Do you know your rights and responsibilities under the law? While you may not be a lawyer, it is important to understand the law and how it affects you. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certified Professional (SHRM-CPSM) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCPSM) credentials are the new standard for HR professionals. Clinical Massage Therapy
Enhance your skills in therapeutic healing with our non-credit Clinical Massage Therapy Program. This comprehensive program offers 694 contact hours of hand-on training and in-depth theoretical knowledge, preparing students to excel in clinical environments. Participants will learn various modalities with a major curriculum of anatomy and physiology; clinical massage theory and practice; allied modalities; statutes and history of massage; business practice, ethics, pathology, and CPR, all designed to support health and wellness.
Enrollment Requirements:
• Must Provide evidence of High School Diploma, GED, or college degree
• SLED background check
• Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks: Massage therapists perform a range of physical tasks that require both strength and endurance. They spend significant time on their feet, moving around the massage table to access different parts of the client’s body. Using their hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, and sometimes feet, they apply pressure, knead muscles, and perform a variety of massage techniques to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and improve circulation. These movements often require strong hand and wrist muscles, as well as precise control to vary pressure and technique. Proper body mechanics are essential to prevent strain, so massage therapists rely on core strength, good posture, and flexibility to avoid injury and sustain their practice. Massage Therapist may need to reposition clients and set up equipment, which involves lifting and bending.
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (Hybrid)
Medical billers and coders play a vital role in the connection between healthcare providers, patients and insurance companies. As a medical biller and coder, you will read patient charts to determine medical history, including diagnoses and treatment, and follow established medical codes to transcribe patient history into a type of “shorthand” used by both healthcare providers and insurance companies. This 108-hour course covers medical terminology with anatomy and physiology and the medical vocabulary system. You will learn the International Classification of Diseases, Current Procedural Terminology and Healthcare Common Procedures Coding System codes that are essential for working with medical records, patient billing, insurance forms, procedures and admitting. You will also gain knowledge of the health insurance industry, legal and regulatory issues, and differences in reimbursement methodologies. Certification exam included.
Nursing Assistant
Nursing assistants and aides are in great demand. These critical positions are also a great place to start a career in healthcare. You can prepare to become a nurse aide with this comprehensive 112-hour course approved by the SC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). You will receive training in basic nursing care through classroom lectures and simulated lab care.
This course prepares you to take the Nurse Aide Competency Exam. Proof of High School Diploma or GED is required to register, and students must take CPR prior to registering for this course. Potential students must also meet with the YTC Program Coordinator at least 30 days before the start of class to obtain a binder of pre-requisites.
Phlebotomy Technician
This 80-hour, non-credit course will prepare you for a career as a phlebotomist in a medical laboratory, hospital, or doctor’s office setting. Discover how to obtain blood specimens through primary phlebotomy techniques to facilitate collection and testing, and gain knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system. Medical terminology prefixes, suffixes and abbreviations will be reviewed as well as valuable customer service skills. Also included is an optional national certification exam, which you may choose to take upon successful course completion.
Proof of High School Diploma or GED is required to register. This course includes a clinical rotation which may be conducted in a healthcare facility. Students agree to adhere to the requirements of the healthcare facility which may include, but not be limited to, background checks, health screenings, and vaccinations. There may also be some additional fees associated with those requirements that are not covered in the tuition of this program.
CPR & FIRST AID
Basic Life Support Provider (CPR/AED)
In this instructor-led course, you will learn both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), and team dynamics. You will participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations, working with an AHA BLS instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing and finish the course by completing a written exam.
Basic Life Support Hands-on Skills Check
American Heart Association (AHA) blended learning courses combine the flexibility of online training with in-person skills practice and testing. Your hands-on portion will include a skills practice and testing session conducted in-person with an AHA Basic Life Support or Heartsaver instructor. Upon successful completion, you will receive a completion card valid for two years. This 1-hour class is for those who have completed the AHA Basic Life Support online course, but need to pass the skills check for certification.
Students must bring certification of course completion to class in order to receive skill check-off. The online written portion is available at the American Heart Association e-learning website at www.onlineaha.org. (There is a $34.00 fee)
DRIVER SAFETY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Basic Motorcycle Safety
A blend of classroom instruction and range riding, the MRA New Rider Course delivers the basics of motorcycle operation in Harley-Davidson® style. Learn in a relaxed, supportive environment from instructors certified by both the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and Harley-Davidson® . After passing written and riding skills evaluations, you will receive an MSF Rider Course Completion Card that may qualify you for insurance discounts. You will also be qualified to take the SC skills test, and you will receive a SC waiver form to submit to the SCDMV to complete your motorcycle endorsement.
If you live outside of South Carolina, the class will not waive your rider test to get a license in your state. Check with the DMV in your state of residence.
All participants will need a valid Motorcycle Learner’s Permit with a current address. You will not be admitted to the class without a learner’s permit, or if your permit is expired. Please see the course listing on our website for a full list of requirements.
Defensive Driving
Established by the National Safety Council and the SC Department of Highway Public Transportation, this 8-hour course will teach valuable defensive driving techniques. Classes are presented in lectures, videos and classroom demonstrations. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to remove up to four points (except DUI) on a SC driver’s license, including CDL. Taking this class may also reduce your insurance costs. For point reduction, you should verify that points are already showing on your driving record prior to registering. This course may be completed for a 4-point credit only once every three years.
You must provide your driver’s license number and state to register.
**Drivers outside of South Carolina must check with your state DMV to ensure that your state will honor this course.**
Driver Training Instructor Course
Would you like to become a driving instructor or operate a driver training school? The York Technical College Driver Training Instructor Course is qualified by the SC Department of Motor Vehicles to provide state required driving instructor education. This hybrid course combines 32 hours of online learning, eight hours of classroom instruction, and a minimum of six hours of behind-the-wheel training. You must also pass a written exam to complete the course successfully.
Registrants must be at least 21 years of age, of good moral character, hold a valid South Carolina Driver’s License, have no record of suspension of driving priveledges for moving violations for the past three years, and have at least five years of driving experience.
Advanced EMT - Hybrid
The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic and limited advanced medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight and perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. They are the link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
EMT Basic
Emergency medical technicians, also known as first responders, are in great demand. You can start a rewarding career as an EMT with just three to six months of training. EMT’s work in a variety of settings, including county emergency services departments, private ambulance and transport companies and hospitals. This course prepares you to take the National Registry exam.
Per Department of Health and Environmental Control regulations, college-level math and reading skills are required to register for this course. Potential EMT students must present copies of proof to be submitted to DHEC prior to registering.

