YMCA OF CENTRAL TEXAS 2022 ANNUAL REPORT

GREETINGS FROM THE YMCA OF CENTRAL TEXAS, Whoever said ?it's the journey? not the destination,? might just be on to something. This 2022 YMCA of Central Texas Annual Impact Report celebrates this organizations journey which is full of social impact and community service. One could compare the YMCA?s journey to a never- ending road trip. The stops along the YMCA road, have been as unique and exciting as any roadside attraction found along a traveled route. Whether you measure social impact in miles or number of people served, there is no denying that the YMCA of Central Texas has come a long way and there?s plenty of road ahead. Speaking of miles and road ahead, the YMCA of Central Texas service area now encompasses over 15,000 sq. miles and all the unique service opportunities that exist in those communities. While our YMCA may have a physical presence in cities such as Round Rock, Hutto, Cedar Park, Burnet, Georgetown, and Waco, there are other emerging towns where YMCA services are being offered in partnership with municipalities and school districts. The annual report attempts to paint a picture of the YMCA of Central Texas impact. While participation numbers, financial summaries and dollars raised can illuminate a certain amount, it is the people behind the scenes and along the road who really make the journey special. Thank you to our donors, volunteers and all others who have made this YMCA journey way better than the destination. Sincerely,

JEFF ANDRESEN President /CEO

TOTAL IMPACT Each year our YMCA raises funds that provide Direct Financial Assistance to individuals and groups in need. Volunteerism has been a driving force in the strength and power of our civil society since this country?s founding. The independent sector has announced that the latest value of a volunteer hour is $31.80. This shows the incredible contributions volunteers make in our communities and country. The funds we raised plus the community support by utilizing volunteer leadership lowers the cost of programs and maximizes participation. This number gives us the "big social impact picture."

CHASCO FAMILY YMCA In 2022, the YMCA of Central Texas introduced the Homeschool at the Y program, a unique initiative providing STEAM enrichment classes. Catering to homeschool students and families, the program featured a diverse range of classes such as cooking, science, art, woodworking, nature journaling, and outdoor adventure courses, and more. Over the 8- week session, students not only acquired new skills but also built friendships while developing their interests and passions. Since its inaugural session, the Homeschool at the Y program has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding to 324 students across three YMCA campuses including, the CHASCO Family YMCA, YMCA Camp Round Rock, and YMCA Camp Twin Lakes.

Stepping away from the traditional classroom setup, this program infused an element of fun, interactivity, and engagement into the learning experience for our homeschool students. With new weekly projects and lessons, the program has successfully reached and impacted a broader spectrum of the community, establishing the YMCA of Central Texas's commitment to serving homeschool families in our community. GEORGETOWN FAMILY YMCA The collaboration between the Georgetown YMCA and the Mary Bailey Head Start program in 2022 has been a testament to the commitment to community well- being and engagement. Serving as the official physical fitness partner, the Georgetown YMCA has played a vital role in enhancing the health and wellness of 50 Head Start families throughout the year. Through weekly onsite activities, the YMCA has created a supportive environment, fostering a sense of community and encouraging healthy lifestyles among participants. In the month of May, the partnership reached new heights as over 200 YMCA Afterschool participants and Head Start students joined forces for a memorable experience at the Southwestern University swimming pool for our Swim Safe program.

This collaborative initiative provided an opportunity for both groups to come together, promoting social interaction and water safety skills. Our Swim Safe program incorporated basic water safety education, ensuring that participants not only enjoyed the pool but also acquired essential life skills in a fun and engaging manner. GREATER WACO YMCA In 2022, the Greater Waco YMCA made significant strides in providing diverse and engaging enrichment programming, particularly in their efforts to educate and inspire young minds. Through their STEAM classes, the YMCA impacted 154 children ranging from ages 3 to 12. These classes were designed to integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in a dynamic and interactive manner. Participants enjoyed a range of activities, including soap- making, sewing, aquaponics, and robotics. The fun doesn't stop there! Our Active Older Adult community also had the opportunity to participate in

enriching programs and venture on month trips across Texas. Taking 42 seniors on various excursions, such as the Van Gogh Experience, Steam Train rides, and visits to the Gaylord Texan for Ice, demonstrates the YMCA's dedication to promoting an active and vibrant lifestyle for our active older adults through these well- curated events. By organizing monthly activities, the YMCA not only provided opportunities for seniors to explore new cities and attractions but also created a platform for building meaningful friendships within the senior community. The Greater Waco YMCA's programming in 2022 showcased a dual commitment to the intellectual development of young minds and the social well- being of older adults.

Y AFTERSCHOOL & PRESCHOOL AT THE Y In 2022, the Red Dirt Concert Series, proudly presented by Cornerstone Site Services, LLC, marked its inaugural year as a meaningful event benefiting the YMCA of Central Texas Y Afterschool program. The primary focus was to raise funds to provide scholarships for after school programming, guaranteeing a safe and secure environment for children after the school bell rings. The event featured acoustic performances by renowned artists Shane Smith and the Saints, as well as Whiskey Myers. With a remarkable turnout of 500 attendees, the concert successfully raised $78,000, making a tangible impact on the lives of 200 families within the community. Beyond the Red Dirt Concert Series, the Y's commitment to community enrichment continued with the Y Afterschool Art show. This event invited students from Y afterschool programs across Central Texas to showcase

their artistic talents across various genres. The art show not only provided a platform for self- expression but also fostered a sense of accomplishment and recognition for the young artists. A Banquet was organized to celebrate their achievements, where their artwork was displayed and celebrated. The Y Afterschool Art show raised $10,000, with 120 attendees present. These funds directly benefited 50 families and provided after school care for their students. The Red Dirt Concert Series and the Y Afterschool Art show in 2022 reflects a dual commitment to both entertainment and education within the community. These initiatives not only provided a platform for artistic expression and musical enjoyment but also generated substantial funds to support scholarships and services for families in need.

YMCA CAMP TWIN LAKES Great summers start at the Y and the YMCA of Central Texas is proud to offer a variety of indoor and outdoor camps across our association. Two of those camps include outdoor camp, YMCA Camp Twin Lakes, and YMCA Camp Brightwell. The summer of 2022 was a blast and many fun memories were made out under the Texas sun. YMCA Camp Brightwell successfully established its own camper legacies and traditions, with the Annual "Camp Was A Flip" Family Pancake Breakfast to close out the summer festivities. This innovative camp tradition has become a cherished event where families gather across tables to meet their campers' new besties and their families. The breakfast fosters a sense of camaraderie as attendees share inside camp jokes, laugh together, and reminisce about a summer well- lived at Camp Brightwell.

The initiative has garnered support from community leaders and YMCA volunteers, with 20 dedicated volunteers contributing 5 hours each to serve 250 people, ensuring the success of this heartwarming tradition. Over at YMCA Camp Twin Lakes, the Camp Carnival has evolved into an unforgettable experience with lasting impacts. In 2022, the camp families demonstrated their commitment to supporting CTL's mission by raising an impressive $15,000 during Camp Carnival Week. These funds were earmarked for camper scholarships in the following summer, making the camp experience accessible to all. The community impact was substantial, as the funds raised enabled scholarships for one week of Day Camp for 125 campers in 2023.
