Armine, who goes by Armush, is from a small village near the capital of Armenia. She’s always loved soccer and joined a team as a teenager. Her coach happened to be a Young Life leader and invited her to Young Life club where she was impressed by the atmosphere of acceptance and friendliness.

Today she is an active volunteer leader and her favorite part of the ministry is contact work. In addition to sports, Armush enjoys playing the guitar and leading worship.

With the help of the Developing Global Leaders program, Armush is realizing her dream of becoming a soccer coach-educator and working with kids.

I started smoking, drinking alcohol and using drugs at a very young age. When I was 16, it turned into a serious addiction and my life was a nightmare. My relatives sent me to a Christian center for rehabilitation where I heard about Christ, studied the Word, and listened to worship. After rehab, I was given the opportunity to serve at Young Life Capernaum camp for children with special needs. That was my first introduction to Young Life and at camp I made a firm decision to dedicate my life to the service of God. I live in a small village where I have started a new Young Life team and dream of further developing this region. As a Developing Global Leaders scholarship recipient, I am studying at a theological seminary.

Because I live in a predominately Muslim country, I need a diploma to officially become a church pastor.

I met Jesus at Young Life camp when I was fifteen years old. I had a great friend who was a Young Life leader who convinced my parents that I should go. After camp, my friend taught me more about God and the Bible.

I met Jesus after losing my dad. It was my most vulnerable moment where I came to even wonder if God existed. I struggled how to calm the war in my head and all my anger. It was at that moment when a friend invited me to a bonfire with some guys from a ministry called Young Life. In my desperation to get out and not stay locked in my room, I decided to go. When I arrived, they welcomed me with joy and I was amazed at how they knew my name and talked to me.

When everyone started singing around the bonfire, it was like all the weight fell off me and I felt God’s presence like never before. Later I went to Young Life camp where I decided to follow Jesus and leave all that weight and my life of addictions. I live with my mother and my twin brother in the small community of Granada. We are a very close family. As a DGL student, I’m studying international business.

I was born of a Muslim father and a Christian mother. I was raised as a Muslim and learned all the ways of the religion; I used to sneak to go visit my mum and spend time with her. When my dad found out about this, I was sent to live with my mother. My dad cut all the ties that I had with him and I solely depended on my mother for everything.

I dedicated my time to studying the word of God and participating in church activities. It is through the daily communion with Christ that the burden of my father’s rejection was lifted and I was able to forgive him. I was introduced to my Young Life leader through the church and I marvel in serving God through loving kids.

My name is Gloria and I live with my aunt and uncle, cousins and siblings. My mum was a peasant and she struggled to pay for our basic needs and schooling, but my uncle took us into his home to help pay for our school fees. In high school, I lost my mother; l was broken. I couldn't imagine losing my mother on top of all of the suffering I had endured. Life without biological parents is unbearable at times, even when you have guidance. I had to learn to be strong and press on with the knowledge that Christ was with me always.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying business and will become the first in my family to graduate from university. I hope to be a woman who will inspire others and change someone's story. My mother raised me as a single mom and things were not easy for us. I had no hope for a future education after high school. I used to hold onto bitterness against my father because he abandoned us, but through the Young Life ministry, I was moved to ask God to help me forgive him. God has now given me love for others, including my father.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying procurement and supply chain management at the University for Development Studies in Nyakpala, Ghana. I want to become a procurement officer in an organization for Ghana health services. I also want to use this opportunity to tell my friends about God’s great love and to continue to grow as a Young Life leader in my community.

"Solo" is a faithful young man from Mali. Orphaned from a young age, he and his three younger brothers were cared for by their grandparents until he was given the opportunity to live and go to school at a mentor’s orphanage and then adopted.

Solo accepted Jesus while living under the care of his adopted mother. Grateful for what his mother did for him, he shares, “I want to be the person by whom God exercises his justice of love towards the voiceless and powerless people in my community.”

Now a Developing Global Leader he shares, “I want to be an example to others of a man of God and help my community flourish.”

My name is Rose and I come from a Muslim family. I am the second born of eight children and our parents separated when I was young.

For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from a skin rash and can’t find the right medical help to cure it. One day I met a Young Life leader who invited me to club. At first, my family did not want me to go, but they finally came to accept it and I managed to go to camp.

Everything changed at camp; I changed spiritually and decided with one heart to accept Christ. I was actually baptized at camp.

Today, I serve with all my heart and help other young people know they are loved by God. As a Developing Global Leader, my vision for the future is to have a job in the hospitality industry that will help me support my society. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.

When I was 16 I attended my first Young Life camp where I felt an atmosphere like never before. Everyone was so happy and showed love towards each other despite coming from different backgrounds.

I heard the Word in a way I never thought was possible. The leaders shared the Gospel in a fun, compelling way and I connected to the Lord like never before. After camp, I followed in my sister’s footsteps and became involved in Young Life as a club kid and now a leader where I do everything I can to go where kids are and invite them into full life.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying computer engineering. My vision for my future is to become financially independent and to establish my own firm that specializes in computer repair in different locations in my country.

I am the youngest of four boys. I love my family so much! Sometimes we are troublemakers, but we love our parents very much. We live in I’billin, Israel, and in our culture, we stay living together as one family even when we are married.

I grew up as a Christian kid, but I started living a new life with Jesus after going to Bible study with Young Life. I grew to understand that the Bible is more than just a story, but it's about living a different life with Jesus.

My name is Jiya, I live in India with my mother and my four sisters.

When I was nine my dad separated from us. Later, my mother got sick. Also, living in a slum area, gaining an education as an underresourced young girl was nearly impossible. Feeling alone from not experiencing the love of a father, I considered giving up hope. It was then that I met Jesus through my sister and the tables of my life turned completely. I found the purpose of my life, my heavenly Father, and His love changed everything.

I was introduced to Young Life by my aunt and uncle, who are Young Life leaders, when they invited me to Young Life club and ski camp.

During that camp, the pastor made a call to surrender our lives to Jesus and it was at that moment that I made the decision to follow Him. I started reading my Bible and praying regularly. God completely transformed me, and I am now a volunteer leader for Young Life in my city.

I am studying psychology and I want to work as a neuropsychologist in a hospital or research institution. I am dyslexic and have dysorthography and many people did not think I could reach this level of education. However, I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.

I have always been musically inclined ... I took piano, violin, and voice lessons all through school. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve taken an interest in composing, writing all sorts of music, from singer songwriter to string quartets.

As a Young Life Developing Global Leader, I’ve started helping in the music department with a band club at our local high school. I’m able to use my musical abilities to reach out to these students, but the conversations I'm having with them before are actually more encouraging than the actual practice itself.

I’m grateful to be able to continue studying music in university and my hope is to have a career in the music industry, composing in some capacity.

The first time I heard about Young Life, I had no idea what to expect.

I was hesitant because I thought it would be boring music, boring people, and a boring event. I could not have been more wrong. I agreed to go to camp and there I heard the Good News. Jesus changed my life and I found new confidence. My vision for ministry is to invite as many people as I possibly can to come hear the Good News about the love of God. Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying hospitality and tourism at Cebu Eastern College. I want to grow in my leadership and communication skills and continue to serve in Young Life.