CQE Virtual Refresher Course for ASQ Exam
This 48-hour instructor-led WebEx course is a refresher study using the 2022 body of knowledge for the ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification exam. Topics include management and leadership, the quality system, product, process, and service design, product and process control, testing and measurement, continuous improvement, quantitative methods, statistical tools and applications, and risk management. Students will focus on the theory and application of these skills by studying the assigned materials and taking sample exams. CQE participants must register with ASQ headquarters to take the ASQ certification exam.

Forklift Operator Training
Gain the skills and knowledge to become a certified forklift operator In this 8-hour course, you will receive instruction on OSHA’s Powered industrial Truck Standard (OSHA Standard 1910.178) for the safe operation and care of forklift equipment. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a three-year forklift certification.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (LSSGB)
During this 80-hour (live, virtual Webex) non-credit class, students will learn Lean Six Sigma concepts that can be applied to all types of processes from transactional, service, and manufacturing. Class material is designed to show students how to use Minilab to perform statistical calculations and simulations.
OSHA 10 General Industry
Learn to recognize workplace hazards and OSHA Safety Standards for job sites. This 10-hour course is designed for entry-level workers and covers general industry safety and health principles, OSHA regulations and requirement, and general industry standards. You will learn to identify the most hazardous areas of job sites, using OSHA standards as a guide. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive the OSHA-10 Hour General Industry wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI).
OSHA 30 General Industry
This 30-hour general industrial training program is intended to provide workers with some safety responsibility with a greater depth and variety of training. All outreach training is intended to provide an overview of the hazards a worker may encounter on a job site. Training emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, not OSHA standards. Students who successfully complete the course receive an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute.

York Technical College’s Utility Line Worker program helps to prepare students for careers in the utility industry via specialized training with the tools and equipment required for safe installation and repair of underground and overhead utilities including telecommunications, information technology, water, sewer infrastructure, and electrical.
Utility Line Worker
Utility Line Worker prepares students in tool usage and safety, electrical computations, fundamental concepts of electricity, basic principles of electrical power systems, pole climbing, and both overhead and underground line installation. Students will be assessed throughout the training in hands-on skill performance, relevant subject area knowledge and safety compliance.
Management With Utility Line Worker Specialization
Management with Utility Line Worker Specialization will provide students with a solid foundation in management focusing on functions pertaining to planning, decision-making, leadership, and overall organization as well as fundamental core skills in utility line work. Students successfully completing this program should have a strong knowledge of critical management techniques and utility line work skills.

