Public Notice Supporting the Commonwealth of Australia’s position on the Rejection of Indigenous Australian Advisory Body in the Australian Constitution Saturday the 25th day of November 2017. The Sovereign Yidindji Government under the authority of the Yidindji Tribal Council of Elders make known to the whole world that the Sovereign Yidindji Government supports the Commonwealth of Australia, and, the Hon. Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, for announcing the rejection of a constitutionally enshrined representative body specifically for persons of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander race. The Sovereign Yidindji Government now make known to the world that: 1. The Sovereign Yidindji Government believing in the democratic principle, believes that it would be undemocratic to constitutionally enshrine a representative body for one group based on race alone. 2. The Sovereign Yidindji Government supports the doctrine of non-discrimination. 3. The Sovereign Yidindji Government acknowledges that all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians possess now, and will in the future, the same and equal civic duties, legal obligations, responsibilities and rights as all other Australian citizens. 4. The Sovereign Yidindji Government acknowledges that all Australian citizens of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander race, already possess the same opportunity as all other Australian citizens to be elected into the existing constitutionally enshrined representative bodies of the House of Representatives and the Senate. 5. The Sovereign Yidindji Government supports the Commonwealth of Australia, regarding the statement made by the Hon. Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull that there is another forum whereby the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies can interact with the Commonwealth of Australia, other than through a constitutionally enshrined representative body. 6. The Sovereign Yidindji Government applauds the Commonwealth of Australia for having the fortitude and foresight to not allow the Australian Constitution to be altered based on race of certain persons thereby bringing disadvantage to others races of Australians whom do not have a constitutionally enshrined representative body.
