long after winning the talent show, she was approached by a coworker who said he heard her singing at that talent show, he mentioned that he played guitar and asked if she'd like to start a band and the beginning of her music career began. Then in September 2011, her band "Flyaway" was officially launched. She took her time developing a set list and in February 2012 she performed her first open mic. "We started out small. I can remember my first open mic at Luna…I was shaking like a leaf in the stage lights, but the rush of feeling my voice fill the room was incomparable to anything I’d ever felt. I was addicted." 16
She soon began expanding her set list and playing the local San Antonio open mics scene at popular venues such as Fitzgerald’s and The Cove. Word of her performances soon spread and she was invited to perform at more venues across the city and a huge event for several thousand people for her employer. She eventually added Michael Simonson who is her drummer and duet partner and continued to expand playing at more venues and events which now included such places/events as Travis Park, the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon, Alamo Ice House, and Bobby J’s Old Fashioned Burgers. Vanessa Lynn primarily performs country music covers but she has begun a shift in performing her own original music. "We are currently recording our self-titled album “Flyaway'. Our first single “We’re All Lovin’ Life” is available on iTunes, Spotify, and ReverbNation, and we have 10 more songs lined up to record". Young Guns is always interested on where or how a band comes up with their name. So we asked Vanessa Lynn what was the origin of Flyaway? "My drummer and I were outside one day trying to decide on a band name and we saw a bird take off from a tree branch. We both shouted out "Flyaway!" at the same time." Vanessa Lynn also had the experience of trying out for American Idol in 2012 and The Voice in 2013 and 2014. She says that in her music journey she has had the opportunity to meet many talented musicians and bands and has been fortunate enough to have been invited by them to make guest appearances with them. To date she has performed with The South Texas Review, The Geronimo Band, and The Anthony Wright Band at Texas Pride BBQ, The Stetson Bar, Two Step Restaurant and Cantina, The Hanging Tree Saloon, and Boho Bites. Asked what her aspirations were with her music she replied: "I have the highest of aspirations as a musician. I’m pretty sure we all want to be touring stars playing on the radio. However, I feel that I’m already living my dream, even though that hasn’t happened to me quite yet. My guitarist Tim Bailey telling me “That’s a good song, Vanny,” as he fist bumps me, the sound of a crowd clapping along at a show, or my friend telling me that a new song I wrote gave her chills… all these things make me feel like I’m already living my dream, and I can’t wait for each new step...but right now our focus is on getting our full album recorded so we can share our music with more people. We will continue playing the local San Antonio scene, but our sights are on bigger venues, festivals, and benefit concerts. We have a fun song for our Texas fans that we're planning to release right before summer, and we have some creative ideas on how we're going to promote it."" Young Guns is confident that we will be hearing a lot more from Vanessa Lynn in the near future. If you ever have the opportunity to make one of her performances it would be well worth your time to hear this up and coming artist. It’s not often that you come across a multi-talented individuals who possesses both intellect and artistic creation. Dr. John Hall is one of those rare talented individuals who is able to combine both the science and artistic sides of the brain well. He has a keen ear for music, an artistic eye for film and an intense love for medical science. A native of San Antonio, John comes from humble beginnings being the son of a San Antonio Police Officer and being raised on the South Side of San Antonio graduating from South San High School. He has long been a musician singer/song writer and performed with numerous local bands in his youth. His latest band, StickHorse Rodeo, has a unique sound and blend of Texas Hill Country music combined with some blues. John and his band have released some of their music on iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, and Amazon. In addition he has released two music videos that can be found on YouTube: “Mystery” and his latest video release “Father’s Day” which was written by John in memory of his father’s passing in 2014. In addition to his music, John is also an accomplished writer. He has authored two best-selling books. “A New Breed” and “Guinea Pigs” both of which deal with the ever-growing surveillance state. His writings have caught national attention and the interest of The Discovery Channel which filmed a soon to be released pilot starring him entitled: “Targeted”. Targeted propelled him into both the world of acting and producing. A feature film based on his book A New Breed has also been slated to be filmed in San Antonio in the near future with the Trailer already being released on YouTube. One would think that the filming of such projects would be a great challenge for a musician and book writer but John also has experience as an actor who has appeared on several commercials. John credits his friends’ actor Bill Mixon and actor/producer Mike Murehead with being supportive and influential in his recent film endeavors.

It was his 8th grade teacher at Dwight Middle School who he credits in peaking his interest in becoming a medical doctor. He pursued his undergraduate degree majoring in biology at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Upon graduation, he continued on to medical school at The University of North Texas Health Science Center in FT Worth, Texas and completed his residency in anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve Care System in Ohio. He returned to San Antonio in 1996 to start what would become a very busy pain medicine practice and has a global clientele in stem cell therapy through the institute he co-founded, The Stem Cell Orthopedic Institute of Texas.
As one can imagine, managing a medical practice, performing music, writing music and books and filming keep him extremely busy. However in his rare off time you’ll find him hunting, fishing, working out, and playing with his many exotic pets. Young Guns Music Magazine wishes Dr. Hall the very best in all his endeavors and looks forward to viewing his upcoming films. We’ll certainly be following up with him in the near future.
