Support Independent Living Perth

If you need significant help at home, you may be eligible for SIL. This support is offered through the National Disability Insurance Scheme and can include 24/7 assistance. It can be provided in shared accommodation homes or on your own.

Our SIL services are personalised to your goals and needs. We consider things like where your friends and family live, whether you will get along with housemates and whether your new environment is suitable for you.

SIL

SIL, or Support Independent Living Perth, is a type of home and living support offered by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This funding can be used for residential accommodation in shared homes with a disability support team. The SIL support staff help you with daily tasks and build your independence. Depending on your needs, this could include cooking, washing, cleaning, and personal care.

SIL can be a great way to live independently, with in-house support staff available 24/7 to help you with all your needs. However, there are a few things to consider before you apply. First, it’s important to understand how SIL works and how it differs from other types of home and living support.

The NDIS will only approve SIL if it meets your eligibility criteria and is considered reasonable and necessary. To find out more about if you’re eligible, speak with your NDIS planner or NDIS Support Coordinator. They can help you understand what your options are and work with you to develop a roster of care submission.

Shared accommodation

If you’re looking for accommodation that can offer you the independence of living alone, shared housing may be the solution for you. Shared accommodation involves renting a room in someone else’s house or flat and sharing the amenities. It’s a great way to meet new people and make friends. It can also be a cheaper option if you are struggling to find affordable housing.

Some people choose to live in a shared apartment with a group of people they know. This is an attractive option because it comes with a built-in social network and a sense of security. However, this type of living can be stressful if the residents don’t get along.

The Independent Living Centre of WA provides unbiased information and advice, assessment funding and equipment hire services for Western Australians with disability. These include ILC disability equipment grants, Noah’s Ark WA and occupational therapy driver assessments. The Centre also offers training sessions on specialised assistive technology and communication devices.

Supported living homes

A supported living home is a house or apartment that is modified to help a person with disabilities live more independently. It can be designed to accommodate a variety of needs, including physical accessibility and access to the community. This type of housing is not the same as residential care, which is more suited to people who need around-the-clock support.

In addition, environmental modifications can be made to the property to help a person move about and maintain independence. These can include ramps, widening doorways, and handrails. These modifications can improve the quality of life for a person and reduce risk.

While supportive living communities are often filled with elderly people, they can also be used for younger people who need support. These communities offer a range of services, such as meals, laundry, and transportation. They are also often located close to medical care facilities for convenience. Some provide around-the-clock healthcare staff and others do not.

NDIS funding

NDIS participants can get SIL funding from their plan to assist them with day-to-day tasks like handling money, cooking, cleaning and personal care. These services are personalised and tailored to each individual’s needs. SIL can also be used to help build new relationships and social skills with other people.

The NDIA can also help participants with accommodation support. This includes home modifications to make a participant’s own home safer and more accessible. It can also provide short term and long term disability accommodation to help participants learn new skills.

Self-managing your NDIS funding gives you control, independence and flexibility in arranging and paying for your supports. You can choose what you purchase in line with your plan goals, who provides the service and how they deliver it. You can also see how your provider claims against your core budget in myplace. However, you cannot use your Core budget to pay for any RATs that are labelled as ‘stated supports’ in your plan.