Standard Refund Policy*
If you cannot attend a class as planned and wish to cancel your registration, you must notify York Technical College Workforce and Economic Development Division in writing at ceadmin@yorktech.edu
Refunds will be issued as follows:
Requests made at least 10 business days prior to start of class will be issued a 100% refund.
Requests made between 5 and 10 business days prior to class start will be charged a $25 service fee.
There will be NO REFUND issued on any requests made less than 5 business days prior to class start.
Refunds will be processed based on the original form of payment.

CEU Credit
Students who satisfactorily complete occupational skills courses receive a certificate of completion and Continuing Education Units (CEU) as appropriate. One CEU is awarded for every ten contact hours of a course.
Financial Aid
Funding for non-credit programs is available on a limited basis. For more information on available funding, contact the Workforce and Economic Development Department at (803) 325-2888.
Course Date Change
If you wish to move your registration to a different date, you must notify York Technical College Workforce and Economic Development Division in writing at ceadmin@yorktech.edu at least five business days prior to the first day of class. Requests for date changes will be made on a first come, first served basis based on seat availability. Requests for date changes with less than 5 days notice will result in forfeiture of the registration fee.
If the College is forced to cancel a course for any reason, enrolled students will be provided the option to transfer to a later date without penalty or to receive a full refund.
NOTE: Some certificate programs may have a non-refundable seating fee which applies to each instance of registration.
ONLINE COURSE OPTIONS
York Technical College has partnered with ProTrain to offer online training with flexible anytime, anywhere learning.
All of these courses are self-paced, so you can start your training immediately and move at your own pace until completion. Most programs can be completed within 4 to 6 months after you register but you are given plenty of time to complete them if needed.
BUSINESS AND LEADERSHIP HEALTHCARE AND ALLIED HEALTH
Adobe Creative Cloud Bundle
The Adobe Creative Cloud Bundle has the design tools to bring your ideas from conception to works of art. This course covers Concepts of Photoshop, Animate, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere. Students will need a copy of the associated Adobe Creative Cloud software in order to follow along with the course.
AutoCAD Fundamentals Certificate
This Certificate training program covers all aspects of 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design with the latest versions of AutoCAD. It also includes an introduction to basic 3D modeling concepts ensuring you will have a sound fundamental understanding of both 2D and 3D skills for working with AutoCAD. Students will be able to receive a free copy of the latest version AutoCAD from Autodesk at the time of enrollment.
Certified Wedding Planner Program
This course is designed to give people new to the industry a solid education in the art and science of wedding planning and wedding business. The complete program will take you through Etiquette for Wedding Professionals, Wedding Business Basics, Wedding Etiquette, Planning and Consulting, Service Providers, and Rehearsal to Reception.
CIW Web Security Associate
This course teaches you how to secure your network from unauthorized activity. You will learn about security principles, such as establishing an effective security policy as well as the most common hacker activities you will encounter. Individuals with these security skills can pursue or advance careers in many aspects of online and network security.
CompTIA IT A+ 220-1101 and 220-1102
The CompTIA A+ Core Series 220-1101 and 220-1102 exams cover expanded content on growing IT support role including expanded baseline security topics. This certification provides a different approach to define competency in operational procedures including basic disaster prevention, recovery, and scripting basics and a greater dependency on networking and device connectivity.
Life Coach

Technical Writing Fundamentals
This course will focus on skills that employers demand in today’s workplacethinking, listening, composing, revising, and editing. Upon completion, you will have acquired many workplace skills through integrated and applied instruction so that mastering technical writing is relevant and exciting.
Medical Administrative Assistant
Various health care providers depend on administrative professionals for day-to-day administrative office procedures in order to operate efficiently. This course will teach administrative duties required by front office personnel and will prepare you to take the AMCA Medical Administrative Assistant Certification OR the NHA Medical Administrative Assistant.
Medical Administrative Assistant Master
This course takes the Medical Administrative Assistant course to the next level by adding medical billing and coding instruction. Upon completion, you will be prepared to take the AMCA Medical Administrative Assistant Certification OR NHA Medical Administrative Assistant AND the AMCA Medical Coder & Biller Certification (MCBC), as well as the NHA Medical Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS).
Medical Billing and Coding Specialist
With this program, you will gain hands-on, practical experience working with the main coding manuals in the field, the ICD-10-CM and the CPT. You will also be introduced to ICD-10-CM, as well as master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field. Pharmacy Technician Professional
This program prepares students to be equipped to assist the Pharmacist filling prescriptions according to doctor’s orders. Pharmacy Technicians also participate in ordering products and inventory control, as well as billing and receiving payments. Trained graduates that pass this course are eligible to sit for a national certification exam.
Physical Therapy Technician
This comprehensive course will cover the knowledge, practices, and techniques needed to prepare you for the AMCA Physical Therapy Technician certification exam and satisfy the certification course requirement prior to exam admittance.
