Having a healthy lifestyle is important for independent living. It involves eating well, getting exercise and managing your health. It also includes keeping your home and the community safe. SCSS can teach you to cook healthy meals, manage budgets, shopping and other daily tasks.
We have developed a ‘world ready’ skills program that strategically moves young people towards independence, this can include (but is not limited to): personal hygiene, money management, cooking, household management, accessing and maintaining income support (Centrelink), community/transport access and developing an understanding of rights and safety.

The ability to manage household chores and responsibilities is an important part of building independence. We can help with planning and decision-making, as well as teaching practical skills such as cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, folding laundry and money management.
We can support young people to develop a plan that strategically moves them towards independent living. This includes identifying 'world ready' skills and assisting with developing those skills through accredited learning programs, community groups, social opportunities and establishing connections to other agencies and resources that can provide assistance, information and support.
The NDIS defines Supported Independent Living as support that assists participants to live independently within their own home or a shared accommodation setting. We are an NDIS SIL provider and can support you in this area. We can also help you to understand the complexities of obtaining your own home and finding suitable housing. This can include completing a housing assessment and navigating the NDIS pathway.
