Harry’s Kitchen is a fun and contemporary design for a children’s baking school. The children enter this magical wonderland with an idea and leave with new skills, new experiences, and a cake to take home. The design features story like graphics of the forest and fictional animals and the furniture also mimics this concept. With the success and popularity of the first store in K11 Art Mall, Shanghai, there are now many located around Shanghai & Beijing.

FLOWER ART INCUBATOR

AN ADAPTIVE REUSE DESIGN FOR A WAREHOUSE FALL 2015 | PROFESSOR WILLIAM DORAN

SECTION A-A 8

SECTION B-B

The flower art incubator is a partial reconstruction of an old warehouse in Mid City, Baton Rouge. The goal of the project is to reuse the abundant space and to attract people to visit Mid City. On the first floor of the building is the artists work space, and on the second floor is the exhibition space. The concept develops from if people put seeds in the soil ( in the first floor space), flowers grow up to the second floor.

LOG ART CENTER

A CORRIDOR BETWEEN PUBLIC SPACE AND PRIVATE SPACE FALL 2015 | PROFESSOR WILLIAM DORAN

10

The Log Art Center focused on building an art corridor on Wabash Ave, in Chicago. The project connected to Columbia College and created a new train station. Chicago, for me, is a big art forest, and the art corridor is a branch of that forest. The special art exhibition tube in the middle of the project offers a unique exhibition space.

MORGAN CITY 50/50/2050

REGISTERING CHANGE / ACCOMMODATING EX CHANGE SPRING 2016 | PROFESSOR CATHERINE BONIER

12

Morgan City is a historical city with rich cultural traditions. People come from all over to enjoy authentic Cajun food and to participate in annual festivals. During the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival as it now exists, events take place in a limited area. Therefore, the focus was to design a central tourist center to climb over the levee, joining one of the city’s main streets with the Atchafalaya River front. The design also incorporates a new public transportation system and ferry stops to improve Morgan City’s accessibility to tourists and residents alike.

JUTURNA EDUCATION CENTER

OFFERING ROMAN RUINS A NEW POSSIBILITY FALL 2016 | PROFESSOR ANDREW KRANIS

16

The Juturna Education Center is a place where old meets new, locals mix with foreigners, and technology and tradition collaborate. In the education center, the old ways are taught in new spaces, built with respect for the palimpsest of ancient ones. The ruins of the Temple of Juturna will be covered with soaring glass panels and will be used as the crowning jewel of the center as an exhibition space. A new, below-grade structure wraps around the Temple and becomes the classrooms for education and cultural exchange. Old meets new in multi-function architecture with a sunken piazza and a rooftop garden - the garden of Juturna - paying tribute to the goddess of natural springs.

A TEMPLE FOR THE SWAMP MONSTER

AN IMAGINATION OF A STORY AND TRADITIONAL TECHNOLOGY SPRING 2015 | DOCTOR JASON CROW

20

Traditional architecture technology is the foundation of modern architecture. By developing the story for the Louisiana Honey Island Swamp Monster, the design was developed by conducting research of traditional architecture machines and European architecture. The whole fabrication process was developed by modern technology including 3d printing and laser cutting technology.
