Expanding Facilities, Growing Communities
YMCA of Central Texas FromPlans to Progress: Expanding Programs and Facilities for Growing Communities
At the YMCA of Central Texas we believe what our Ydoes is good Our programs and services make a difference in the quality of life for those who participate? and that is good So, why would we not want to do as much good as possible?
If that?s the case, then, what does it take to do more good?
Well, there are probably a number of correct answers when it comes to that question We are not sure that we can give you all the answers, however, when it comes to doing more good the YMCA of Central Texas way, we feel fairly certain that we can provide a little local insight
First and foremost, a YMCA that is committed to do more good must be led by volunteers and staff who have an absolute passion to serve others Serving others is a calling for those who love doing Y work? think Forrest Gump, think peas and carrots? think whatever makes you realize that good Y people love to serve others Furthermore, the leadership of the YMCA must believe without a shadow of a doubt that YMCA programs and services truly make a difference Simply put, if YMCA programs like swimlessons , camp, Gymnastics, wellness classes and afterschool care are ?good?, why wouldn? t leadership want to serve as many people as we can? ...you don? t need to answer that, it is rhetorical, and the proof is on the faces of the thousands of people we serve every week. . It is this belief, and the passion to serve, that drives YMCA leaders to do more good, but that is only part of the answer
Next, in order to ?do more good,?there must be a way for YMCA leaders to help break down any financial barriers that would preclude anyone fromparticipation in YMCA activities This usually requires a culture of philanthropic support where Y leaders exemplify the values of the organizations commitment to ?turn no one away?and set the example for community giving. YMCA?s, where leadership is recognized for setting the pace, have the ability to leverage tremendous social impact which is then transformed into financial aid for those who wish to participate in Yactivities but cannot afford to do so
Finally, YMCA leadership must be committed to providing the highest quality of services. This commitment requires modern, safe facilities, equipment, and outdoor spaces that accommodate the YMCA service delivery plan Everyone deserves quality services
Expanding community service and partnering in the economic growth in rural areas add another level of challenge to ?doing more good ?YMCA leaders who find ways to bring YMCA activities to emerging and underserved areas truly engage ?other?partners who believe ?doing more good together?might be the only way to quickly bring quality of life amenities to those communities where core services dominate the use of public funds. The YMCA of Central Texas is proud to partner with local municipalities and community partners who share this vision
This YMCA of 2023 Central Texas?Annual Report is proof that when there is a will to do more good, there is ultimately a way. We want to thank each and every one of our donors, sponsors, partners, members, participants and staff who help us to successfully ?do more good?each and every day. We look forward to continuing to serve our communities with our current and future partners in ?doing more good ?
Sincerely,
Jeff Andresen President /CEO YMCA of Central Texas
Gregg Miller Chairman YMCA of Central Texas Metro Board of Directors
Each year our YMCA raises funds that provide Direct Financial Assistance to individuals and groups in need Volunteerismhas been a driving force in the strength and power of our civil society since this country?s founding The independent sector has announced that the latest value of a volunteer hour is $33 49 This shows the incredible contributions volunteers make in our communities and country The funds we raised plus the community support by utilizing volunteer leadership lowers the cost of programs and maximizes participation This number gives us the "big social impact picture."

In 2023, we proudly introduced the Anne Cano Legacy Award, celebrating the love, passion, and spirit of the YMCA that Anne embodied every day A longtime member of the Hutto Family YMCA, Anne was a familiar face in our Active Older Adult classes, regularly participating in Silver Sneakers and Silver Splash
Anne had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, creating a sense of belonging for all who crossed her path Beyond her involvement at the Y, Anne was deeply committed to the Hutto community She served on the Hutto City Council (2009-2017) and the Hutto Economic Development Board (2008-2017), and continued her service on the Williamson County ESD#3 Board and the Hutto Chamber Board. In 2022, Anne was honored with the Ed Schmidt Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hutto Chamber of Commerce, recognizing her unwavering dedication to giving back
We were honored to present the inaugural Anne Cano Legacy Award to Anne's family at our Inspirational Luncheon. With members like Anne, we build a legacy and leave a lasting impact on our community Each year, we will continue to recognize members who follow in her footsteps, upholding her spirit of service and commitment

In 2023, the YMCA of the Highland Lakes proudly launched the first annual Fall Festival, marking the beginning of a new seasonal tradition for Burnet and its surrounding communities This exciting, free event was packed with family-friendly activities such as pumpkin decorating, thrilling carnival rides, face painting, and much more It was more than just a day of fun? it was a chance to connect with neighbors and create lasting memories
The festival wouldn? t have been possible without the involvement of local businesses, school districts, and our dedicated partners, including the Burnet Fire Department, who added an extra layer of excitement Their participation helped build a stronger sense of unity and collaboration across our community. Watching families and community members come together to celebrate and enjoy these shared experiences was truly a pleasure, reaffirming the YMCA's role as a central hub for connection and fellowship
We are committed to creating more than just events? we are building traditions that strengthen the community. As this event continues to grow in future years, we look forward to welcoming even more families, local organizations, and partners
